Mark & I spent last night with Susan and her husband for our annual Christmas dinner. :) We chose a place in Waikiki not knowing that a HUGE event (movie night on the beach) was the same night. :P The streets were packed! We were literally driving around aimlessly looking for parking for an hour and a half. :P It was so bad that Mark almost wanted to give up and go home. :P Luckily for us, we finally found a space at the zoo and though we were about an hour late, we were still able to have a really nice dinner.
My department's Christmas party was on Friday night - so it's been an entire weekend of too much food! :P The party was a lot of fun and such a change from the other years. Mark & I always tend to sit on the table with the "back office folks" even before I was assigned there. Somehow our personality fits better there than with the loud salespeople that were usually on the other tables. We'd have a good time talking and usually leave at an early hour and leave the late night partying to the salespeople. We'd always look over at their loud tables and wonder what was going on, but never really want to go there to find out.
Well, oddly enough, this year it was the other way around! Mark & I were on the "back office" table as usual, but this year - it was OUR table that was the loud one that didn't leave until the very end! We were so loud, in fact, that some of the salepeople ended up coming over to check to see what was going on since their tables were so quiet. We were just having so much fun that I didn't even realize that we were the only ones left toward the end of the evening. That never happens! We all had such a fun time, though and I think that it's testiment to the fact that we just have such a great team in our back office. That's one of the reasons I could never leave my job!
And finally, in theatre / Kevin news - Someone from Kevin's message board went to a concert at the University of Judaism last night (where Kevin did the Mother's Day concert a couple of years ago) and saw him there! It was a concert featuring songs from Yip Harburg and Kevin was there performing with Ali Porter (from Ten Commandments) as well as a few other local LA theatre performers. :) The man is such a work-a-holic, I tell you! :) He really needs some time off! ;)
And thanks to intootje, i_am_angieface, smittenbyu, careleswhisper, and hubbaswuba for the sweet and thoughtful Christmas cards. :) They really made our day to see them in our mailbox. :) Special thanks to irisheyes77 and orion74 for the extremely thoughtful gift! We love it! :)
I'm off to try to mull over whether I need to endure the malls today! :P I'm almost finished with my holiday shopping, hopefully I'll be able to finish this week without actually having to go anywhere "shopping" related today. Hope you're all having a nice weekend. :)
