Happy New Year...
...to everyone! :) Amazing as it may be, Mark & I actually stayed up to watch the ball drop in Times Square this year - which is amazing only because last year I fell asleep with my iPod firmly stuck to my forehead :P and I was beginning to think it was becoming a habit. :P

The fireworks were definitely not as bad or half as loud this year, and we half wondered if was due to the 25,000 or so Hawaii residents who were NOT on the island and were off in New Orleans watching the Sugar Bowl... LOTS of our friends and neighbors were gone, some of whom would be responsible for fireworks - though it's probably foolish to think it could've made THAT much of a difference.

And yes, we watched the game at my Mom's house - as the entire state probably did - and we knew it was probably a bad omen when UH had penalties on their first two plays of the game... :( No matter what, though UH has had an INCREDIBLE season and should be proud that they made it all the way to the Sugar Bowl - sounds cliche, I know. But I think the Hawaii fans are just proud that the team made it as far as they did.

I'm back to work this morning... The one thing about when the holidays end... they end really SUDDENLY. As quickly as they came, they're now gone and we're back to business as usual. :P

And speaking of which... usual business, that is - ;) I've finally finalized our theatre schedule for our NYC trip in a couple of weeks:

Thursday, Jan. 17th: Young Frankenstein
Friday, Jan 18th: Jersey Boys
Saturday, Jan 19th (mat): Mary Poppins
Saturday, Jan 19th (eve): Little Mermaid
Sunday, Jan 20th (mat): Is He Dead?
Sunday, Jan 20th (eve): Grease

I've had to take a little different approach to ticket buying this time since I'll be traveling with my Mom and she has a little different taste when it comes to shows. My only sadness is that I JUST found out that David Burnham is taking over as Fiyero in "Wicked" on Broadway - and had I known, it would probably have been the only thing that would've gotten me to go back to there to see it. But it's too late to buy tickets now anyway... :(

Hope you all had a lovely New Year!! I'm off to get ready for work... :P Big HUGS!

I wasn't sure if I was going to make it either. I did, then I went to bed after. I was quite surprised that no one in this neighborhood did fireworks or was banging pots and pans. Our neighborhood was quiet and only saw tips of fireworks from surrounding areas.

I watched the Sugar Bowl too! OUCH! The coach told them that it was fine to bring the energy, and get pumped up, but they did it in the wrong way. I think that it did hurt them.

I SO want to see Grease.... I did Grease back in high school. I was Jan.

It's nice that you were able to have a quiet New Year - it was one of our quietest in years!

Yeah, I they had too much emotion in the beginning, nervous energy, maybe... But I liked that June Jones told them to play like they belonged. I just felt bad for them,... but I think the Hawaii people are really just proud that they made it that far.

You were Jan? How great!! I've only seen one staged production of Grease - it was in Fullerton and one of the first non-Kevin shows I saw Bets in. :) She was a GREAT Rizzo!

Happy New Year!

it's not cliche to be proud of your team. :) I am always proud of my teams, my boys, no matter how they play.

you really make the most of your theater-going when in NYC, don't you? hee. that's one of my goals for this year, see lots more theater. I've been so slacking off the last several years. it's not right that you're in NYC more for theater than I am, and you live several thousand miles further away than me. :)

Hope you had a nice New Year!

And my Mom and I are very excited about NY! It's quite a trip for us so we have to pack it with as much theatre as possible. :)

That is a crazy amount of shows for a weekend but I am obviously not one to talk. Haha. Sounds like a fun weekend! :o)
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 4th, 2008 05:59 am (UTC)
We're so excited about going - it's been about two years since I've been there... which is far too long for me!
Marymirroredimage on January 4th, 2008 02:20 pm (UTC)
That IS an incredibly long time! I'd say I'd love to meet up with you to meet, but you are far too busy. LoL.

Thanks so much!! My Mom and I are so excited! It's been about two years since I've been to NY and about three or so since my Mom's been there so we're really looking forward to going back! :D

You could always enter Wicked lotto. It worked for shawk. ;-)

Haha!! I remember her lotto story at Mikuni! :) With my luck because I want to see David so much, I probably have no chance. I just wish I would've known earlier. :P

Friday, Jan 18th: Jersey Boys

OMG, I'm so jealous, I could die, just die.

I'm really looking forward to taking my Mom to see it! After seeing the tour 4 times, I want my Mom to experience JB for herself. :)

I stayed up too, surprisingly, but tonight I've got to get more sleep. Being at work today was tough!

And I can't wait for your trip to NYC. I'll be in town sometime Friday, and at Jersey Boys Friday night, and then Come Back, Little Sheba Saturday night. I'm not sure what I'll do otherwise on Saturday, but I'll probably head home after the show on Saturday night - it's just over an hour by train.

Happy New Year to you!!

I'm SOOOO looking forward to meeting you!! I told my Mom that you'll be at that performance of JB and she thought it was great. If you'd like to meet up or something prior to the show, please let me know. :)
waytoocoolrevwaytoocoolrev on January 5th, 2008 06:20 am (UTC)
I'd love to meet up, and I'll be in NYC early so that should be easy to do. I also have a restaurant recommendation for you. I'll message you on facebook over the weekend!

Happy new year!

I'm jealous that you'll be in NYC so soon! I'm excited to find out that you will see Mary Poppins :) I'm sure you will enjoy the show and Danny's performance :)

Wow David will be in Wicked! I was hoping he'll be in LA production (LOL).
Sheri: David Burnhamshutterbug93 on January 4th, 2008 06:08 am (UTC)
Happy New Year!! :D

Is Danny still in the show? That's great!! :) My Mom chose it as one of the shows she wanted to see and I'm really looking forward to it too. :)

If only David could be in the LA cast, maybe I'd have a better chance of seeing him. ;)

BTW
We watched Sugar Bowl too as my husband is a fan of Hawaii team! They had a great season and I'm so happy for them to go to such a major bowl.

Yes, you are right the holidays tend to end quickly. I had liked to have some more days without work and that although I had not to work between Christmas and New Year. :) Hope your work started in a good way into 2008.

And it sounds like that you have something to look forward in January. :) Hope you and your Mom will have a great time then!

Big hugs to you, Sheri!

It should be a great trip. :)
