An update on hubby, working at the fair, and my next LA trip! :)
A little update on Mark,... his shingles seem to be a bit better. He's in the scabbing stage and all the random little dots on his face seem to have vanished. He's even gone back to work - half days, but it's a start. This week would have been 3 weeks that he's been away from work and he was starting to go a little stir-crazy at home.

I, on the other hand, haven't been home for a while. Last week Wednesday night, I flew to Kauai and stayed there overnight to host the Race to Retirement event (the big party our department hosts for our bank branches). I stayed at the Kauai Marriott (very nice!) and flew back to Honolulu early the next morning and drove directly to work from there. So I didn't really have much "at home" time the past couple of weeks. :P

This past weekend, I spent most of my time on Saturday and Sunday volunteering at the 50th State Fair. I always love working at the fair because it's a great way to interact with the deaf community and they are always so appreciative of the volunteers. We help them to take customer orders and then translate what the customers say back to them. And I think that I've met some of the nicest people working at the fair. Not to mention the fact that I got to practice my ASL, which is not a bad thing at all... The only downside was that it was deathly HOT in the wagons we were working in and the smell of the hamburger meat was starting to make me feel a bit queasy... Other than that, I'd work there again in a heartbeat! :)

On an LA theatre note, I leave for LA again next week Thursday, and I've tentatively figured out my theatre schedule...

Friday (June 20th; eve): Daytime Emmys (yes, I'm insane, remember my last post?)
Saturday (June 21st; mat): MAYBE... A Chorus Line @ Ahmanson, or possibly Summer & Smoke @ the Skirball Center
Saturday (June 21st; eve): EITHER... A Chorus Line @ Ahmanson, or possibly Dog Sees God again. :)
Sunday (June 22nd; mat): The Who's Tommy @ Ricardo Montalban Theatre, 3pm
Sunday (June 22nd; eve): Dog Sees God @ Hudson Backstage, 7pm
Monday (June 23rd; eve): The Fix @ Alex Theatre, 8pm

If anyone has any suggestions for shows for my Saturday (matinee and evening) I'd love to hear them. I was focused so much on the Daytime Emmys that I'm afraid my theatre ticket buying is WAAAAY behind! :(

Hope everyone's doing well! It's been so long since I've been here, I feel so out of touch! :(

Oh, I SOOOO wish I had seen this before I went on my ticket buying spree... :( I'd heard so many great things about Pippin and didn't know about the extension. :(

I ended up buying tix for "Summer & Smoke" and ACL... :P

Too bad. I know you'll have a great time @ your shows.

I'll see it for you next weekend. (^_^)

Thanks for the update on Mark. I've been checking your blog regularly; I've been so concerned. My mother had shingles. It was so bad, she had to have a skin graft.

I'll be able to see you at The Fix, but I'm not sure you've made the right choice. Rubicon is doing their "Plays-in-Progress" concert stagings of new musicals. They've got three. Each is presented one time, tweaked by the writer and director, then presented again a week later. What you're missing on the 23rd is "The Man Who Would be King," starring Marc Kudish and Kevin Earley.

I'm glad to hear that Mark is getting better. I have been worried about you and him. I hadn't seen you around and was hoping everything was ok. I'm sorry you've been so busy with work. This upcoming trip will be very much deserved! :) As for me joining you on Friday night, I'm sorry to say that I can't. I wish I could. I know you'll have fun though! :D

Thanks so much, Carrie and sorry I've been so absent... Work has been INsane! :P I'm so sad that I won't be seeing you on this trip, but once things have settled for everyone, we should all get together for dinner or something. I would LOVE to see you guys!!

I'm glad Mark is improving, but I'm betting it's still no fun - poor Mark! And he's had to go it alone most of the time too.

Your next trip sounds like it will be great; I've not been to the theater in ages!

Thankfully Mark is feeling much better and his shingles seemed to have improved A LOT in the last week. He's still having a bit a trouble staying the whole day at work, but he's certainly much better than he was just a few days ago...

I'm really excited about my upcoming trip!! All the theatre is VERY exciting, but meeting the folks from the MB I post on at the Emmys is very exciting (and nerve-wrecking) at the same time. :)
