Okay, this completely sucks!
I realized about 10 minutes after I sat down at the departure gate last night that I had forgotten to bring my power chord for my laptop... :P Panicked, because I have SO MUCH web work to do while I'm away,... I debated calling my Mom and asking her to pick it up from my house - but that would mean walking her through the garage passcode and disarming the alarm and that would be too stressful for her and for me...

So I went to Circuit City this morning and purchased one... $89! :P For something I have sitting at home (although it is quite useless to me on this trip...) At any rate, I now have a SECOND power chord and I don't have to limit my computer usage anymore... (At first what alarmed me was that I had maybe only two good hours before my battery died and two hours is barely enough for me to check all my darn email accounts sometimes...) :P

Speaking of the airport, there was SUCH a sadness in the air as I checked in to my Hawaiian Airlines flight last night. I had to pass the inter-island terminal on the way to my gate and an entire section was dark and empty (where the Aloha gates used to be). There was just a general feeling of something missing and even the workers (TSA, the concessions, etc.) seemed to be saddened as well. :(

There were A LOT of people on my flight who Hawaiian got as overflow from the ATA flights that were canceled. SOOO many people were stranded in the islands and my flight was filled with people trying to get home any way they possibly could. Not a good week for the airlines industry in general. :(

This afternoon, I went to the Pasadena Playhouse to see "Mask". Michelle Duffy and Allen E. Read are just so talented it's ridiculous. :) Michelle, having been a favorite of mine since seeing her in "Johnny Guitar" with Kevin years ago, was SO heartbreaking as Rusty.. Allen E. Read has SUCH an amazing voice - that guy has an absolutely gorgeous belt! And he played Rocky the way I thought he should have been portrayed... unaffected, very endearing, without even an ounce of self-pity - which I loved.

The supporting players were also very good... a couple of people who I specifically went to see (Heather and Katy) were great - as always, but sadly didn't have much in the way of showing either their acting or vocal skills.

A couple of places in the show, I actually broke down and cried - during Gar's song ("A Woman So Beautiful") about how he fell in love with Rusty when he saw the look in her eyes when she was looking at Rocky... and Michelle's break down scene. I rarely cry for sad... I usually only cry for touching, and "A Woman So Beautiful" - was incredibly, INCREDIBLY touching. Though I'm still uncertain whether I fully appreciated Greg Evigan's performance as a whole, I did cry during that song. And Rusty's break down scene, I teared a bit as well, only because Michelle is such an incredible actress.

I didn't care much for the ending - the way it seemed to gloss over Rocky's death. Somehow I didn't feel like I had enough time to experience his loss - after all, we had grown attached to him throughout the show - we should be allowed to grieve. The final ending scene seemed a bit too... mystical and much too "we-need-a-happy-ending-NOW" for me. Other than that, I really enjoyed the performances. I'm seeing the show again tomorrow night - I didn't get to stay to visit with anyone today because I had to rush to the Wonderettes, so I thought I could say HI to people tomorrow night.

I should run - Mark should be calling me soon (I think - I'm getting the time difference between LA and Japan confused - it was hard enough figuring it out for Hawaii!) :P Tomorrow is Laura's baby shower so that should be a lot of fun! :) Hope you're all having a nice weekend. HUGS!

Hey--- save the packaging and return the power chord on your last day, tell them you didn't need it after all.
I am jealous that you are in Pasadena. I spent my teens there, and my family is there. I think 30% of my teen life was spent in Old Town.
Or behind the McDonalds with my BF :)

Thanks for your comment! And I threw out the package - after the hardship I had opening it (what's with that ridiculously hard to open plastic that most electronics come in nowadays??) :P I've decided that having a second power chord is not necessarily a bad thing.

I love Pasadena! I have a few friends who live in the area and there are some great eating places in Old Town!

Or behind the McDonalds with my BF :)

Haha!!

Sorry about the power cord! I've had to buy chargers for my phone and a charged battery for my camera - no charger available - while traveling. I wish I had a perfect memory!

Enjoy the trip!

Thanks for your comment! :) I've decided that having an extra one is not necessarily a bad thing. :) Ohhh! Chargers - that would be bad to forget as well! :(

Thanks so much!

I'm about to write our review -- stupendous show. However, since you went to see Katy. At our show, at the end just after the standing ovation, they called out to put a spotlight on Katy. At that point, her boyfriend (Barry) came on stage... got on his knee... and proposed. Of course she said yes.

I spoke with her about that today. She said that she doesn't remember a lot about it - it was a bit of a blur. She said she was shaking so much that she didn't even have time to cry.

Thanks so much!! I've decided that having a second one is a good thing, I think I'll keep that one in my travel bag so this won't happen to me again. :)

And I had a blast at Laura's shower!! Big HUGS to you!!
