Poor Sydney...
...she's not doing well again. In fact, when Mark came home she was unresponsive and couldn't stand up. :( I don't understand it because just this morning she was totally fine. He rushed her to the vet while I was in class - I didn't find out about it until I called him when my class was over (that's what I get for turning off my phone!)... And the vet said that though they weren't sure, she probably suffers from an extreme case of Vertigo.

*SIGH* Poor dog! She's been through SO much lately! :(

They gave her a sedative (because she was doing a lot of freaking out earlier) and she's resting comfortably at the foot of the bed... It just breaks my heart to see her so - lifeless like that. :( They prescribed some medication for her (she has to take SO many pills!) and they don't think it's related to her liver condition at all... And they said hopefully the vertigo will go away in a few days, but because they aren't sure what caused it, they can't be sure that it won't get worse.

When I saw her she was looking up at the ceiling, craning her neck in weird contorting positions, in a HUGE and complete daze - not even able to focus her eyes on me. :( Quite frankly, it really freaked me out... :( She can't even sit up correctly... :(

I know that we've probably asked for more than our share of prayers for Sydney, but if I could impose one more time... She's just been through SO much lately... any prayers or good thoughts for her would be greatly appreciated...

And THANKS SO MUCH to everyone who responded to my last career change post below. With everything going on with Sydney, I'm SO sorry I haven't been able to adequately thank all of you for your wonderful support. I will try to reply to the comments soon. Big HUGS and much love to all of you!!

I will say a prayer that she gets better. I can only imagine how much worse vertigo would be for a dog, than a human. I have it, and it sucks! Poor Sydney, I'm sure she just feels like the room wont stop spinning. HUGS I'm hoping it goes away quick!

Thank you, Laura for your prayers!! Not too sure what caused the vertigo, but poor Sydney looks SO terrified! :( I didn't know you had problems with vertigo as well - that's so awful! :( Big HUGS to you.

Well when I get Vertigo it usually lasts a few days off and on. One time, and the only time I went to the doctor for it, I had it for about 3 months. That's how i found out I had it.

I just feel so bad for poor Sydney, because it's scary when i get, I can just imagine how sacred she'd be. HUGS! I hope she'll be okay.

Hi Sue - thanks SO MUCH for your prayers and good thoughts!! When Mark took her in, our regular vet wasn't there so we saw someone else who checked for exterior signs of ear infection, etc... but couldn't find anything.

From the way she looked, we thought she had a stroke! :( I hope this is something that will get better... Sydney's been through so much lately!! :(

Big HUGS to you!

Oh Sheri. You can never ask for too many prayers for a darling girl that brings so much joy to your lives. Sydney and you are in our thoughts.

Thank you so much, Rita - that is SOOO sweet of you!! Big HUGS to you! When Mark first came home, he thought that Sydney had a stroke... :( The vet seemed unclear as to what might've caused it - but said that it really looked like some kind of extreme vertigo. Poor fuzzy dog! :(

Thank you SO much for all your support!! Much love to you!!

I'm so sorry, Sheri. Poor Sydney. :( My heart goes out to all of you. Of course, you are in my thoughts and I'm sending good vibes.

Can it be such kind of illness a woman once talked about when I was with Micki at the vet? She called it vertigo and said that it happened "all of sudden" and even vets would not know a reason. Later I asked the vet and, according to her, the woman was right. She said that even if more older dogs get such an illness it can happen to younger dogs too. The dogs would feel "seasick", some in such a bad way that they had to vomit or could not find their feeding bowl, and the only what they can do would be to give drugs which are stimulating the blood circulation and ease the vertigo. I still remember that the vet also said that some dogs recover within days but it also can happen that it takes 4 - 6 weeks until they are completely healthy again.

I hope Sydney feels better again soon! Much love and big hugs to you, Sheri!

Thank you SO much, Sabine!! Mark & I appreciate all your good thoughts and vibes for Sydney!! HUGS!!

What you describe certainly sounds like what Sydney has! She was completely fine yesterday morning, walking around the house, wagging her tail, playing with her toys... and then when Mark came home, she couldn't get up, she kept craning her neck and arching her back in impossible positions, and she looked absolutely terrified. :(

I'm hoping that she'll be okay in a few days or we'll even take a few weeks - I just hope it doesn't get worse... :(

Thank you for your comment and for all your good thoughts for her!! Big HUGS to you, Sabine!!

Never ever
You never ever have to apologize for asking for prayers or good wishes for Sydney, Sheri. Here's hoping and asking for your little ball of fuzz to be restored to regular self in no time!
