A nice Christmas and happy theatre babble... :)
As Sydney mentioned in her previous post, we all had a wonderful Christmas yesterday. :) Mark loved the iPod video that I got him and spent most of the day today purchasing episodes of his various favorite shows off of iTunes. :) I love the video camera that he got me this year!! I spent the entire day yesterday chasing the fuzzy dog around with it... :) The gift of choice from the parents this year seemed to be cash - since both sides knew that we have two impending trips in the month of January. But as nice as all the gifts were, probably the nicest thing about yesterday was really getting to spend time with our families. :)

Speaking of nice gifts, I got a lovely Christmas email from Kevin yesterday with one of the best gifts he could give me... A Los Angeles run of It Came From Beyond!! I'm SO excited about this because I was pretty upset that I couldn't make it all the way to NYC this past Fall to see it at the New York Musical Festival. :) His City of Angels schedule conflicts with this, so I'm waiting to hear back from him as to whether he'll opt out of two weeks of "Beyond" to play Jimmy Powers at Reprise! or if it'll be the other way around...

In other LA theatre news, I feel like SUCH an idiot! (But, what else is new?) ;) When I saw Bark! back in November, I noticed that the actress playing "Molly" looked REALLY familiar... I kept thinking I'd seen her in something, but when I looked at the program, I didn't recognize the name Katy Blake... Then today, I went to the Bark! website and I read her bio and it hit me! She's Kathryn Blake and I saw her play "Percy" in Spitfire Grill with Kevin back in 2002 at Laguna Playhouse! Misty was supposed to be in the show, but she got ill and at the last minute and they had to fly Kathryn in to do the remainder of the run (and I happened to go on her first weekend of performances). I even met her in the greenroom at Laguna... Darn, but my memory is getting REALLY bad - must be my old age. ;)

In happy NYC news, we've finally purchased all our show tickets. So our theatre schedule is now complete! :)

Thursday, Jan 12th - Light In the Piazza (We have incredible seats - I'm SO excited! Hopefully David will be on that day)
Friday, Jan 13th - Spelling Bee
Saturday, Jan 14th (matinee) - Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Saturday, Jan 14th (eve) - Sweeney Todd
Sunday, Jan 15th (matinee) - Spamalot (Yay for Lauren Kennedy!!)
Sunday, Jan 15th (eve) - we were going to see Rabbit Hole, but then they cancelled the performance. :( So we ended up buying tickets to Rent. :)

Hope you all had a nice weekend! I'm off to finish my laundry and attempt (notice the uncertainty there...) to work out. :P Have a nice evening everyone! :)

What is "It Came From Beyond"? Musical or play?
Sheri: Kevin 2001 headshotshutterbug93 on December 27th, 2005 05:50 am (UTC)
It's a new musical written by Stephen M. Schwartz and Norman Thalheimer. It got its start in 2003 with two readings at the Colony Theatre and then premiered at the New York Musical Festival in September of this year. VERY small cast... Kevin, Heather Marie Marsden, and two others. I can't wait to see it. :)

I'm glad you had a nice time with both families. :) It's always nice to be around parents this time of year.

I got an Ipod 30 GB video too. I got a black one yesterday, but it wouldn't hold a charge, so we had to exchange it for another, and now I have a white one. They only had white left, but I don't really care what color it is. I love it. :) I'm glad Mark likes his. They are fun. :)

It really is, my family is SUCH a huge blessing in my life! :)

Isn't the iPod neat? Mark just loves his! He can't stop fiddling with it - which is odd because he never wanted an iPod before. :)

I really liked The Spitfire Grill. Spamalot would be awesome to see (I've always been a huge Monty Python fan) and Spelling Bee looks cool, too.

I honestly think Spitfire Grill was one of the most heartwarming musicals that I've seen. I was just in tears at the end (and it doesn't end like the movie at all!) Mark is a huge Monty Python fan so he's wanted to see Spamalot since he heard it was coming to Broadway. :) He's VERY excited about our trip! :) And I've been wanting to see Spelling Bee for a while now so this should be an exciting trip for us. :D

Wow that's a great news for Kevin! I don't think I can see the show though as it only runs on the weekend :(

BUT, I'm going to see Sweeney Todd on the same day with you! We can definitely meet each other :) Funny thing is that I will see Piazza, Bee, and DRS but all different days :p Yes, I hope David will be on that weekend for Piazza!

I was SO happy that It Came From Beyond has been given a second life! :) It's a shame you can't see it, though. :(

YAY for seeing Sweeney on the same night!! It's too funny that we'll be seeing all the same shows, but just on different nights! :) I know they were saying that David would be in the last half of January... I'm hoping it includes our weekend... I really want to see him in the role!

Nice video camera Sheri :) I was looking at getting the exact same one :P I'm glad you three had a wonderful Christmas :)

It's SUCH a cool little camera!! The screen is amazing and it's so small and lightweight that it fits in my purse! :) The only downside to it, I have to say is that the microphone is located on the top of the camera instead of in the front, by the lens. Sometimes it's hard to hear the people speak... Other than that, I LOVE it!!

It's my one chance a year to see Broadway shows. :) (Sadly I'll miss Pajama Game, Barefoot In The Park, and Rabbit Hole) :(

You guys are going to have such a great time in NYC. What an excellent show line-up! I can't wait to hear all about it! :)

Mark and I are so excited about NY! :) It's been a whole year since I've been there and a lot longer for Mark. It's such a shame that we're missing "The Pajama Game" and "Barefoot in the Park", though. :(

We're so excited about NY! :) It's been so long that we've been there that we haven't seen any of the shows we have tickets for. It's a shame too that we're going to miss Tim Howar in Rent. :(
