Bets in Guys & Dolls

Trying to gather back the pieces of my life...

Fist of all, I wanted to thank all of you SOOOO much for all the kind and supportive comments to my post below. In the light of a new morning, I do realize that the most important things were not taken or harmed by the robbers - and that was Mark & Sydney... and for that, I will be forever grateful!!

I'm ALSO SOOO thankful for the wonderful support and kindness of everyone here - you wouldn't believe how touched I was to find so many comments to my post when I woke up this morning. Mark & I thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts!!

We spent last night talking, watching TV, and trying to get our minds off what had happened. One of the things that I realized last night was that more than all of our stuff and memories, the robbers took away a sense of innocence and security that I so naively had before all of this. :( Yes, I knew that we didn't live in the best neighborhood, and yes, I know that we owned a lot of electronics, but for 10 years we were lulled into a false sense of security... Last night I realized that was gone... and for the first time in 10 years, I didn't feel safe in my own house - and THAT is something I will never forgive the robbers for. :(

We went through the house again and each time noticed more and more things that were taken... our laptops, my portable dvd player, my video camera that Mark got me for Christmas last year, his PDA, PSP, his external hard drive, all my mini-disc stuff, my camera (with memory stick and all pictures still on it), Mark's iPod shuffle, and both our computer bags... LOTS and lots of other stuff, which would just depress me to go into. The funny thing is that they didn't take things like battery chargers for other electronics - in fact, they dumped those things OUT of my computer bag... if nothing else, they seemed to be considerate robbers... ;P

Mark & I are still in discussions about whether we are going to be going on our trip this week... I think because of his nervousness, Mark's leaning toward a NO, but we'll have to see. After all that's happened we don't want to leave our house for an extended period of time...

Finally, this whole experience has taught me the kindness of people - and if nothing else, that's something extremely wonderful that has come out of this whole ordeal... My BIG boss told me not to come in this week and to take care of my personal matters (fixing the lock on our door, moving our bank accounts, etc...) - which was completely unexpected...

Also, one of the first things I did when I found out was email all my web people to let them know that the files for their sites are all gone since I felt so guilty about it. Bets sent back the sweetest email AND forwarded me all the emails that she had on her computer that were shared between us... I was floored - isn't that just the sweetest thing??? I love her!! It meant SOOOO much to me that I was able to get even a portion of my life back!! And Julie sent me the SWEETEST and kindest email telling me not to worry about the site and asking how Sydney was and telling me that if I needed anything, she was there - I just LOVE them!!

And of course, all of you!! Big *HUGS* to all of you for all your support, kindness, and generosity!! Love you all!!
