"I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.
But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."
I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal, if you feel like it."
One of my favorite customers came in today to see me. She's 87 years old and has always been such a sweet and feisty woman. Through the years that I've known her, she's become sort of a surrogate grandmother to me, coming in just to talk with me about her children and about life in general. One year she gave me some ornaments her late husband had made for her so Mark & I could decorate our house and every year she brings me a Christmas card with money in it... (which I always fight with her to take back).
She hasn't been looking so well lately and she told me that she gets dizzy when she stands for a long time. :( She went to the doctor and they told her that they could barely hear her heart beating. :( I'm worried about her because she lives alone and her son lives all the way in New York and the family that she has who is here is not very helpful to her. :( I hope that she'll be okay. It's people like her that I'm going to miss the most if and when they do decide to move me. :( I've become very attached to all my customers. :(
On a theatre note - I just found out some wonderful news! Well,...for me anyway ;). Kayla found an article in Broadway.Com that says that Sutton will not leave "Millie" until Feb 15th. :) That means that I'll get to see her one last time as "Millie" when I go to NY in January to see Kevin! :) That totally made my day! :)
And wonders never cease... My slug of a hubby gave me permission to wake him up at 4am tomorrow morning so we could head down to CompUSA for a special sale for the employees of my bank (which is only from 5am - 8am). Everything in the store will be on sale from 5% - 70% off. :) I think this will probably be the only time I'll have permission to wake him before the sun comes up. :P The sale should be great, though! I hope we're able to find some good deals. :)
