Yay to Avenue Q...
...for winning this year's Tony for Best Musical! :D For once a show proved that it didn't need BIG name stars or a HUGE budget to win. :) I even started to tear when they announced them as the winners - even though I already knew (hours before) that they had won. Seeing John Tartaglia jump up in joy and seeing the entire cast run up on stage to hug each other was such a touching moment!

I loved their performance - except that I agree with Cristin, I was really upset with the camera crew too - WHY close in so tight on the shot and cut both Stephanie AND John out of the picture in their respective scenes? It was SO unnecessary - and really annoying. I thought it was cute how they censored Kate Monster, though - Mark had wondered what they were going to do with that line of the song. :)

After seeing the little snippet of their performance, I can't wait to see "Assassins!!!" The only complaint that I had is that their performance was way too short - I wish they would've performed something like "Another National Anthem" so we could get a better glimpse of each of the cast members rather than the couple of seconds of each that we got.

I couldn't be more excited to go on my trip to NYC in two weeks! I can't wait to see Avenue Q again with the original cast (before their contracts expire) and see "Assassins"!! :) The next two weeks can't go by fast enough!

You are so lucky that you found out spoiler-free that would've added SO much to my excitement, I think. As it was I was jumping up and down, woo hoo-ing all over the place just reading it online. ;)

I wish John had won too. :( But I knew he didn't really have a chance against Hugh this year. :( I LOVED watching Rod flirt with Hugh, though - that was just too cute! :)

I heard that Hugh won for "Boy from OZ." very very very cool. he's literally the best thing about that show and that show would be nothing without him (wow, that sounds harsh). if ever I needed to be convinced that Hugh Jackman had "IT" as a performer, it was confirmed for me when I saw him in "OZ." WOOHOOOO!!!! and wow on "Assassins" and their Tony wins. YAY! and I'm so psyched that you'll get to see the show. you're going to love it! where are you sitting? I do hope you got a table down in front.

No table down in front for me. :( I'm in the Mezz - but I'm just happy that I'll get to see it. For a while I thought it would end before I got the chance to see it (which would be a HUGE crime).

"Assassins" has ALWAYS been a favorite show of mine - but just by watching the (too short!!) Tony performance, I can tell that this cast and this production is something pretty special. :) I can't wait!!

i don't think any of the cast is leaving any time soon ... are they gonna go to the other puppet musical on broadway lol ... this tony decided whether or not they stayed open - and i think they will now!

In a way that's great to hear that they'll be there for a while - in others, it would be wonderful to see them expand their theatre resume outside of strict puppeteering. :) I'm so excited to see the show again (and so glad I bought my tickets BEFORE last night - I'm thinking that good seats may be hard to come by now...) ;)
