Doug & Sheri

My Christmas party and mystery box. ;)

Sorry I haven't been updating in a while, for some odd reason I've been falling asleep at the most unheard of hours! I've been SO tired lately! It's been so unproductive too, seeing as how there's only functionally 4 days until Christmas and I have TONS of things to get done before that and all I seem to do every night is konk out at 9pm. :P

We had our work "investment department" Christmas party last night at Sansei Restaurant (a pretty good trendy sushi place). All the investment reps and associates from all the branches in the state (as well as all the back office staff) were there.

Gee, word travels pretty fast about me moving (people in our department LOVE to gossip, I tell ya!) :P And I guess it came as SUCH a shock to everyone since I'm one of the only two associates who have been in the system since the beginning of the investment program at our bank, eight years ago. AND all the time that I've been there I've been with my boss - it was shocking for everyone to hear that we wouldn't be working together.

The funny thing is that last night there were several different tables at the party. It was all open seating, but seeing where people sat and who sat around them was rather interesting. :) I've always thought that I was different from all the other reps and salespeople. They're a little on the boisterous side, they have strong personalities, and are really just a different breed of people. I never really fit in with them so I never used to like to attend work functions too much.

Last night I sat at the "back office" table and I had the time of my life! :) We had fun, witty, intelligent conversation and for the first time I didn't feel like I was looking at my watch waiting for an opportunity to leave all night. I definitely think that the move is a good one for me since I've found a group of people who I finally fit in with. :) Not to say that I don't ever talk with the any of the other reps or associates. But looking around the room last night, I don't think I fit in with any of the other tables. I think that the back office job may work out to be a pretty good move for me. :)

In NON-work related news - I'm almost done with my Christmas shopping! I have a few small things left to buy for Mark and then I'll be finished. :) Mark & I received a mystery Harry & David package the other day that we were trying to figure out. The note on the box said, "Have a Merry Christmas! Love, Julie". Now Mark & I know tons of Julie's, not the least of which is Mark's sister, my former college roommate (and maid of honor at my wedding), several mainland friends, and the two that I run web sites for. We're almost convinced that it's from my former roomie, but we can't be sure. Is there a way to find out what zip code (or area code) an order like that came from? I'd like to thank one of our friends for it, but I just don't know which one. :P

And Sydney has her final follow up vet appointment this morning. The vet hasn't seen her in about three weeks or so. Won't she be surprised to see Sydney run around the office and create the havoc she used to before she got sick? :) I've been telling Mark that having Sydney get well was the BEST Christmas present we could've ever received! :)

Hope you all have a nice weekend. :)
