Doug & Sheri

Scrapbooking :), my work family, and going in to the office on a Saturday. :)

Yesterday, I spent most of my work day going around the office collecting goodbye messages and taking photos of everyone to put in a scrapbook for our three office-mates who are leaving. I was surprised that even my BIG boss took some time out of his busy schedule to pose for a photo and contribute a message. I haven't scrapbooked in a LONG time and it'll be great to be doing something creative again. :)

Here's a photo of my wonderful office family (minus my BIG boss) Collapse )

Speaking of work, I have to go in this morning to complete some last minute things before I start my week vacation. I've never gone in on a Saturday (though the bank is always open in the morning). It'll be really nice to be able to clean off my desk and get things done without the hassle of having to answer the phones (which are constantly ringing on the weekday). :P

Tonight Mark & I have tickets to see "Jesus Christ Superstar" at Diamond Head Theatre. I'd heard a lot of great things about this local production and I was curious to see how they would stage it (even though I'm not a HUGE fan of the show itself). It'll also be nice to support local theatre since I always complain about us having no theatre here. Mark & I were pretty impressed by their production of "Follies" last year so we're pretty excited to see this.

And finally, my "Assassins" CD came in the mail yesterday!!! Woo hoo! :D It's always been one of my favorite shows, but with a stellar cast like this (and the unforgettable LA Reprise! cast!) the show is that much more captivating. I LOVE the CD! :)

I'm off to make some breakfast and get ready for work. Hope you all have a nice Saturday! :)

We just got home...

...from seeing the local production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and although there were some stand out performances, the show was something I don't think I'd see again and it reminded me why it wasn't one of my favorites. I do like the song "I Don't Know How To Love Him" - and the girl who played Mary Magdalene had a nice voice, but her belt was all over the place at times and was kind of distracting. The guy who played Jesus (Matthew Pennaz) was wonderful - when he sang the first few notes I had to gasp at his voice - it was that good. Unfortunately, the particular role required an extremely wide vocal range - and though he was a little weak on the higher notes, it almost went unnoticed because of his great acting. He was one of the high points of the entire show (not to mention that he wasn't too hard on the eyes either) ;)

One of the biggest surprises of the evening had to be seeing our local newscaster, Jodi Leong in the cast. I had no idea she did musicals! Some of the members of the ensemble were excellent dancers, some had great voices... All in all we thought it was a pretty good production, but the show itself is still not something I'd choose to see again. :P

We looked at their schedule for next season and the only thing I'm probably interested in seeing is "Anything Goes" since I missed it at Reprise! a few years ago. They're also doing "Seussical", "Funny Thing Happened...", "Beauty & The Beast", and "The Fantastiks" - I wish they'd do "1776", or "Parade" or even "Chorus Line" (it's been years since I've seen it).

When we came home the poor fuzzy dog was yelping and whining behind the door. :( It's been a while since we went anywhere this late at night (yes, we've become the stereo-typical old married couple) ;) and I think she was upset that we came home so late. :P She did her usual sniffing around of our legs which is probably how she tries to sniff out the person who sat in the theatre seat before us. :P

Tomorrow is my day of relaxation. :) I'm working on the scrapbooks for my co-workers, watching my "MASH" dvds, and cleaning up around here. :)

I'm off to get some sleep. Hope you all had a nice evening. :)
