Yay for eating healthy and working out!
Almost impossible to believe, but I actually convinced Mark to join me in my diet / work out plan :D - and if any of you know him to any extent, that's almost a miracle!

The reason I'm so shocked is because Mark is the kind of person whe eats everything with gravy, slathers a TON of mayo on everything, and thinks that if something is not deep fried, why bother? :P (He is the one who listed gravy, butter, pork fat, and mayo as interests in his LJ profile after all!) ;) He also used to sit at home all weekend on his computer, or play his games and would NEVER entertain the idea of exercise. I was shocked and very impressed that when I woke him up this morning at 8am (he usually sleeps in too) to do the work out, he didn't complain. :)

We made some really great baked salmon tonight and I think he's realizing that food doesn't necessarily have to be unhealthy to be tasty. :) Hopefully both he and I can make it to the end of the program. :)

In non-diet news, tomorrow I'm going to eat dinner with Susan and see her wedding photos. :) I really haven't seen her since the wedding and it'll be nice to catch up on everything going on with her. :)

And I can't believe it was one year ago today that I bought this silly computer! I really can't say that it had a great first year (with the CD drive breaking down within 5 months, etc.) But with my habit of buying new computers every 6 years or so, I know that I'll have to take care of this one, because I'll still probably be using it 5 years from now. ;)

I'm off to calm down Sydney, she's a little frightened by the fireworks (I can't believe they're still setting them off!) :P Hope you all had a nice weekend! :)

That's great to hear that both you and Mark are committed to the workout/diet plan! I agree that not all foods have to be unhealthy to taste good. Some of my favorite fish taste best when they're broiled. I also love broasted chicken, which is much better for you than regular fried chicken.

I just got home from work (yep, at 3:00 AM) and Amanda just made me a grilled ham & cheese sandwich (uh, I still tend to go for unhealthy foods quite often!), and all this talk of food is getting me hungry again. I wonder what I can scrounge up for dessert? LOL

Tom!!! :) I missed you! Oh my goodness, you're just getting home at 3am! :( I certainly hope you find a job with more sane hours soon! :(

It took a lot of convincing for Mark to agree to join me on this, but I think once he read all the material and saw what a great, sensible plan it was (and we count calories, not carbs, or grams of fat) he decided to join me. We can still eat some of the things we love (in moderation) and the kinds of foods we choose now are healthier and not "empty calories".

But Mmmm, grilled ham & cheese sandwich! Yummy! :D

YAY! I'm glad mark is joining you. It helps to have support! Salmon...mmmmm sounds good.

Awwww poor Sydney! They were still lighting some here today too. Brock did well on the night of the fourth, but whe they are isolated he goes nuts! Brock send puppy hugs to Sydney.

It really does help to have support. :) I'm very surprised that Mark has gotten in to it the way that he has. :D The both of us definitely could stand a healthier diet. :)

Heehee! Thank Brock for the puppy hugs! :) Sydney is the same way with fireworks, she was pretty calm on the 4th with everything going off, but the several HUGE ones we had last night had her very upset. :P

The more I hear about Mark, the more he sounds like Joe... gravy, mayo.... fried foods... wow, they are cut from the same mold! I haven't yet gotten him to go walk with me yet. He would rather sit and play video games or watch movies.

I swear that Mark and Joe must have been separated at birth! :D I've always thought he sounded a lot like Mark as well. :) I'm not quite sure what it was that got Mark to join me - and he's actually having fun with it right now! :) Maybe one day Joe will surprise you and join you on your walk. :)

Now that I think about it, he did once surprise me when I went walking in the park. On my way back out of the park, he came walking up the trail toward me. :) Of course, he drove there, while I walked the mile from home. :)

Awww! But that's so sweet of him (even if he didn't walk there himself) ;)

:) Yeah, it was sweet of him when he did that. It was quite a while ago though. I love when he does little things like that.

Aww, hope Sydney is calmed down, no fun when you've got to deal with a dog that's scared by fireworks.
Sheri: Sherishutterbug93 on July 7th, 2004 01:34 am (UTC)
She's usually pretty good about fireworks, unfortunately in our neighborhood we have a lot of bomb type fireworks that shake the ground, and that scares her every time (it scares me too - so I can't really blame her!) ;)

Im so excited I think our new receptionist is going to join Curves tomorrow - so I will have someone to go with again! YAY! I so need to get back into it! Im proud of you for starting again! YAY!!! Its hard to get started... thats the hardest part!

And I cant believe you have already had your computer for a year... I remember you getting it... at least I think I do... and it totally doesnt seem like a year ago. Time flies huh?!?

That's so great that you have a work out buddy! :) That certainly helps to motivate me to go more often! And Mark has really gotten into this work out and diet thing too - much more than I would've thought. :) And I agree, starting is the hardest part.

Time really flies! :) It doesn't even feel like a year and a half that I've been on LJ...
