I'm not exactly sure when the fact that I was leaving on vacation in less than a week turned from a sense of happiness and anticipation into a sense of complete panic. :P There are just SO many things I need to finish at work and as the days until my NYC trip lessen, my panic only increases. :P *takes deep cleansing breath*

Speaking of NYC, I've been noticing that the weather there has been getting colder. My Mom was happy to hear that they were ranging in the 50's last week. It might sound crazy to some, but I was hoping for the traditional cold NYC in January weather. We have no seasons here so traveling in colder weather is sometimes half the fun for me. Weird, I know. :P

Had a meeting downtown today and met the others from our back office for some of the best Chinese food I've ever eaten in my life! :) It was a small, hole-in-the-wall place near our main branch where we actually had to walk through an alley to get to. I never would've found it or thought to go in if it wasn't for one of the reps who joined us. :) The food was SO delicious and so reasonable too! I got a HUGE plate of Crispy Gau Gee Mein for only $4.75! :) It's a shame I don't work in the downtown area, I'd eat there a lot (and probably gain a lot of weight in the process!) :P

I've been busy trying to put a bunch of songs on my iPod before I leave on my trip next week. With a 10+ hour plane ride, I'll need all the variety I can get. :) I finally found my "Bounce" CD so that's going on there, plus I still haven't put "Parade," "A Class Act," or "A Chorus Line" on it yet. I think a definite stop when I'm in NYC is the Virgin Megastore! I need to expand my cast recording collection and the chances of me finding anything I'm looking for here are slim to none. The guy at the Tower here looked at me like I was insane last year when I asked them if they had "Parade." :P

I'm off to catch up with all of you and then it's back to my iPod. :) Hope you all have a nice evening!

Try not to panic too much. You'll be ready. :) I bet loading your iPod is fun. We got a MyFi for XM sattelite radio on a free employee promotion through Tommy's work. It is very cool. They normally sale for $350, we got it free as long as we signed up for 6 months of service costing only $60. :) I was going through the stations, and they have a Broadway one, and I thought of you. :)

Wow, wow, wow! That new icon photo of you is just stunning! You've lost SO much weight, Laura! You look SO fabulous! :D

And I love my iPod, it's so much fun to load up with stuff. :) And woo hoo for your Broadway station! :) I could really get into that. :)

Oh that comment was so sweet... thanks Sheri. :) I still have a lot to go, but it's going away at a good pace.

I agree with Sheri's comment. I mean, I thought that you looked great before, but just skimming over the pictures, I didn't even recognize you at first!

Oh wow Amanda thank you. :) That was a sweet comment.

Try Amazon. They have a bunch of wonderfully obscure stuff. My most recent order had jems like Ben Franklin in Paris and Hallelujah Baby and Lucky Stiff. You'll see more on my wish list.
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 7th, 2005 03:35 pm (UTC)
I usually end up going to Amazon as a last resort. I've had a few problems with them in the past and I'm not really a fan of theirs. I have to admit that in the couple of years since writing that post, my experiences with them have been much better. I know I should probably bury my old grudge, but I still sort of shudder when I hear a mention of them.
Daniel the California Highway Guycahwyguy on January 7th, 2005 03:41 pm (UTC)
Hmm. I've never had any problems with Amazon itself. I've had a few marketplace problems, so I now stick with 4.9 or 5.0 star folks and make sure to read comments (but folks can safely buy from me: I currently have about 80 CDs up for sale there).

I suggest burying your grudge.

I don't recall listening to Parade. I'll have to add it to my already-long wish list!

I'm so excited for you over your trip!!! I haven't been to New York City since 1994 and would like to go again someday. We saw "Tommy" and "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" while we were there.
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 9th, 2005 03:52 am (UTC)
Oh you saw "Tommy?" Now I'm jealous! :) And NYC has changed a lot since the 90's, it's so much more family oriented now and cleaner - almost reminds me of Disneyland! :)
irisheyes77 on January 9th, 2005 04:33 am (UTC)
Yes, "Tommy" was awesome. We were there right after the first bombing of the WTC and we toured it (what limited parts were open to the public). I'm glad that we did now, after what happened on 9/11/01.

I think I understand that. I prefer spring and fall but, how much I might complain about the cold, I love that we have different seasons here. :)

Don't worry too much, I'm sure you will be ready in time. :) I hope you will have a great time in NYC. I'm already going to miss you but I'm also looking forward to the stories you hopefully will tell when you are back.

*Hugs*

Thanks Sabine! I did in fact finish the bulk of what I had to do before my trip on Friday - I locked myself in my office and everything thought I was really unsociable. :P I still have a few more things I need to complete, but it's looking more managable now. :)

*HUGS* to you, hope your day is better tomorrow!
queenstacey on January 7th, 2005 07:28 pm (UTC)
an ipod...sigh.... don't mind me as I drool over yours. LOL If I weren't a poor college student then I would buy one in an instant.

HUGS for the day from Stacey

Oh, I'm sorry, Stacey! :( I wouldn't have one either if it wasn't for the wonderful hubby! ;)

*HUGS* to you too, Stacey! Have fun with your new laptop! :)

The weather here has really been changing, too. It was in the 60s last week, but now we're having a horrible ice storm.

I've been to New York State, but never New York City. Have fun!
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 9th, 2005 04:01 am (UTC)
I heard about the ice storm there! I hope the weather gets better for you guys.

You and Amanda should really go to NYC one day - I think you'll both love it! Not only are there tons of shows to see, and shops to look at, but the WWF place is right there in Times Square too! ;)

NYC weather in January sounds like fun. :)

You'll get your stuff done. No need to panic or stress. :) Just relax and take a deep breath once in a while.
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 9th, 2005 04:03 am (UTC)
I love traveling in cold weather. :) Sounds weird, but it's one reason I love to go to NYC in the winter. :)

And I think I'm getting closer to getting everything under control before I leave. Friday was pretty crazy, but I think I have a handle on it now and I don't have to stress as much.

Exactly! On the plane ride to and from Hawaii, my iPod came in REAL handy!!
Are you stopping over anywhere on the way to NY or is it a direct flight?
Take lots of pictures for me!!!! I need to upload the pictures from Hawaii onto my domain. The 2 pictures of you and I, did you want me to email them to you? Could you email me the ones of us that were taken on your camera? I'd really appreciate it!!
Thank you!!
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 9th, 2005 04:05 am (UTC)
We're making one stopover on our way to NYC - in Cincinnati. I'm a little worried because of all the storms up there, hopefully it won't affect the flights. :P

I will definitely take a lot of pictures for you! :) And yes, please email me the photos of us from your trip here! I'll email you the ones on my camera too! :) Thanks so much! :)

Im just thrilled its been raining and in the 50's and 60's here lately!!! Thats awesome to me!!! ;-)

Have fun on your trip!!!

I love cold weather - which seems a little odd that I should be living in one of the hottest, most humid states. :P I heard about all the rain that you've been getting up there - that's great weather for me too! I love it when it's cold. :)

Thanks, Angie! :)
