Ray 01

Lots of things all crammed into one catch-up post...

Update on my Grandmother...

First of all, an update on my 94 year old Grandmother... As sad as it may seem, the once vibrant and spunky woman was recently admitted to a care home. :( She doesn't want to undergo surgery for her gall stones and while it seems like a relatively small problem, she'll get attacks of pain from them that are so bad that she can't move. :( My relatives are shutting down the functions (telephone, electricity, etc.) at her home (where she lived alone up until now) and it's VERY sad, but it sounds like my Grandmother has just given up... :( Good thoughts, prayers, anything you might be able to spare for her would be greatly appreciated...

Taxes... Bleh.

Mark & I went to get our taxes done on Saturday and found that we owe about twice as much as we did last year... Our income hasn't changed that much, but we found that there could've been a mistake in the reporting on the W2 from Mark's company... The W2 seemed to have reported his GROSS income instead of his net (which means that basically his 401(k) contributions are being taxed twice - once now and when he takes it out at retirement.) He's going to speak with them about it tomorrow, but even then, it doesn't look promising that we'll be looking at a refund... Bleh. :P

Due South

On a VERY different note, I wanted to thank you all for your wonderful TV suggestions to me in my last post. Since I finished "Six Feet Under", I really needed another series that I could watch. lindasings suggested "Slings & Arrows" - which is a Canadian series about a theatre troope and stars Paul Gross as a washed up actor. :) I'd remembered Paul very vaguely from his days on "Due South" - which got me interested in buying the season 3 & 4 DVD set of the show - and I've been watching it ever since. :)

"Due South" wasn't the best show on TV - certainly not as substantial in content as "Six Feet Under" nor was it as gritty - but in a way, that was really part of its charm. Speaking of which, I was surprised to find that it was MUCH more heartfelt than I remember it being when the first season aired on CBS years ago. It also feels a little dated - especially when Fraser and Ray pull out their huge cell phones :), but it's a sweet show that I've missed seeing. Besides, getting the chance to gaze at Paul Gross and Callum Keith Rennie in their younger days is certainly a treat. :) Whatever the case, it's been an enjoyable journey for me to re-live the show and to see seasons 3 & 4 (which I don't believe were ever shown in the US.)

And I don't know what it is about this man, but something about him is just SOOO attractive. He's not classically good looking - by any stretch of the imagination, but something about him as Ray in the show is just really... hot. :)

Does anyone else remember this show??

Web Stuff

Finally, I'm working on some other ideas for that new site that I've been working on... one of which will force me to get out my books and re-learn Flash... Please wish me luck - Flash and I don't get along quite as well as we should. :P

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. I'm off to work on the sites and maybe squeeze in another episode of "Due South" before dinner. :)
