The Big Island was wonderful!
Seeing my Grandma was SO lovely, and getting to spend time with Mark & my Mom made it one of the best day trips I've ever had! :)

My Grandma was surprised to see us, and felt bad that we flew all the way to see her. She kept saying, "No need come!" though she always feels bad when we go out of our way to see her. She looked great and healthy and kept thanking us for making the trip to see her. :)

In addition, we were able to stop by some of our favorite food places on the island!! Mark & I ate lunch at Cafe 100 - which had THE BEST veggie patty loco moco I've ever eaten! (Mark had the Super loco - which is basically a heart attack on a plate - 2 eggs, hamburger patty, spam, and portugese sausage...) Whoa... We then stopped off at Two Ladies Kitchen to pick up some fresh strawberry mochi, and then headed to Big Island Candies for some INCREDIBLE shortbread cookies.

All in all it was an extremely wonderful day!!

The three generations photo - 2009 version! :) :)

My Grandma with the lemon crunch cake my Mom brought over for the occasion! :)

A darling photo of my Mom with my Grandma! :) (I think this is my favorite photo of them!)

Me & my Grandma! :) (I'm actually surprised that she sat for all these photos, she HATES taking pictures!!)

My Mom, Uncle, and Aunt who also came to share in the celebration. :)

With Mark at Two Ladies Kitchen - THE BEST mochi place in all of Hawaii!

Here are just some of the delicious types of mochi that they make there. :)

Mark with his Super loco - 2 eggs, hamburger patty, spam, portugese sausage, gravy, AND mac salad...
Otherwise known as the heart attack on a plate... :P

My Mom would kill me if she knew I posted this photo... but I think it's SO cute!
She was laughing when the photo was taken... a priceless moment! :D :D

A silly photo of all of us on the way home from a great day trip!! :)

Hope you all had a lovely Saturday!! I'm off to spend some time hugging my fuzzy dog!! :)

What cute photos! It sounds like you had a great day! I am jealous of the warm day you had. Ice is falling outside here. :-) Thanks for sharing memories from your trip!

Thanks so much for your sweet comments! The lunch that Mark had was WAAAAAY too much! I don't think I could eat that when I was eating meat. :) He loved it, though! And my Mom would kill me if she ever found out I used that photo -- but I love it!

Thanks so much for your comments, Sue!! Thank goodness my days of eating that sort of thing are over, too! Mark is so thin., though... He can eat anything and not gain weight! Men! ;)

My Grandma is funny she kept saying, "No need come!" But afterward she kept thanking us for making the trip. :) It was so nice to see her! :)

It's so nice to see beautiful people doing happy things! Thanks for sharing these. Which Island are you living on? Did I mention that I will be in Kauai soon?

Thanks so much, Mark!! I live on Oahu... out in the middle of nowhere (not in Honolulu... way out in the country...) I think I remember you mentioning coming over to Kauai, but I can't remember when you said that was. :) It's lovely here in the spring. :)

Aw, Sheri, your travel posts and accompanying pics always bring a smile to my face. :-)

However, in regard to Mark's "heart attack on a plate" (the Super loco)...that's kids' stuff. If he ate like that every single day -- okay, then, maybe. But as an occasional meal: nowhere close.

Of course, maybe I'm biased by basing it on mainland standards. Hawaiians' eating habits could be drastically different than what I'm used to.

Thanks so much, Tony! Thankfully Mark doesn't eat like that all the time... though he used to when he was much younger. Thankfully I don't eat like that (and can't...) anymore either. Missed you around here!

I'm glad you had such a great day! I bet your grandma always feels very special when you travel all that way to see her.

Fabulous pictures, although the Super loco did not appeal to me at all! But where are the pictures of my favorite cookies???

Thanks, Robin!! My grandma tells us not to come, but I think she appreciates that we do. :)

And yeah, that Super loco was cholesterol ladden... :P No pictures of the cookies this time, unfortunately. I will try to bring some with me in April, though! :)

BTW, we need to talk about April when you have the chance!! :)

I saw your post today morning at work. To see you all and especially the "three generations photo 2009" made my day. Please say thank you for it from me to your Grandma next time you talk with her. :) She looks great! And your Mom really does not need to kill you, I too think that it's a cute photo. I'm very glad that you had a wonderful day, Sheri. Thanks for sharing it! Big hugs to you!
