Frozen bread?
Why do these things always happen to me? :P As the auditor and I were leaving one of the branch parking lots this afternoon after completing our last branch audit, we ran into a reporter who wanted to interview us on camera. The auditor declined the interview saying that he didn't even live in the state, but then said, "But you know who would LOVE to do it?... Sheri!" GREAT... I really hate things like this, but after a lot of hemming and hawing they finally persuaded me to do it. :P

The question: "What do you think about 50% of the bread that's brought into the state being frozen? Do you think there should be a label on the bread saying that it was previously frozen?"

Oh.My.Gosh. When she asked me the question and the camera turned on I realized, to my horror, that I had NOTHING intelligent to say about the matter and, in fact, the only thing that came to my mind was, "I really don't care!" - Which, of course, I didn't say. :P

I said the first thing that came to my mind, which was an utterly stupid, "I never knew that our bread was frozen!" (complete with a vapid look) ;) The reporter then went on to ask if I thought they should have to disclose that it had been previously frozen. To which I replied, "Well, I think if it's frozen, they should let us know..." - which ended up being the quote they used on the KITV news tonight. Great. Now my stupid comment will be seen by tons of people all over the state. :P Why couldn't they have asked me about something that I cared about? Like politics, maybe? Excuse me while I go off to hide my head in shame. ;P Damn those KITV people! ;)

On a completely different note, here are the answers to the post I did the other night for my favorite TV characters & my favorite songs from shows I love:

Favorite TV Characters
  1. M*A*S*H - BJ Hunnicutt, I wanted to marry a man just like him when I was 11. ;)
  2. Line of Fire - Jennifer Sampson - not only because of Julie Ann, but because Sampson was the character who was the most fully developed on the show. She had a tough side, but had a soft side to her as well - AND because of... well, Julie. :)
  3. West Wing - Donna - It was a toss up between Josh and Donna, but Donna won out for me because of the humor she brings to the show.
  4. Will & Grace - Will Truman - I'm boring, I like Will because he's *sigh-worthy* :)
  5. Friends - Chandler - simply the funniest character on the show (and I was a long time Matthew Perry fan before Friends even aired.) :)
  6. Wings - Helen, I like that she's insecure and neurotic and very hilarious.
  7. Dharma & Greg - Dharma - I love her free spirit.
  8. Mad About You - Jaime - she's so neurotic at times that she reminds me of me. :)
  9. Thirtysomething - Melissa - she was a photographer, sarcastic, hilarious, free spirit, what's not to love?
  10. Caroline In The City - Annie - it was a toss up between Annie and Richard. I love Malcolm Gets, but the Annie character was a dancer in Cats, and it was the first time a prime time show had a character who was a broadway performer. Plus she was the funniest one on the show. :)
Favorite Songs from Shows I Love
  1. "A New Brain" - "I'd Rather Be Sailing"
  2. "Baby" - "I Chose Right" - simply a beautiful song...
  3. "Side Show" - "Who Will Love Me As I Am?"
  4. "1776" - "Molasses to Rum" - probably the most powerful song in the show!
  5. "A Chorus Line" - "Nothing"
  6. "Assassins" - "Unworthy of Your Love"
  7. "City of Angels" - "You Can Always Count On Me"
  8. "Parade" - "This Is Not Over Yet"
  9. "Follies" - "I'm Still Here" - I've always loved it but hearing Donna McKechnie sing it in LA a few years ago was just incredible! :)
  10. "Anyone Can Whistle" - "There Won't Be Trumpets"
A big thank you to everyone who posted their guesses! :)

And before I go, I just wanted to wish a very happy birthday to mmebahorel, whose birthday is on the 8th - Hope you have a great day! :)

Are you gonna be in the main channel? Like ABC, CBS, and NBC? And when is that interview? so I can watch you too... :P
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on April 8th, 2005 08:19 am (UTC)
No, fortunately it was only the local news station. Thank goodness my silly comment won't be spread nationally! ;)

WOW SHERI that was YOU??????? I didn't think anything when I heard it, I wasn't watch the tv, I just heard it. Noooo, seriously I didn't think what you said was stupid.
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on April 8th, 2005 08:29 am (UTC)
Oh my gosh, you heard it??! Ahhh! :( It's a good thing you didn't see it too! *goes back to hiding my head in shame*
Kananigirlkananigirl on April 8th, 2005 08:42 am (UTC)
Nooooooooo Sheri! I really didn't think it was lame at all. No worries, really.

I glanced at the TV when I heard it, but I didn't stare so I didn't know that was you. It's kewl you were on tv though!

Being on TV is fun and very cool. You should hold your head up high and be proud. :D

Haha! Thanks, Carrie - too bad I couldn't think of anything decent to say. :P Good thing no one at work saw the news. :)

Yay Helen Chapel!!! LOVED her performance in Episode 5.2

The auditor declined the interview saying that he didn't even live in the state, but then said, "But you know who would LOVE to do it?... Sheri!"

I'm sorry, but that's funny. :-P *giggles*
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on April 9th, 2005 05:21 pm (UTC)
Helen's a great character - my favorite episode was the one she drove her jeep into Joe's office after their break up.

I was SO upset at the auditor for volunteering me for the interview! ;)
Tonydudepower1982 on April 10th, 2005 04:07 am (UTC)
I just found it amusing the way he so flippantly said it (when volunteering you).

My favorite Helen episodes are 5.2 (her old high school nemesis returns as a health inspector) and the one in Season 7 where Joe is hell-bent on hiring that weird designer to build their dream house.

"Follies" - "I'm Still Here" - I've always loved it but hearing Donna McKechnie sing it in LA a few years ago was just incredible! :)

have you heard the concert version of "Follies" with Carol Burnett singing this song? it's fantastic and also my favorite song of the show....well, actually it's second behind "Waiting for the Giiiiirrrrrllllls Upstairs." ;)
Sheri: Julie Jacksonshutterbug93 on April 9th, 2005 05:25 pm (UTC)
I actually have the dvd of that concert - and I liked Carol Burnett's version too. :) It wasn't until I saw Donna McKechnie sing it at Reprise! did I realize what a great show-stopping song it was, though. :) I also love "Losing My Mind" - if it's sung correctly... I saw Vicki Carr sing it at Reprise! and unfortunately, she didn't seem to have a real grasp of the character of Sally (though her voice was lovely...) I heard Julie Jackson sing it in "Side by Side by Sondheim" last year and SHE understood the song and sang it the way it should be sung!

It was so funny - because the second the camera turned on and the reporter started speaking, I realized what a bad idea it really was! Thank goodness they didn't catch my vapid look on camera! :)

How bad that I could not see you! Otherwise, I had could record it and showed my friends "look, that is Sheri." ;)

Seriously now, looking at the question they most likely had got the same answer from me (if I at all had known to say something). I don't know if or how much frozen bread they sell here but if I would know it I would try to avoid to buy such bread.

I hope you had a nice day, Sheri. :) Big *hugs* to you
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on April 9th, 2005 05:28 pm (UTC)
Ah, it's a GOOD thing you didn't see me - if you showed your friends the tape they'd ask you, "Sabine, what kind of friends do you have? She doesn't make ANY sense!" ;)

Big *HUS*, Sabine! :) Hope you're having a nice weekend. :)

awwww I didn't get to see it!! I wonder if it's on the KITV site (if there is one) ;)
I would hate to be put on the spot like that, I would just stand there and get flustered *LOL*
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on April 9th, 2005 05:29 pm (UTC)
Haha! I couldn't believe that the auditor put me on the spot like that! :P And what's more, I couldn't believe the stupid things that came out of my mouth when the camera turned on. ;)
Mme Bahorel: confusedmmebahorel on April 9th, 2005 04:36 am (UTC)
I tend to buy two loaves of bread at once and stick one on the freezer, so a good half the bread I eat is previously frozen. And I CAN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE. I mean, really, what does it matter? It's bread. Sliced bread. It tastes the same thawed as "fresh" since we never get it straight from the oven. I feel as if I'm looking for logic in fandom again.
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on April 9th, 2005 05:33 pm (UTC)
I agree - my first reaction was to say - "I really could care less!" As we were leaving, though my real thought was that I'm thankful that Hawaii has so little bad news that a frozen bread story would actually make the evening news. ;)
Blanche: zoe bowieblanche on April 9th, 2005 11:08 am (UTC)
Heh. I would have said "I really don't care!" before the censor in my brain had time to stop it---unless I was frozen stiff by the camera. I have this unfortunate tendency to blurt out my real opinion on issues. If a girlfriend asks if she looks fat or something like that, I will always engage the censor. However, it doesn't seem to work with other things. For instance, I said, "I hate it so much!" when someone asked me about working in such-and-such dept at the hospital---not a great idea.
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on April 9th, 2005 05:35 pm (UTC)
I was SO close to saying that I didn't care, but I was with the auditor and he made me do the interview, so the silly things I said ended up coming out of my mouth. :P As I replied to another comment above, I guess it's a good thing that Hawaii doesn't have a lot of crime so a story about frozen bread could actually make the evening news... :P

I'm sure you didn't sound as silly as you think you sounded! Don't worry. :) That reminds me of the time Gill and I first went to NYC on our own, with our friend Stacy. We were waiting in line to get into the Plymouth to see Jekyll and Hyde and some people from Broadway Beat (I think it was Broadway Beat) came along with a camera. They were asking us about the show and our favourite songs, etc. I was too shy to sing my favourite song, but Stacy did, and then because she was nervous, she sang it completely wrong. We felt so stupid at the time. :)
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on April 10th, 2005 08:58 am (UTC)
Awww! I think that the Broadway Beat segment sounded cute! :) I'm just so thankful that the news segment was a local one and that none of my co-workers were home early enough to see it. :) I really would've gotten teased about it when I went in to work the next day... ;)

I buy frozen dough sometimes. LOL
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on April 10th, 2005 08:59 am (UTC)
Haha! Of all the topics that they could've asked me, it had to be one that I cared the least about - just my luck. ;)
