"Once in a while it's nice to see a movie where everything doesn't get blown up..."
That was my hubby's reaction to seeing "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" with me this afternoon. :) I have to admit, for a guy who is REALLY into action films, and sci-fi, he was a VERY good sport about seeing the movie with me (and was probably the only man in the entire theatre.) It was an enjoyable movie, very sweet and touching (of course I'm a sap and started tearing toward the end.)

I had no idea that Bradley Whitford was in it - had I known, I would've been there to see it LONG before now! ;) I told Mark that you know you're getting old when the guy in the movie that takes your breath away plays the main character's DAD. :P In any case, I adore him! I think now I'll have to put on some of my "West Wing" dvds and have a Josh Lyman marathon. ;)

Loved Amber in the movie... I love how she always plays the tough, sarcastic character all the time, but always ends up having a really soft heart. Sort of reminds me of Amber in RL... Haven't really kept up much with Amber since she left GH (though I did watch Joan of Arcadia from time to time), but I'm glad to see that she seems to be doing really well. :)

After the movie we went to eat ice cream (no Coldstone since we couldn't find one in Kapolei) and I really think the Baskin-Robbins we went to really needs a health inspection...:P When the girl gave me my ice cream, it had a LONG blonde hair dangling from the cone! SO unappetizing. :P Blech! And what's with them having to weigh the scoop of ice cream on a scale before putting it in the cone these days?

I'd better run and give the fuzzy dog some attention. :) I can already tell that this will be a much better week. :) Yay for happy Kevin emails - they must be a good omen. ;) Hope you all have a good one. :)

Ooo! You got to see that chick flick. ;-) We wanted to check that out.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! o_O That is nasty Sheri! EWWWWWWW I hope you got another scoop of ice cream.

Actually, it was a pretty good movie - the teenage storylines aside. You should see it. :)

It was pretty nasty! :( Don't go to the Baskin-Robbins in Kapolei! :P

Haha, nice comment...I like it...I have been in that spot where I was the only man in the theatre...lol But no Cold Stone, how can that be...:(
Sheri: Familyshutterbug93 on June 29th, 2005 04:47 am (UTC)
Haha! Mark seemed to be quite proud that he was the only man in the theatre. :) He's come a long way - when I first met him he wouldn't be caught dead in a show like that. :)

No Coldstone near a movie theater is almost criminal. ;)
Carecareleswhisper on June 27th, 2005 08:13 am (UTC)
I want to see that movie. :)

We had Baskin-Robbins tonight as well. I would have asked for another ice cream if I saw that on mine. How nasty.

It's a cute movie, and after all was said and done, even Mark really enjoyed it. :)

It was nasty - last time I ever go to that Baskin-Robbins. :(

I hope you asked for another cone after finding the hair!! That's so disgusting - I would call the manager to complain too. I haven't been to Basket Robbins in a long time but I haven't had my ice cream weighted! That's so tacky!! Don't go there anymore - they deserve to lose your business!
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on June 29th, 2005 04:49 am (UTC)
I was SO surprised when they weighed my scoop of ice cream! :P It did seem pretty tacky and because they weren't putting the ice cream in the cone as they were scooping, I saw them crack a lot of sugar cones. :P It was just wrong...

I told Mark that you know you're getting old when the guy in the movie that takes your breath away plays the main character's DAD.

LOL!!!!!!!! Ain't that the truth!

It sounds like you guys had a really nice time. One of these days we're going to go to the movies again. Man it's been a long time.

Oh ewwwwwwwwww about the long blonde hair on the cone. Ewww! I love it here in Oregon for the two counties that I primarily ever eat out in, I have found the county health inspection site. With a searchable database! There have been a few times that I've decided not to try a restaurant after reading their report.
Sheri: Familyshutterbug93 on June 29th, 2005 04:52 am (UTC)
It's funny because Mark & I never go to the movies (usually) and this year we've seen three movies so far (this, "Hitch", and "Episode III") and it's more movies than we've seen in the last three year combined! ;)

Checking out an eatery's health inspection site is a great idea! This Baskin-Robbins was truly nasty! :P

I don't like Quiznos for the same reason that they weigh the food before giving it to you as well. We finally tried Coldstone when we were up at the Mayo Clinic and wow, I guess I'd built it up too much in my head, but it just wasn't as good as I thought it'd be. :( Maybe that was just an "off" one because it seems like everyone else raves about them!
Sheri: Familyshutterbug93 on June 29th, 2005 04:54 am (UTC)
I didn't know that Quiznos weighed their food! :( I already held a grudge against them for those awful commercials they used to run a couple of years ago. ;)

Sorry that you didn't enjoy Coldstone! :( Maybe it was the combination that you got? Which one did you try? My favorite is banana ice cream with strawberry, blueberry, and graham cracker mix-ins. Mark loves the cake batter ice cream. :)

I just ran across this article about the book that "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" is based on. Although she goes off on the racist tangent, the article got me wondering...having no idea what the movie is about at all, I wanted to ask you:
what did you think about the movie in context that PEGGY ORENSTEIN is talking about in her article?
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on June 29th, 2005 04:57 am (UTC)
Wow... Because I've never read the book this article was pretty much a shock to me. There was nothing in the movie that would even indicate the attitude that Peggy Orenstein wrote about.
queenstacey on June 27th, 2005 06:53 pm (UTC)
I really want to see that movie.

EEWWW I hope you got a different cone... a hairless one... yuck!
They weigh your ice cream over there? That's so weird.

Give that fuzzy dog a hug for me!
Sheri: Sydney - happyshutterbug93 on June 29th, 2005 04:59 am (UTC)
It was a cute movie! You should definitely see it. :)

I was so shocked when they weighed my ice cream! And yup, the hair on the cone was just nasty! :P

I'll definitely give Sydney a big *HUG* for you! :D

Hair in my food always disgusts me too! I'm sorry you've had so many bad experiences with it. :(

We had a great weekend. :) It almost felt like we were dating again. ;) Hope you're having a nice week too! I've missed you! *HUGS*

Sorry if you've already said this, but how do you know Amber? That's very cool! :)
Sheri: Sheri & Chad 2001shutterbug93 on June 29th, 2005 05:07 am (UTC)
I don't really "know" Amber too well - my friends know her better than I do. They work on her board of directors and help to plan her website, charity events, etc. I just go every once in a while to help out - the last one I went to was about four years ago. And though she acts tough and sarcastic at times, I found that really she (and her Mom, Bonnie - who is a real sweet woman) have two of the softest hearts.

P.S. When hair isn't on my head it makes me feel nauseous...did you still eat the ice cream? :(
Sheri: Sydney - couchshutterbug93 on June 29th, 2005 05:08 am (UTC)
I ate the cream, but not the cone. :P
Smithasmittenbyu on June 28th, 2005 12:45 am (UTC)
hey..I finally got to see Hitch! oh what a fabulous - hilarious - great movie!! Which one was the one you know? I am sorry..I am bad with names and remembering them! :S
Smithasmittenbyu on June 28th, 2005 12:48 am (UTC)
ops hit post too soon!

And what's with them having to weigh the scoop of ice cream on a scale before putting it in the cone these days?

he he he... don't understand that either! The icecream place by UH, the really popular one, the name I forget, the owner there is quite fussy weighing the icecream before they serve!!

I remember they had a job wanted sign up, all the employees whispered to us, "you don't want to work here!" That was a first!!

Bradley is in "Sisterhood"! Now I'll have to go see it. Don't worry, Sheri...I'm 19 and he takes my breath away. Talk about "West Wing" obsession...*sigh*. Anyway, glad you had a good time! :)

Yes he is! Go see it, Rachel! :D He's dreamy! *SIGH*
