Yuki dog and happy Kevin thoughts :)
My Mom called today to make boarding reservations for her dog, Yuki for late October when she'll be away in Japan. The place she usually boards Yuki was completely booked for the weekend and so was the place where we board Sydney... (Is there something going on the last weekend of October that would make everyone want to board their dogs?) She did manage to find another vet/boarding place near her house so she made reservations there, but after calling them she really started to have second thoughts about the place. It was pretty unnerving to her that when she asked if they needed Yuki's vaccination records, their reply was, "No,... your dog's healthy, right?" :P Sorry, but I really wouldn't trust a place like that if I were her! :P

I wish that we could watch her dog for her, but Yuki and Sydney have a long history of not getting along (We actually bought Yuki for our family, but Sydney ended up getting extremely ill from all the stress that we ended up giving Yuki away to my Mom.) Sadly, dog-sitting for my Mom won't be an option for us. :(

In Kevin news, this REALLY surprised me! :D It's been ages since Kevin's posted a message on his message board and I've really missed seeing his posts. :) I'm so glad that he received the Big Island Candies Mark & I sent him for opening night (yes, I did end up sending them) :) This is just another reason that I'll always adore the man - he's always so thoughtful and gracious. :)

And THANK YOU to dreamstoearn for directing me to some nice comments about the show and Kevin's performance on Cary Shields' message board. :) I really did need all those positive words today. :)

Yuki is a Japanese Spitz. :) And I agree, that place doesn't sound too safe to board her. :P

Big Island Candies are only found on the Big Island and they have THE best chocolate dipped shortbread cookies ever. :) I once gave a box of them to Kevin when I went to his concert and he really loved them - so I thought I'd get it for him again. :) What a better gift than chocolate? ;)

What kind of dog does your Mom have? I don't think I would want to board my dog at that place either. Mortie preferes being the only doggie in the house too. We watch our neighbor's dog when she goes away. Mort will tolerate her for a while, then he gets jealous.

Yuki is a Japanese Spitz. :) And I think that Sydney was unable to deal with Yuki because as a puppy, Yuki was very energetic and kept terrorizing poor Sydney. She'd bite at Sydney and back her into a corner and just bite off chunks of her fur. :( It was so bad that we had to separate them and when Sydney started to develop stomach problems because she had so much anxiety, we decided that we had to give Yuki away - luckily my Mom took her in and we can still see her grow up. :)

that place sounds scary. what about hiring a professional pet-sitter instead? their rates are about the same as boarding, and at least Yuki can stay in her own home.

It does sound scary! And I've never thought about a pet-sitter, but I'll look into it for my Mom. My Mom did say she was going to be in the area next week, so she was going to stop by to check the place out - which I think is a good idea. :P

One of my friends has a dog with epilepsy, and at least once they had to hire a pet-sitter. I remember they were very pleased with the service they got, so it's something to consider.

That place really does not sound so good. Perhaps, your Mom still can find anything else? Here you e. g. could find "animal sitter" or people which are living in your home (house keeper?) and take care of your home and your animal while you are in vacation.

Lauser always was jealous when I took care of Buster, Ingrid's dog. He even liked not to drink the same water like Buster and was happy when Ingrid came to pick up Buster. I think, he loved her for that. :)

Please, take care of yourself, Sheri. *Hugs*

I was pretty worried for Yuki when my Mom told me what happened. :P I've been looking around a bit for another boarding place, but it seems like every one of them is booked. :P I will try to talk with my Mom about a pet-sitter, though. :)

And that is an adorable story about Lauser. :) *HUGS* to you, Sabine! Please take care too!
