I don't know if you follow prodcrspespctve (if not, you should). Ken posts the weekly grosses, and the shows numbers are quite low. For the week ending 5/31, they grossed only $168,207, with an attendance of 3,661. Compare that to Joe Turner ($283,197, attendance 5,730) or God of Carnage ($911,320, attendance 8,766). They were likely holding on to see if they would win anything, with a corresponding attendance boost.

As I said: Quite interesting to follow the numbers. (For example, the numbers on 9-to-5 make it appear that the show may continue even without the Tonys -- it appears to be a crowd pleaser. Same is true for Shrek.)

I follow the weekly grosses on Playbill.com and I knew it wasn't doing well... though the weeks prior to the Tony Awards, it picked up a little. As you know though it was, to me, a special show that will hold a special place in my heart (this post was less about me being surprised by the closing, more by me being saddened by it and sad for those I know involved in the show...) :(

:( :( :( :( :(

Knew this was coming sooner or later, but that still doesn't take away our extreme disappointment. :( We had SO been hoping that we'd get to see it at least one more time. :( In any case, best of luck to the cast and crew! Hopefully they find other projects soon!! :)

Sad for the cast, for Heather, for everyone involved with the show. But so thankful that we got to see it (and Thomas' amazing performance) at least once. So sad that it had to end, though. What a special show!

Did you see the red carpet interview with Thomas & Marin? Thomas said that they hug each other a lot off stage because they have to be so mean to each other ON stage. I thought that was cute! :D
