Great food, frog legs, and hubby can't tease me now! ;)
Today my favorite half of the year begins! :) This is the half of the year that Mark and I are the same age (at least numerically) ;) No more "I'm younger than you" jokes from him - until January, that is. ;)

We went to Chai's Island Bistro in the Aloha Tower Marketplace to celebrate his birthday. :) The food there was delicious and Mark was even brave enough to try the frog legs! :P I have to say that I'm pretty daring when it comes to exotic cuisine, but I couldn't bring myself to try it. :P He said it was like eating a strange mix of chicken and fish. In fact, he enjoyed it so much that he wants to go back so he can order it again. :P The whole time he was eating it I kept thinking about those poor frogs in the eighth grade that we had to dissect. :P Blech...

Mark enjoyed the gifts I got him and enjoyed playing my version of "Who Wants to Be A Broadway Millionaire" in order to win his gifts. :) His main gift was really the airfare to NYC this past June, but I still wanted to get him little gifts and have him play silly games in order to win them. :) I have to say, his knowledge of Broadway has improved greatly in the last year. :)

Speaking of theatre (and when don't I?) :P, Lauren Kennedy was reported to have joined the cast of "Ten Commandments" with Kevin. :) This is going to be the second time I'll see her onstage - I saw her in LM when Pat & I went to NYC a couple of years ago.

And I still have not gotten my "Assassins" cast recording in the mail. :( I know that I shouldn't complain because it takes everything MUCH longer to get to us here (do they paddle it in by canoe? :P) but I keep reading about everyone else getting theirs and I'm getting a little antsy. :)

Okay, I'm off to take a shower and crawl into bed - it's been a long day.

hey, did you know that Hunter Foster was in "The Producers"? either way, if you haven't yet seen this show, I highly highly highly recommend it. I saw it back with the original cast, so I may be a little biased, plus I lurve Nathan and Susan Stroman and think they can do no wrong, which is why I'm not sure there's a dilemma with me getting a ticket to see their new show "The Frogs" at Lincoln Center.

hehe....pardon me replying to my own comment. somehow I didn't notice the bit about the frog's legs the first time around so it kind of makes my comment about Nathan's new show kinda funny. don't mind me, I think it's just a frog in my throat. ;)

Haha! I hadn't thought about that when I first read your comment this morning either. :D

Yeah, i have a friend who's crazy about Hunter (and likes to pinch his ass - ironically the two of you have the same name!) ;) I haven't seen "The Producers" yet... I've been reading a lot of things about "The Frogs" on the theatre boards - I'd be interested in hearing your opinion if you see it. :)

I've never had frog legs either, but the thought of formaldehyde, now that you've mentioned it, may seal it for me, too! LOL!

Haha! How horrible of me! I've ruined frog legs for you. :P Mark loved it, though and I thought I was adventurous with food (I've tried chicken feet, etc.) but I couldn't bring myself to try the frogs legs. :P

When I lived in Louisiana, my boss took my co-worker and I out for dinner and tried to interest us in frog legs . . . I begged off! I wasn't able to bring myself to enjoy either the possum or the snake a very eccentric friend served at his Christmas party a few years ago (wan smile).

yay! Happy belated bday to Mark! :)

I dared trying frog legs once when I was with Jenny and Su Gim....and this was daring as I had a huge fear of frogs...a phobia really! urghh... but yeah it tastes like chicken...but not much meat...so you have to cook it well for it to be good.

Thanks Smitha! I'll pass along your wishes to Mark. :)

You are definitely more daring than I am! Especially if you have a phobia of frogs. :P Mark did say there wasn't much meat too, but he loved it!

I'm glad you two had a wonderful time. :)

I've tried frog legs once. Not too bad actually.

I guess if I could get over what they are, maybe I'd find that I liked them. :)

Alligator is pretty tasty, too. :)

Happy belated birthday to Mark!

Luckily Hans is 3 and half years older than me :)

How's the adorable sheltie doing?

Thank you so much for your sweet wishes for Mark, I'll definitely pass along the message to him! :)

And you are lucky! I'm not used to being older than my significant other - I always used to date OLDER men. :)

Sydney is doing great, thanks so much for asking! :) She's still as lovable and demanding as ever! ;) How's Into doing? :)
intootjeintootje on July 31st, 2004 03:00 am (UTC)
Into is fine. We finished the first agility course and we now have summer break. Into really loves agility! We need to find a new dog school because the old one is in the town where we don't live anymore.

I'm glad that you both had a wonderful time and that Mark enjoyed his gifts. :) Did I get it right, that he had to do something to get them?

Hope you will get your "Assassins" cast recording soon.

Hehe - yup, each year he has to "win" his gifts. :) I know it sounds rather silly, but instead of just giving him his birthday and Christmas presents he has to play a game of some sort to get them. One year I hid notes around the house and each note was a clue that led to the next note which finally led to his present. Poor guy has to work for it. ;)

Thank you, Sabine! I hope it comes soon too!

Hope you're having a nice week. *HUGS*

I think that is a neat idea about playing games for gifts. :) I'm glad you both had a nice time.

Thanks Laura. :) We hardly ever give each other big gifts (we usually give each other the gift of travel) :) so it's a nice way to make the gift giving fun. ;)
