The biggest news in our office today was the sudden appearance of rats all over the second floor of our branch (which is the floor that's occupied by those of us in the investment department) :P Blech! Apparently, the construction that they've been doing on the third floor has been causing all the rats in the storage room upstairs to run down to our floor looking for new homes. :P My boss found evidence that a rat had been in her office (the side of her wall was chewed into and the molding had been chewed off) :P Ick! As if work isn't bad enough sometimes, constantly worrying about running in to one of those furry guys is VERY unnerving.

On a much nicer, less disturbing note - WOO HOO to Nick for winning the Ovation Award last night for his direction of "1776"! :D Really, he's SUCH a talented director - I'm just so happy for all his recent successes. The best part about him is that as talented and as accomplished as he is, he has got to be sweetest, most unassuming guy that I know. And I must sound like a broken record about him, but I just adore him to bits. :)

Mark is stopping by on his way home to purchase the new Metroid Prime game that just came out today. He's also been seriously thinking of getting an Xbox just so he can play some game called Halo. I'm happy for him though, because his games are to him what my musicals are to me. :) We all need our stress relievers, right? ;)

Finally, the weather has been uncharacteristically cold recently. I love cold weather so I'm certainly not complaining. :) Sydney must like it too, because she's become unusually more affectionate lately. :) Hope you all have a nice evening - hubby is finally home so I'll be back after we grab a bite to eat to catch up with all of you. :)

Just becareful to not touch your face a lot until they take care of the rat problem. Make sure to wash your hands a lot too. ICK!
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on November 16th, 2004 10:28 pm (UTC)
Oh, I've been washing my hands a lot! :P This rat problem is pretty bad. :( Blech!
morsefan: Me 2morsefan on November 16th, 2004 09:40 pm (UTC)
Yeesh! vis a vis the rats. Unbelievable, but I guess it just goes to show you what we don't know about until we start disturbing the foundations below us. Actually, now that I think of it, some novelist or short-story writer has probably already explored that one (LOL!). I have a crawl space under my house that is really easy to get to and cats etc. go under there (to be mauled my my cat, I've discovered!), but a couple of times I've been sitting out really late and an animal I absolutely DO NOT recognize comes waltzing into the yard, and of course takes off as soon as it sees me, but it freaks me out completely. Yuck! Stay safe!
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on November 16th, 2004 10:30 pm (UTC)
Oh my goodness, that would freak me out too! The rat problem is a bit disturbing to me because I tend to spen more time in my office than I do anywhere else (unfortunately, sometimes including my own house) - that's the last place I'd want to have to worry about rodents. ICK! :P
morsefan: Me 2morsefan on November 17th, 2004 05:36 pm (UTC)
We get some of the fun ones, too, like rabbits, and of course, they and squirrels are what you see 99 percent of the time. I think I'm pretty well off -- I used to think Piccadilly was a bit of a mama's boy, but now I think he does a good job of taking care of business keeping them away. That one night recently I saw something a little scary, he appeared immediately, and patrolled the backyard for about an hour!

Ugh... rats. When I was a kid one of the houses we lived in had them and at night we could hear them in the walls. it was so gross!

Joe LOVES his XBox. :)
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on November 16th, 2004 10:32 pm (UTC)
I would freak if I could hear them inside the walls. :P We have a bunch of traps set out for them, but the last thing I'd want to see in the morning is that we'd caught one. :P

Joe and Mark - I tell you, they must've been twins in another life, I swear. ;)
ajayne on November 17th, 2004 08:18 am (UTC)
Yeah, I wouldn't want to see them stuck in a trap either. Ick! I hope the problem is taken care of soon though.

Yeah, I think Joe and Mark were twins or something in another life.
Carriecarrieh on November 16th, 2004 11:47 pm (UTC)
Urgh, I hope the rat problem is sorted soon. I know how horrid it is to hear them in the walls, you wouldn't believe the noise they can make. We had a student house which had an empty house next door to it and obviously there were rats next door which got into the cavity wall. Guess how we found out what they were - we phoned the police because with all the noise we thought we had squatters next door!
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on November 17th, 2004 02:32 am (UTC)
Ick! I hope they solve the rat problem soon too. :P The thought of them running all around our workplace is so unsanitary! Blech! :P And haha! What a hilarious story about calling the police! :D
Carriecarrieh on November 17th, 2004 09:30 am (UTC)
The police said straight away they more than likely knew what it was because they get so many calls from people thinking next door has burglars etc when it's actually rats.

Get yourself some of those hygiene (sp?) for wiping down your desk / keyboard etc. I'd want to make sure everything was at least clean first thing in the morning.
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on November 18th, 2004 08:04 pm (UTC)
That's a great idea - in fact, I've been using anti-bacterial gel on my hands a lot recently (because of the rats and because one of my co-workers now has pink eye) :P
ajayne on November 17th, 2004 08:15 am (UTC)
And to think, I went to the pet store once and bought a rat for a pet. :)

your icon is too cute.

Awww, thanks Stacey! Nick gives the best hugs. :)

Woah it's been cold where you are. You should try here, it's COOOOOOOLD. ;-) We can say, "It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas."

Halo...ooooooh he wants to play that game. That is uhm....well good/bad. *L*
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on November 17th, 2004 02:28 am (UTC)
I have some co-workers who live in Mililani and they said it was freezing there! It must be REALLY cold where you are!

Why bad? I haven't really heard anything about the game, just that he wants to play it - I might try to get him it (w/the XBox) as a combo anniversary / Christmas present. :) I'll have to see how my money situation is - I might have to get it for him in installments. :)
Kananigirlkananigirl on November 17th, 2004 11:25 am (UTC)
Yeeeep! It's been cold! Good reason to stay in bed when the weather is like that. *L*

I was just saying that Halo is addicting, so good/bad. Then again if you like blowing up stuff, then... *LOL* I haven't played it, but I know it's THE GAME out right now. By me a PS2. *L*

I love the icon! What a nice pic of the 2 of you! ". He's also been seriously thinking of getting an Xbox just so he can play some game called Halo" That made me laugh! Right now there are tons of teen gamers that are probably having heart attacks at that statement, and I live with 1 of them!
Which is the ONLY reason I know about that game! lol. I have to argee though, games are a great stress reliever!
Mortie loves the colder weather too! Glad Syd is finally coming around.
Sheri: Sheri & Nickshutterbug93 on November 18th, 2004 07:56 pm (UTC)
Aww, thanks Barb! :) Nick is the sweetest man - not to mention one of the most talented directors in LA. :) It's too funny, but I'd never heard of the game before Mark told me about it and then I went into Software, Etc the other day and there were signs EVERYWHERE for the game. :P

Sydney gets very affectionate during the cold weather season - it's certainly something for me to look forward to! :)
irisheyes77 on November 17th, 2004 07:51 am (UTC)
Ugh about the rats!

An XBOX would be a great Christmas present! They've really come down in price since they first came out.
Sheri: Familyshutterbug93 on November 18th, 2004 07:58 pm (UTC)
I saw an XBox at Software, Etc. the other day and I was shocked at how reasonable it was. :) At least I have a gift idea this year - last year I had NO idea what to get him for Christmas! :P
Sabine: Mickisabine10 on November 17th, 2004 08:52 am (UTC)
At Monika's workplace once were rats and they had to call special people (they are called here "chamber hunter" and you also can call them if you have trouble with any kind of vermin) to solve the problem. Well, while I don't mind to see a rat outside at the riding stable it really is a bad thought to have them at the workplace. Hope you workplace will be without rats, soon!

Glad to hear that you right now like the weather. :) Here it was too warm today but, according to the weather forecast, we shall get a bit snow at the weekend. I'm curious to see if they are right. :)

Sheri: Sydney - happyshutterbug93 on November 18th, 2004 08:01 pm (UTC)
So far our traps that we have set out hasn't caught any of the rats yet (though I think the last thing I'd want to see is a rat caught in a trap, though) :P Hopefully, they'll leave the second floor and go back to wherever they were before and leave us alone. :P

Wow - snow already? Will that be the first snow of the season? I've always loved visiting places with snow, but I don't think I could live in it.

Hope you have a nice weekend (and vacation), Sabine!! :) *HUGS* to you and please give one to Micki for me! :)
Sabine: Maulwurlsabine10 on November 18th, 2004 11:22 pm (UTC)
Yes, it would be the first snow. What means, when I woke up and looked out of the window today morning I saw white roofs. :) Sometime during the night it had snowed but it's only a little snow - no snow on the roads, up to now.

Not only but also in winter you are always welcome to visit me. And yes, I also wish that some friends would not live so far away - it really would be great to meet you.

Now it's again a little snowing and I'll go for a walk with Micki. :) She loves to be petted and enjoyed very much your hug and sends back a *wagging with her tail with a smile*. If Sydney is in the mood for a hug please give her one for me. :)

Hope you have a nice Friday. :)

*Hugs* to you
