My hubby and his PSP...
Those of you who have been reading my journal for a while will know that my dear hubby is one of the sleepiest people that I know! If it weren't for the fact that he has an 8-5 job, he'd probably sleep straight through until the afternoon on a daily basis. :P Which is why I was so surprised when he woke up before me this morning and was already out of the shower when my alarm went off at 5am. :O Apparently, today was the first day the PlayStation Portable was going on sale and he wanted to go to Sam's Club BEFORE work to be the first in line to purchase one. Talk about your motivation! ;) Luckily he didn't come home empty handed and actually got one of the few that were on the shelf this morning. :) Looks like he'll be occupied this weekend while I'm studying for my exam. :P

Speaking of which, the studying has been going okay... still very boring, but okay nonetheless. Whenever I study on the bed, Sydney feels the need to walk all over my text book and lie her fuzzy butt down on the section of the book that I'm reading! And though I try to shoo her away and attempt to push her fur aside so I can see what I'm supposed to be reading, all she does is sit there, panting at me and smiling. :) What a dog! :D

On a completely different note, I guess I've never mentioned it here before but lately I've been having a problem with my left arm. :( For some reason it goes numb and starts to feel tingly for no reason at all. I thought it would just go away, but it's been this way for an entire week and it doesn't seem to be showing signs of getting any better (in fact, it might just be getting worse). :P I think I'll call tomorrow for a doctor's appointment. :P When I told Mark about it he got extremely concerned because he knows that for me to see a doctor (which I haven't done in years) it must really be worrying me. :P Of course looking up my symptoms on WebMD.com didn't seem to help my paranoia any. :P

And I'm waiting for some (hopefully) good news from Kevin soon. :) I'm really ready to start planning another theatre trip! :) Hope you all have a nice evening - I'm off to get more studying done. :P

Is it positional: i.e., does it feel OK when you look ahead, and tingle when you look down? If so, I had that starting in early October (read my blog back then). Turned out to be a form of carpel tunnel. Start seeing a chiropractor, have the ergometrics folks come and make sure your position at work on the computer is right, and get some wrist supports (I find the Futuro Wristlets to work very well for me). When I saw the doctor, I was told it was an irritated nerve in my neck, and would heal when it heals.

I mentioned it started in October. It finally started to feel better last month, but I still wear the wristlets.

Just so you can find things: The first reference to my arm is on October 8, with more info on October 12 after the ergometric folks came by. I explored nutritional supplements on October 21, and started with the Chiropractor on October 26. The nerve was still bothering me on November 30. I don't see much discussion of it thereafter; as I recall, it started to get better in January.

Ever since reading your back posts I've been trying to figure out under what situations my arm starts getting numb... I know it's when it's at a relaxed position and not necessarily when I look down. However, your graphic of the ergonomics of your work place computer station made me realize that my home computer station needs major revision and might be the cause of my arm problem. :P

I haven't made a doctor's appointment yet, but I will next week. Thanks for all your great information - it really helped. :)

Hi Sharon, I hope your doctor visit turns out just fine. I did have carpel tunnel on my wrists during my maternity leave and I didn't use a computer at all (no time!). So I was confused, but turned out that when I was holding my son, subconsciously I was afraid of dropping him, so my wrists turning inward. I went to physical therapy for a month and they got healed. I just had to remember how to hold my son each time (giggle). Keep us posted, okay?

Thanks for your post! I've had problems before with my wrist a few years ago. I had tendonitis in my left wrist because my computer keyboard at work was at a really odd angle. :P Hopefully this will be something that I will be able to quickly cure. :P

*Laugh* I can just see that, and hear Sydney's thoughts....."But MOOOOOOM......you're supposed to pay attention to ME, not some silly book!" ;)

Ahaha! That's EXACTLY what she was probably thinking! :D

Wow! I just commented to a reply and asked if he got his new handheld game unit... Joe got his too! Hahaha! Those boys would totally get along! Joe is like that with sleep as well. Why are you two in Hawaii!! If you moved here, I'd have someone to go to theater shows with! Joe could play video games with Mark. ( I was going to say that Joe amd Mark could play video games and sleep together, but ... no... not the sleep part.. ;0)

I hope all goes well with your arm.

Haha! :D Mark & Joe should really get together - they scare me how much the two of them are alike. :D

Yeah, totally! :D

Hehehe that's funny about Mark getting up early just to get a PS Portable. :)

I really hope your arm feels better soon. I'm glad that you are going to go to the doctor about it.
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on March 26th, 2005 06:55 am (UTC)
That's the only time he'd wake up on his own before me! :)

I haven't made an appointment yet, but after reading all the comments that people have left, I'm going to make one soon. My arm has actually gone from annoying to slightly painful. :P
Sabine: Mickisabine10 on March 26th, 2005 12:15 am (UTC)
I love Sydney. I really can see her. :D

I'm sorry to hear about your arm. :( Please take care and let us know what it is. Hope it will be better soon!

Big *hugs* to you and please give Sydney also a hug for me :)
Sheri: Sydney - happyshutterbug93 on March 26th, 2005 06:58 am (UTC)
Sydney's so funny! :) Before owning a dog, I never knew they had such strong personalities! :D Gotta love them. :)

Hopefully I'll be able to schedule a doctor's appointment sometime next week and I can find out what it is. :P

*HUGS* to you too, Sabine! And please give one to Micki too! :D

Good luck with your arm! Hopefully it's nothing too serious. That's exactly what I did, my arm had been hurting for about a week, so I finally decided to make an appointment. I hardly ever go to the doctor either but you just wanna make sure it's nothing to be really concerned about. hehe...I was looking up my symptoms online too :)
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on March 26th, 2005 07:01 am (UTC)
Thanks, Gill! And sometimes looking up symptoms online can lead to scary diagnoses - all made up, of course, in my own brain. ;)

Sorry to hear about your arm! Sounds like you may have a pinched nerve. very common in people who are on computers. Where does the tingling start? and from where to where does it go numb? What happens, is the nerve gets irritated, or gets pinched in inbetween in a joint. It can be painful, but sometimes just uncomfortable. Taking an anti inflm. will help such as Motrin, Advil, ect Tylenol really won't help much. The treatment is usually an anti-inflam. and rest, or sometimes P.T. Hope you feel better soon, and keep me updated. P.S. try looking up the symptoms or pinched nerve or carpal tunnel sydrome.
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on March 26th, 2005 07:04 am (UTC)
The tingling in my arm seems to start at my wrist and goes throughout my hand. :P And my entire left arm goes numb on me when I hold it in a relaxed position. :P I will definitely look up "pinched nerve" online - and now, after reding the comments I realize it must be the set up of my home computer that caused it. Too much LJ-ing! ;) I knew it'd get me in trouble one day! ;)

Thanks for your comments, Barb! They really helped a lot! :D
WE ALL NEED A SENSE OF HUMORbeam861 on April 1st, 2005 05:51 pm (UTC)
Good, glad I could help. It does sound like a pinch in your wrist. Try a different set-up for your computer. It sounds like you are flexing your wrist just enough to irritate a nerve! Good Luck

I had a problem w/my arm like that before. It went away, which is good. You just need to get in to see the doctor about it. I hope you're ok. *hugs* I wouldn't advise going to a chiropractor. Not that it doesn't help a "few" people...I've never been to one. I refuse to go to one. I know quite a few people who have been really messed after going. You can become really dependent on it too. I'm not trying to snub people it works for, but still. It's a scary idea to me. See your doctor. :D I hope you feel better soon. *hugs*

Thanks for your comment, Carrie! I've never gone to a chiropractor before, and hopefully it won't be so serious that I'll need to see one. Thanks for your sweet wishes for my arm though! :D *HUGS*

LOL - it's funny what motivates guys eh? :)

Aww - Sydney is so cute. I love to read the newspaper on the living room carpet so I can lay it all out - which turns into an impossible task when Sunny is home. Look at ME Mom - not that silly paper thing! :)
Sheri: Sydney - happyshutterbug93 on March 27th, 2005 10:41 am (UTC)
It is! I could never get him up that early for anything else. ;P

And too funny about Sunny! Sydney is the same way with newspapers. :) Dogs, gotta love them! :D
