There has to be some sort of force...
...that allows there to be balance in the universe. I swear, Monday was the worst day (luck and fate wise) that I've had at work in a LONG time. Every time I thought, "Things can't possibly get any worse," ... well, they did. :P Everything from being banned from the accounts at our bank because we were considered "outsiders" to an overnight carrier (who will remain nameless) who lost an overnight package from my office containing over $100,000 worth of stock certificates for one of our clients, but felt no obligation to hurry up and find it :P - had to happen on of all days, Monday. :P

Luckily though there must be some force at work in the universe to compensate for days like Monday, because as soon as I got to work on Tuesday - the world looked SO much brighter! Not only were the stock certificates found, but they miraculously reached their destination WITHOUT an airbill attached that contained the destination address (it had separated from the package) and was deposited into the client's brokerage account - pretty miraculous, if you ask me! The banking officer who had a problem with us called to speak with my supervisor and worked everything out with him and we re-gained access to the accounts. AND we all ordered breakfast from a great place nearby and I had THE BEST egg white omelet with portuguese sausage and mushrooms ever! How could it get any better than that? ;)

Thankfully tomorrow is Thursday and there's a three day weekend on the horizon (I don't know if I could handle another Monday for a while...) ;P If there was ever a time that I needed a holiday it would have to be now. :P

On a completely different note, I've been wrecking my brain trying to think of something to get Mark for his birthday this year. I have a little less than a month to come up with something, and I'm surprised that I'm having such a hard time figuring this out. I told my co-worker that we've been married for almost seven years and have known each other for almost nine and I've exhausted all my possible gift suggestions a long time ago. ;) One thing I do know is that for dinner, I'm taking him to Hiroshi's Eurasian Tapas - which he'd mentioned wanting to try for a while. :) Anyone have any gift suggestions for my hubby's birthday?

And finally - I've been getting hooked on "West Wing" again. I stayed up until nearly 3:30 the other morning watching season 2 (which I'm beginning to think was their best season). It's so hard when it's on dvd because it's so easy to say, "Just one more episode then I'll go to sleep." :P It was just so engrossing that I couldn't stop watching and had I known that "Two Cathedrals" was the last episode of the season, I might have stayed up and just gone to work with no sleep at all. :P I'll admit it, I'm hooked! :P

Hope you all have a nice evening, I'm off to feed my "West Wing" addiction a little more before bed. :)

I just hate when work is like that. One day bad, the next day is like a wash.

Sorry I have no ideas. It's hard for me to get anything for Tommy. He loves electronics, but since he works for Circuit City there is no point in buying him anything. He'll just buy it himself. :|

That's right, I forgot that Tommy's work place sells electronics! My gifts to Mark usually revolve around technological gadgets of some sort - I couldn't imagine what I'd get him if he worked someplace that sold electronics!

I really do think things always even out. I think God operates on everything balancing out - it's when the balance is interrupted that things break. Unfortunately your "balance" didn't occur on one day but spread out over 2 - I'm sorry. Eh...Mondays. I hate them. But I think Sundays evenings are the hardest knowing that the weekend is finished and a whole is about to start. I always get depressed on Sundays.

I know what you mean about gifts for husbands. We've become a very practical couple and just tell each other what we want - it's so convenient. The element of surprise isn't there but I'd rather give up my surprises for peace of not having to wander the shopping malls.

I agree about Sundays! In fact, sometimes Sunday nights are almost worse than Mondays because the upcoming week always feels so long. :P

Being practical about gifts is great - and you're right, it does cut out on time spent wandering the malls. We sometimes go on trips as anniversary gifts (or Valentines Day gifts) to each other, but birthday's are always hard. He got me a really thoughtful gift this past year and I really want to get him something special. :)

OK, as for me, DVD's are always a safe bet...electronics are good, video games maybe...hmmm, how about an ipod...I like a lot of artsy stuff, not sure if he's into that though...

Great suggestions, thanks Doug! :) I was actually thinking about an iPod (he got me one for Christmas last year) - but he told me that he'd never really use one. :( DVD sets are always good bets since I know he's been wanting Season one of "Enterprise" but hasn't gotten around to getting it yet. :) Thanks so much again for your great suggestions, Doug! :D

I'm sorry your work life has been so chaotic. Here's hoping things will calm down soon! I LOVE TAPAS RESTAURANTS! We used to have a really good one nearby, but they have since changed and no longer serve tapas. I wish I knew what to suggest as a birthday gift for your husband... but I am so bad at knowing what to get other people, lol.

I've never actually been to a tapas restaurant so I'm really excited to got there! :) And men are always SO hard to buy gifts for! :(

I am actually shocked that the stock certificates made it into the client's account by the next morning! Amazing! I am glad all the days were not like Monday.

As for presents for Mark... hmmm... I'll let you know if I think of anything.

Me too! No one was more shocked than I was when I called our clearing firm! Just how it got there with no address, I will never know.

I'v always thought that men were so hard to buy gifts for. I've always had problems trying to think of the perfect gift for him. Luckily I do have a little bit of time left. :)

I know what you mean about the gift thing - when you've been together for so long, it's hard to keep coming up with original and exciting ideas! :)
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on July 1st, 2005 08:54 am (UTC)
That's SO true! I've exhausted all my gift ideas long ago! ;) I still have a little time before his birthday, I'll try poking around and trying to find out if he's throwing any hints at me. ;)

BTW, I LOVE that new icon of Cameron! He's such a doll!

I have days like that at work too - one day I will be happy and assume everything will go great and then my day is horrible. So, I come in the next day thinking it will be awful and everything seems to work out really well instead!

I was like that with Gilmore Girls - "just one more....okay so it's 1am, but just one..more..."

That's got to be the hardest thing about watching a dvd set! I'm proud to say that I've been very good the last couple of days and have only stayed up until 1:30am watching "West Wing" ;)

I'm sorry that your work life has not been very nice. I hope that it will calm down soon and I'm glad that Tuesday has been a much better day.

I can imagine that it's difficult to find a birthday present for Mark. I wish I could help you. Unfortunately, I've no idea. :( I'm always glad when I get a book or a CD from somebody I like to read or to listen to.

Yes, it can happen that one is hooked. :) 3.30 is a time where I no longer would go to bed because it happens to me that I'm again way to awake then. Thinking of that, I should go to bed now since it's here already 2.00 a.m. :)

Hope you had a nice day, Sheri. Big *hugs* to you.

Thank you, Sabine. :) And your ideas for gifts are great - Mark likes to buy ebooks, I might just see if there's a way that I could buy him some credits to buy some books for his PDA and maybe get him something to go with it. :)

Hope you have a nice weekend, Sabine! Please give a *HUG* to Micki and one to Garry to please. :) *HUGS* to you! :)
