My silly car dilemma...
...Today was the first day that I realized I should never take trivial little things (like car windows closing) for granted. Sounds really stupid, but the motor on my power window broke on me during my lunch break at school. :P I suppose I could've left my car there with the window wide open but in that neighborhood it would've been like a HUGE neon sign that said "Steal everything that's in me!" :P

So, I drove down to the dealership near my school hoping they could look at it and maybe see if it could be fixed so I could at least salvage a portion of the day... No luck! There was a 7 to 10 day wait just to get me into their "computer system" so I could have my car looked at. :P The guy in the service department was extremely rude too - he had a "what do you want to me to do? Act like I care?" attitude. :P

So I called my instructor and told him I was having car problems and wouldn't be back for the second half of the class. He was really upset, though since I was his only student this term - he really didn't have a class to teach today. :( I really felt bad about it - and was too embarrassed to tell him exactly what kind of car problems I was having. :P I ended up driving my car across town to the dealership where I purchased it.

I felt really stupid telling them my huge car problem was a power window that wouldn't close - how lame is that? :P But they were really nice, very funny, and made me feel much better about the whole thing. :) The best part? My car doesn't have 36,000 miles on it yet, so it was still under warranty! :D That NEVER happens to me! I always just miss it by a month or something. :P

It was actually a blessing in disguise that the other dealership was so rude to me. If they had taken a look at my car and had fixed the motor on the window, I was looking at paying about $450. :P So hurray for rudeness today, I guess. ;)

In other news, I strained a muscle on my left side tonight working out. :( Mark had to yell at me to stop exercising because I can be really hard headed (nah, me?) ;) at times and I was set on doing the whole workout even though I was in pain. :P Tomorrow might have to be a day of rest for me. :P

Hope you all have a nice evening - I'm off to crawl into the shower. :P

Just did it! :) What did I vote for? ;)

Sleep well! *hug*

I hope you aren't in pain tomorrow. I did something similar to my foot on Monday doing a workout video. It feels like a huge Charlie Horse has been it all day today. The shower should help.
Sheri: Sherishutterbug93 on August 4th, 2004 08:56 am (UTC)
Actually I do feel much better today - the shower really did help, thanks so much Laura! I hope your foot is feeling better today too! :( What workout video are you doing? :)
karmastyxkarmastyx on August 4th, 2004 03:43 pm (UTC)
I am doing Sweatin' to the Oldies 3. It is light enough for me to do, but still makes me sweat. LOL! I was stupid and did the workout with no shoes on, so the foot pain was my fault. As I commented before, you inspired me, so I have been eating healthy and working out/walking for the past few days. It is a good start for me.
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on August 5th, 2004 12:12 am (UTC)
Oh that's a great workout! :) And I've worked out in the house without shoes on before too. :( Hope your foot is feeling better! :( And WOO HOO!!! I think it's SO great that you've been eating healthy and working out!!! Sounds like you're doing wonderfully! :) And your comment is SO sweet, but I really don't think I would've been able to get through any part of this diet without all of your encouragement. :) I think it's because of you that I'm still on this diet. :)Big *HUGS* to you, Laura!!

Well together we can keep it up! I can use all the support I can get. Tommy is even helping me out, by eating healthy. He said he wants/needs to lose weight too, and he will try to walk with me on his days off. Hugs back Sheri!

Sorry to hear about your car. I'm glad it's getting fixed though. :)

Take care of yourself and don't work too hard. *hugs*

Thanks, Carrie. :)

hmmm...I think I should go get my window checked. It's making some funky noises... he he... I don't think it's a silly thing to go get it fixed! :) They might even steal the whole car itself! no fun!

muscle soreness and me seem to be becoming friends. But yes you should slow down if you feel cramps or pain during your work out!! :)
Sheri: Sherishutterbug93 on August 4th, 2004 09:01 am (UTC)
Yes, you really should get it checked out! And I never really thought of anyone trying to take my car itself -- I think the things inside my car are worth more than my silly car. ;) To make matters worse, it's been storming recently - SO not good for a wide open window. :P

Hope you're feeling better, and you're completely right about slowing down. I feel much better this morning and I guess I'll have to see how I feel this evening before I try to do the work out again tonight. Thanks, Smitha!

Sometimes my sunroof sticks open... grrr! But my car is way past its warranty period. Oh yea, and the driver's side window only goes down 1/3 of the way... then gets stuck. Sometimes it won't even go down. I am so worried it will get stuck down.

I hope your side feels better soon.
Sheri: Sherishutterbug93 on August 4th, 2004 09:04 am (UTC)
Oh that's a problem too! I've never opened my sunroof so no fear of that sticking open, though with all the rain we've been having lately that would be a big problem too. :) I'd been having problems with my driver's side window ever since I got pulled over for that traffic ticket. One day I knew it just WOULDN'T go up. Unfortunately that was yesterday. :P

And thanks so much, Andrea! I'm actually feeling much better this morning. :) Hope you're feeling much better from your long week of massages and RFL. :)

Yes, I am feeling "normal" again now. Thank goodness... but it was so worth it. I can't wait for next year's relay.

Glad your car window is all fixed. I keep saying that I don't want "automatic seatbelts" or "power windows" again, but then my car is 11 years old now. So, they are bound to wear out.
Sheri: Sherishutterbug93 on August 5th, 2004 12:03 am (UTC)
I'm so glad your feeling back to normal again. :)

I have to agree! When I bought my car that was the one thing I didn't want too - power windows. :P And now I remember why. :P
ajayne on August 5th, 2004 07:58 am (UTC)
Same here... I wanted "power nothing" except steering. In one car I had those aotumoatic seatbelts (well, this car has them too) and the one on the driver's seat broke... the motor stopped and it was forever in the "back" position so I had to crawl in and out of my seatbelt. Fortunately, the lap belt wasn't like that. That would have been really difficult!

I'm sorry to hear about your strained muscle and I hope it's not so bad. Once Monika had it on her back, she barely could move for a week.

Hope you had a nice day without unpleasant surprises. How good that your car still was under warranty. Please, take care Sheri.
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on August 5th, 2004 12:05 am (UTC)
Oh, poor Monika! :( Luckily my strained muscle isn't too bad. It feels better today, but I'm not going to tempt fate and try working out tonight - tomorrow will be soon enough. :)

Thank you for your nice thoughts Sabine! *HUGS* Hope that you're feeling better this morning (and that you have more light) ;)

Awww thanks so much! :) And I am taking a day off today, but I'll be back at it tomorrow! ;)

And I was SO glad that it was still under warranty! I usually never have that kind of luck. Usually I hear - the warranty ran out yesterday so we'll have to charge you a ton! :P ;)

Take care and thanks for your sweet comments! :)
