More Exams :P and in need of some help from some Millie experts!
Just how I got railroaded into being the one in my office to have to take the dreaded Series 53 (Municipal Securities Principal) exam, I will never know. :P After last week's audit, a note came down from our home office saying that someone needed to take and pass that exam within the next three weeks. That note was directed at someone in our office who had said he would take the test a year ago to get him moving on it. However, my BIG boss decided that it should be ME who takes the exam. How unfair is that? Normally I wouldn't be opposed to taking it, but there is practically NO WAY that they could expect me to study for and pass this thing on SUCH short notice (especially during the holiday season). :P I know this is such an awful thing for me to be complaining about (especially since there are much worse things that others are going through right now), but I just can't help feeling taken advantage of. :(

On a much more pleasant note, Mark & I have finally finalized our plans for Thanksgiving. :) We always spend the day with Mark's side of the family and the evening with my Mom. :) This year we were invited to my uncle's house for dinner so my Mom, Mark, and I will be spending the evening there. And being that I'm in need of study time :P, I'll probably just pick up several Ted's Bakery pies for the day instead of trying to cook anything. How are you all spending the holiday?

And finally, I have a HUGE favor to ask of starstruck113 or crissyj or anyone else who is a little more familiar with the Millie ensemble than I am. :) I'm still working on Kevin's birthday video and really need to identify the three girls in this video clip. I know that it's Shannon Hammons on the left, and possibly Jessica Dillan in the middle, but who is the one all the way to the right? Is that Emily Rozek? Thanks so much if anyone is able to help me out with this! :) Here's the photo:

I'm sorry you have to take that test. Good luck w/that.

Thanksgiving is going to be at home. It'll be me, mom, and dad. Laura, Tommy, and Roger will be coming over too. Maybe a few other people here and there. People always seem to pop in during the day lol.

I think that what upsets me the most isn't that I have to take it, it's that I'm the one who gets stuck with things that they want to push off on other people. :P Three weeks of study time isn't enough for this exam and if I fail it, our Broker Dealer will be in HUGE trouble. They can't expect me to take the brunt of that responsiblity. :P :[

Sounds like you have a nice Thanksgiving lined up! Hope you have a nice one! :)

That sucks that you have to be the one taking the exam. I guess, the moral of the story is not to hating anything too much, you might just end up with it! :P Something a prof taught us! *sigh*

Thanksgiving... I miss thanksgiving. It was one time where the non-local bunch turned family and celebrated together in Hawaii! :( It's one holiday that turned my favorite time of the year. I miss it! *sigh*

Thanks Smitha. :) Normally I wouldn't be against taking the exam, but I just find it really unfair that I have to take it with someone else's time frame (who has known about the exam and has been made a commitment to it for a year). He was given the whole year to study - I'm just given three weeks. :P Sorry - I guess I'm just panicking because I know I won't pass and am very upset with my management right now for the way they've chosen to deal with this. :P

And I do love Thanksgiving. :) It's so nice that those who were from out of town came together to celebrate. We used to do that when I was living in Santa Barbara as well. A bunch of us would gather in the courtyard of our apartment building for a huge dinner since Thanksgiving was the one holiday that no one got to go home for. It is one of the nicest times of the year. :)

I think they know you too well. If you are like me, my heart would say not to waste time on studying and fail it! But guess the reality would be that I would work my butt off and try! arggh... people who take advantage of people like that drive me nuts!

That is SOO not fair to expect you to take a test in three weeks time, especially during this time of the year. You are going to stress out so much over studying for it and then almost being set up to fail (how could you possible pass in such short notice?!) -- it's going to make you wonky! *HUG* So not fair. >:/

Your Thanksgiving sounds fun tho. Fred & I are just going to hang out here and really have kind of a low-key and relaxing day.

Thanks so much for understanding, Rita! After I posted the message last night I felt a little bad for complaining because so many good things have happened to me as a result of my job. I will try to study for it and do my best in the little time I have, hopefully I can talk to my BIG boss on Monday and see if I can get an extension from our home office.

And I think your Thanksgiving with Fred sounds lovely! A relaxing day at home with your hubby is the best way to spend the holiday. :)

Hey! I was just skimming my friends page and saw my name and was like WOAH lol~ but yeah, that is Shannon, Jessica Dillon and Emily! :) Happy Birthday Kevin and good luck with your tests, blah!!

Thanks Lauren! :) I thought it might be her, but her headshot in the playbill looks nothing like her in the video. Anyway, we've finally finished Kevin's birthday video (just in time too!) and your clip from all the way back in February (yes, I plan these things REALLY far in advance) is on it too. :)
crissyj on November 20th, 2004 07:53 pm (UTC)
Yay I think I was on that too!

And sorry I didnt respond, I just read this.

Yup, you're in his video too! :D Thanks so much for helping me out with it. :) He's going to get a kick out of all of his Millie messages - especially the ones from all of you all the way back in February. :)

Thanks so much for understanding, Kristen. :) I've decided to try my best to study for it and hopefully I'll be able to pass it. If I don't feel ready for it by my deadline, I'll have to ask my BIG boss if I could get an extension from the home office - after all, three weeks is not a long time and I don't even have the study material yet. :P Thanks for all your supportive comments.

I'm sorry to hear about the exam. To me, it's unfair that you have to take it.

But your plans how to spend Thanksgiving sound nice. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in any special way. I only know that they at Monika's workplace cook "vegetable-soup" together with the children and that there are special church services.

Hope you are having a nice weekend, Sheri.

*Hugs*

Thanks, Sabine. I've decided to try my best and see if I can actually pass the exam in three weeks. If not, and I don't feel ready, surely the home office might be able to grant me an extension - seeing as how three weeks is hardly enough time to study for it. :P

Monika's workplace's tradition of cooking soup with the children sounds like a wondeful way of celebrating the holiday. I'm not much of a turkey eater, but I love the holiday because it means I'll get to spend time with my family! :)

*HUGS* to you Sabine - hope your weekend is going well too. :)

Well as unfair as it is, I honestly hope you can pass. I'm almost positive you will. :) Just don't overdue the studying.

I was going to spend Thanksgiving with Tommy's family, but his mom said she didn't mind if we did or not. She just wants Christmas time with us. LOL. We are spending it with my parents, Care, and Roger. It should be a nice time.

Sounds like you all have a nice Thanksgiving lined up. :) It's always so wonderful to get to spend time with family. :)
