Insomnia :P
Just exactly why I'm up at 3am is beyond me. :P The audit at work is over (thank goodness!) and hopefully that'll mean that my need to eat everything around me will subside (at least before I'm back to my pre-diet weight) :P and I know I've never mentioned this here before - but my CIW exam is later this morning. :P

Part of me knows that I'm going to fail the exam and that's why I never mentioned it. :P I kept putting it off (I think I re-scheduled it at least 3 times) :P and though I love this web stuff, I haven't been able to fully invest the kind of time I need to study adequately for it (and I could make a whole bunch of excuses for it like my real job stress - but I won't, because that's lame :P). I'm really taking it because it's part of the tuition package I paid for and it'd be nice to have - however I'm fully prepared for the possibility of failing it today. :P

In other non-exam related news, I've been having a bit of trouble with my site for Julie Ann recently. In doing searches for her, I noticed a lot of the photos that I've used on the site have been taken by others for use on their sites. :P I know that it's a common internet problem, but it still upsets me that even after putting up disclosures all over the photos and the site, some people will still take the photos and use them for their own purposes. :P I'd like to email people about them (especially because those photos came from Julie herself and she asked me to help make sure others don't use them), but every email I've drafted makes me sound awful. :P How is it possible to tell people not to steal things in a nice way? :P

Finally, in fuzzy dog news - I think Sydney and I are finally on good terms again. :) It's taken her a while to really warm up to me after coming home from my trip. When I first came home, she followed me around the house wherever I went, but would never sit or lie down next to me. It's taken a while, but she's finally back to her affectionate self and will snuggle with me on the bed or couch while I watch TV again. :) I guess I didn't realize that dogs have some major trust issues too. :(

Well, I'd better get back to studying. Hope you're all doing well. :)

Is it possible for you to password or somehow restrict access to things which need to be protected? (And they don't GET access until you confirm their email address is valid by having them email back to you to validate their account.) I don't know how complicated that would be but at least it would give you some kind of control over who gets access.
There are plenty of nice ways to tell people it isn't nice to steal but there are plenty of non-nice people who will do it anyhow. If you email the site owners I'd probably say something along the lines of "I noticed such and such on your site. I hope that wasn't lifted from my site. Julie Ann is very protective of her privacy and I don't want to have to restrict access to her site." Just a couple of thoughts.

Thanks for your wonderful suggestions, Laura! :) I'm not sure how difficult it would be to restrict access to the photos in certain areas, but I think that I'll probably just have to go back and re-watermark my photos (which was really my last resort and I really hate doing it). Thanks so much for your suggestions for the email to the site owners. I actually sent one out last night and after about 20 revisions to it, :P I think it turned out okay. :) I got a response from him this morning and he wasn't upset at all, just very apologetic. Thanks so much for your input. :)

That makes the two of us. Why am awake at an ungodly hour, beats me. Well, good luck on your study. Keep thinking the positive that you WILL pass this test and it'll come to pass....

Once I asked somebody if I could use a photo but I never got an answer. So, out of if a photo belongs to a magazine's article, I stopped to use photos which I found on the internet since I never really know if people doesn't like/like it.

I'm glad to hear that you and Sydney are on good terms again. :) It's a bad feeling if a dog is offended or missing trust, isn't it?

Good luck with your CIW exam. *crossing fingers*

*Hugs* to you, Sheri

Thank you so much for your sweet wishes about the exam, Sabine. :) And it did take a while before Sydney and I were back to the way we were before my trip. When I came home she was affectionate, but not in exactly the same way as she is now (I can tell I have her complete trust now) - I'm not sure if that makes any sense, but it's something that no one else could tell (Mark didn't believe me) but I could feel. :P Luckily things are back to normal again. :)

*HUGS* to you, Sabine! Thanks for your thoughts. :)

Thanks so much for sweet wishes for the exam, Kristen! :) It's taken Sydney longer than I expected to warm back up to me after this past trip. :P Mark didn't notice a difference, but there was something different that I picked up on that no one else could tell. Thankfully everything seems to be okay again. :)

I know what you mean...when Gill and I had a page for Tim Howar and Regan Thiel, a couple people used some of our pics without asking, too. I agree that it's hard to know how to approach the subject, too. Maybe just say that you're excited to find someone else who is interested in Julie Ann and her career, but you were just concerned because you put a lot of work into your website and had some personal photos given to you; perhaps you could suggest a link to your site instead, or something like that?

Wow - I didn't know that you two were the ones who ran that web page! :) And it always seems to be a hard subject to approach with people. Sadly internet stealing has become so common these days. :P There are tons of pictures I'd love to put up of Kevin and Julie but can't yet because I haven't received the go-ahead from others. :P But I do like your suggestion for how to word my emails - in fact, I sent one last night and got a nice response back in return. :) Thanks so much for your help, Karen! :)

Yeah, that was us! We sadly sort of stopped keeping it up a long while ago - years ago now. And besides, Tim moved to England and married Ruthie Henshall and started having children. :) Regan is the only one we see and talk to now. :)

Anyway, I'm glad I was able to help!

I read your results of your test. Sorry you didn't pass.

I'm glad Sydney is warming up to you again.

Our dogs give us the "talk to the paw" treatment when we come back from a trip, rather than spazzing out like we always expect. Usually it lasts anywhere from a day to a few. Glad Syd's warmed up again!
