I swear, this has to be THE WORST year of my life...
I almost hesitate to write this because I can't even believe it myself! Our house was broken into AGAIN!

Thankfully, this time they only took a few minor things (some of Mark's older game consoles, and Mark's DS) but we've learned our lesson from January and have been keeping our computers with us at all times. So this wasn't nearly as bad as it was the last time... I'm beginning to think that they're kids - they even took a few of Mark's games - what adult robber would take games??? Thankfully Sydney is safe and they didn't harm her.

We think it was the same people, the same door was used to enter and they left the same way. They looked through the same things and the same places they did last time (when they found things...)

I'm not so much sad this time (because the stuff they took this time wasn't irreplaceable) as I am disgusted. WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE WOULD BREAK INTO A HOUSE TWICE?? It's just SOOO unbelievable! If it weren't actually happening to me, I wouldn't believe it myself. :P

The police who took our report said that it's because we live on an end unit and they can easily jump over our fence (from the road) without being seen.

I swear, this has to be THE WORST year of my life.

You need to invest in some video cameras..hidden. If it worked for them twice they might risk it a third time. What is wrong with the police? Good grief. More locks..more locks..
Have the police evaluate the weaknesses and get some better safety features.
This has to stop.
Sooo glad the dog is ok.

Thanks for your comment, Ilene! Mark and I are pretty disgusted with life right now... We're probably going to pay a TON to get the door (and frame) replaced and after that's done another TON to install a security system...

*SIGH*

Thanks for your comment, Angela! Unfortunately we do own the house - but we have been thinking about moving to a better neighborhood (at least, recently...) Thanks for your comments, thankfully in the two times that they came in they didn't harm Sydney - it could've been much worse!

When we had video games stolen, it was definitely kids. I don't know if you guys have firearms, but if so, check and see if any of those are missing. Also - food. They stole Reese's Cups. REESE'S CUPS, SHERI. Kids are insane. How did they break in, do you know?
Sheri: Sydney *SIGH*shutterbug93 on April 6th, 2007 04:16 pm (UTC)
Oh my goodness, I can't believe they stole candy (among other things) from your house! :P Our refrigerator door was ajar - but nothing was missing - so it creeps me out that they looked in there.

And they broke in through our sliding glass door (which now is completely broken and we had to fix because it wouldn't even close.) It's just ridiculous! If this weren't actually happening to us, I wouldn't believe it myself! :P

Thanks so much for your comments!

Thankfully Sydney was unharmed! Thanks for your comment, Mel.

That's a real bummer, but at least Sydney-dog is safe, you're safe, and the unreplacable stuff is safe this time. I think you need a loud-ass alarm on their most common entry ways to scare them off. As for "why games": simple answer: easily sold (therefore... easy drug money). Any addicts in the neighborhood?

But do hang in there. Remember that you and Mark and Sydney are great people (well, Sydney's a great dog), and there are people out here who do care about you, even when things go bad. That's why we're called friends: we're here for both the good and the bad.
Sheri: Sydney *SIGH*shutterbug93 on April 6th, 2007 04:21 pm (UTC)
Thanks for your comment, Daniel. This is INSANE!! And we have the feeling that it's the same people - too many similarities in the things they did and what and how they took them.

LOTS of bad people in my neighborhood... it isn't the best neighborhood at all... All new houses, but most of the people who first moved in (the young married people just starting out like us ten years ago) have all moved on to bigger places and better neighborhoods. We're one of the few who are still here after 10 years...

Thanks so much again for your comment and for your support, Daniel. It really means a lot to me.

Geeez. Can you install a security alarm that would silently notify the police and possibly catch these crooks.

Glad you and your family are ok.
Sheri: Sydney *SIGH*shutterbug93 on April 6th, 2007 04:22 pm (UTC)
Thanks for your comment! We are definitely investing in a security system - in fact, that was next on our list of things to get - but we hadn't saved up the money for it from the last robbery.

But you're right, at least no one was harmed and for that, I'm VERY thankful!!

oh no! I'm so sorry. There's no way to make it seem okay - I hope they can find the culprits though. Anything you can do to discourage them from coming back again? A "party tape" playing while you're gone, bright lights over the place they might use to escape? Anything?

Razor wire. :)

Thanks for your comment, Laura! We are SO thankful that both times this happened, Sydney wasn't harmed!

But,... *SIGH* this is all getting rather tiring for us. Mark and I are pretty mad at the world right now...

I'm really sorry to hear this, Sheri. :( I cannot believe they did it a second time. Maybe hidden cameras might help. I'm not sure as to why the police didn't suggest anything. I'm just glad Sydney is ok and that you all are ok. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way. *BIGHUGS* Love you!

Thanks for your comment, Carrie! It just boggles our mind that this happened again - in fact, if it wasn't actually happening to us, I wouldn't believe it myself!

Thanks for yor good thoughts and prayers - it really means a lot to us! HUGS

Oh, no.....*hugs* I'm glad you guys are okay, and I'm glad they didn't hurt poor Sydney!

Maybe you need to put razor wire on top of your fence.

We really need to do something!! For our own sanity, this can't go on! :P

Ugh, Sheri!! I am so sorry. :( *BIG BIG HUGS!* It has to be the same people who did it the first time. I am glad none of you were harmed.
Sheri: Sydney *SIGH*shutterbug93 on April 6th, 2007 04:34 pm (UTC)
Thanks so much for your comment, Andrea. We really do think it's the same people as the first time. They took bags (dumped everything out of them) both times to carry away what they stole. They must've come by on foot and left either through our gate or hopped our fence.

Thanks so much for your comment, Sue! Can you believe that they even opened our refrigerator?? That REALLY just creeps me out! :P Mark and I are definitely getting a security system installed - we were saving up for one after the last time - we just have to speed the process up now...

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? REALLY, AGAIN! That is terrible. Have you alarmed your house? Do they brake in during the day time or at night?

This is nuts. Ok going by what the police said.... you should put some type of poky track on the tops of your fence so that it makes it that much more difficult for these people to hop it!

I am so SO SO Sorry to hear this.
Sheri: Sydney *SIGH*shutterbug93 on April 6th, 2007 04:38 pm (UTC)
Thanks so much for your comment, Stacey! They broke in (both times) during the day, when we were at work. And Mark & I are definitely going to install an alarm system, as soon as we can save up the money for it...
