So it's been formally announced...
...so I can be formally sad. :( The Marvelous Wonderettes are indeed closing in North Hollywood at the end of the month. :( First and foremost I'm sad because I love the show - and because, no matter what was bothering me at work or anywhere else, I knew that I could go to the El Portal and for two hours I could forget about my problems... And because of Bets, Julie, Kirsten, and Kim - who have made my wonderette visits incredibly, INCREDIBLY special throughout the (almost) two years that I've seen the show.

I'm seeing the show again on Saturday night - and it'll be my last time seeing it at the El Portal - which is extremely sad for me. The Wonderettes, after all, had been a mainstay of my theatre trips and the one show I could always count on.

Saturday night will be my 8th viewing of the show - the first time being 2 days after opening night back in October of 2006.

Throughout everything, I have seen:
  • 2 Suzy Simpsons (Bets and Lowe)
  • 2 Missy Millers (Kim and Tami - which was amazing in itself!)
  • 2 Betty Jean Reynolds' (Julie and Leslie)
  • only ONE Cindy Lou Huffington (Kirsten - can you imagine I NEVER saw an understudy in the two years that I've been seeing the show?)
One last note - I adore Bets - she's the best, she really is! Not only is she an incredible friend, but I think she truly does understand how much this show has meant to me in the short time that it's been playing.

We should go have dinner the next time you plan a weekend L.A. trip.

Aw! I'm sorry your show is closing. I felt that way about The Boy From Oz - always a show that left me feeling better than when I walked into the theater. I have to say that Altar Boyz is also a feel-good show for me. I saw it again recently because I thought my nephew would like it, and I'd forgotten how much fun it was. It didn't hurt that Cutie Matthew sang to me when he came down into the audience...
