Sorry I haven't been around much lately...
...it's been an odd combination of a sudden lack of any type of motivation and having to study for a new licensing exam for work. :P

My BIG boss told me the other day that our home office is pressuring him to get someone in our office Series 53 (municipal securities principal) licensed by the end of April! :( This is the same exam that I'd mentioned in an earlier post - how someone else in our office had been designated to take it a couple of years ago (but never did), and how it suddenly got pawned off on me. :P My BIG boss made it clear that I needed to take AND pass the exam by the 30th of April! :P UGH!

In order to ensure that I pass, I could either 1) give myself two chances to pass and take one exam at the end of this month (and if I fail) take it again before the end of April (since I have to wait 30 days between exams) OR 2) I could study up until the end of April and have only one chance to pass it (albeit a better chance...) I've decided to go the two chances route, which means that I'll have to take the exam on the 28th - unfortunately it also means that I only have a little more than 20 days to study and I just got the book yesterday! :P If this alone doesn't make me gain about 10 pounds from stress-eating this month, I'll seriously be surprised. :P

In other non-work related news, it's time for Sydney's once a month vet visit this morning. She's been a little better about going to the vet recently and will actually wag her tail when the vet assistants come up to pet her. We're very lucky that the vet's office that we go to has a team of very nice workers. The last time we were there they told us that Sydney had been voted "Sheltie who most looks like an ottoman" :) probably because of the cute fur on her hind legs that tends to look like a bed skirt. ;)

Speaking of Sydney, Mark & I have been noticing that her fur has been turning white in several areas. The tips of her ears have been turning white recently as well as the fur around her muzzle... I didn't know that dogs have to worry about white hair too. ;)

I'm off to catch up with all of you and try to get in some studying before Sydney's vet visit. Hope you all have a nice Saturday! :)

I didn't know that either! Mark & I were shocked when we started to notice it on Sydney! Poor doggie is going grey :( - just like her mommy! ;)

Thanks for the luck, Smitha! :) I'm really going to need it. :D

How old is Sydney?

Laddie (my original sheltie) did get a lot of grey in his muzzle. Ted, we're not too sure, as he's only 5 and has so much white in him to begin with, we're not sure we'd notice.

I love the Looking like an ottoman comment. What are her back legs like?

Sydney's seven years old. I can't believe it, since it seemed she was just a puppy yesterday. :(

Here's a photo that was taken of Sydney's *ahem* backside. :) She really does look like an ottoman. ;)

BTW, I love that photo in your icon - it's adorable! :)

She does kind of look like an ottoman. :o)

Ted is sleeker overall, he never got a very poofy coat. I always assumed it was Texas weather, but considering Sydney grew up in Hawaii, I'm thinking it's just Ted. He needs a good grooming and clipping (I keep him trimmed on the shorter side to keep Shaun happy). Vet is next week, so I think I'll let their groomer do him then.

Good luck with your exam, Sheri!

Yes, dogs get white hair too. :) And like it's with people it here also seems to be different - Susi with her 15 years does not have white hair and the first Sheltie we had had a nearly completely white face when he was 5 years old.

Hope you have a nice Saturday, Sheri. :)

*Hugs*

Thanks, Sabine! :) I'm going to need a ll the luck I can get. ;)

And I never knew that about dogs! First we noticed that Sydney's whiskers were turning white, then we noticed the tips of her ears. Poor doggie's getting old. :(

Hope your weekend is going well, Sabine! Big *HUGS* to you and Micki! :D

aww that's stressful!! good luck with the exam! *hugs*
hehehe an ottoman - I saw the picture of her backlegs in one of your replies to a comment here... do things get tangled in that hair? hehe
my dog I had in Hawaii, when he started getting old, he got white hair around his muzzle; and Tim's parents dog Milly (the one on the right in my icon) she's very old and her face had white in it to begin with but now the brown on her face is getting white as well.

Thanks, Andrea! :D

And doesn't Sydney look like a little ottoman? Haha! we constantly have to brush out the fur on her hind legs so it doesn't tangle! :P

And I hadn't realized how common it was for dogs to get white - like humans until I read all the responses to this post.

Hope you and Tim are having a nice weekend! *HUGS* to you both and one for Leilani too! :D

Good luck on your exam. I'm sure you'll pass. :)

Tommy's other Rottie Oso is 11 and has been getting grey since about 9. Poor doggies.

Thanks Laura for the encouragement and for the luck (I'm going to need it!) :)

Wow - I hadn't realized there were so many people with dogs that experienced this. Sydney is my first dog so this is all pretty new to me. Poor dogs, though! :( Sydney's whiskers started turning white last year! Maybe she's prematurely grey! :(

Oh yeah, dogs gets white hair too!! Look at Cocoa, he used to be dark brown. Now, he's gray & white.

Cocoa used to be all brown? He's adorable white and gray though - I thought he was always that color. What a cute photo of him in your icon too! :D
