Baby Shower & More MASK :)

I'd been back at work only a few hours before I got a yelling from BIG boss... I was exhausted and still kind of giddy from my trip, so it didn't even really bother me that much. Which made me realize that these really are the reasons I thrive on these trips - they make me more able to handle my day job. Had it been BEFORE I left, I may have gotten worked up about it (or headed to the snack table and gained back the ten pounds I recently lost...)

Baby Shower

About the trip - On Sunday afternoon I went to Laura's baby shower - which was just SO wonderful! Not only was it great to see her, but I was SO happy that I could be there to share in her special moment! :) She looked beautiful and simply glowed! She and Wade will make the best parents - because, as I've told her - they have so much love to share. :)

The shower itself was so much fun! Carrie did such a great job planning everything! :) I got to see and meet so many people who were just incredibly nice. AND Marla and I found out we shared a common compulsion to straighten confetti and we both had a deep admiration for cake! :D

I was sad to leave because I wished I could spend more time with both Carrie and Laura. I see them so infrequently. :(

Mask @ Pasadena Playhouse

After the shower, I headed to Pasadena Playhouse to see the evening performance of "Mask". :) My seat that night was much better than the day before and seeing the expressions up close and seeing Michelle and all the nuances of her performance a little better was amazing... I'd always thought she was incredibly talented, but seeing her in the role of Rusty is -- a completely amazing experience!

I laughed, I cried - just as I did on Saturday... The show, for some reason, just affects me so much and Michelle's incredible performance is what ALWAYS gets to me. She was born to play this role, possibly because the woman she's portraying (Rusty) had as much strength and as much heart as Michelle does and it completely shines through on stage. There are no other words that can describe her incredible performance...

After the show

Got to stay a bit after the show and say HI to a few people. Heather and Katy were SO sweet as always. Got the whole adorable Saturday night proposal story from Katy - got to talk with her about "Spitfire Grill" and me seeing "Bark" and not knowing immediately that it was her because I'm a dork and didn't equate Kathryn Blake with Katy Blake... duh!

Spoke with Heather a bunch - it's always so nice to see her! We spoke about Mark not being with me and how I was a "lady on the town" Yeah... I looked at Katy and we both said - at the same time, "Right..." :) So much more was said, but my mind's a little fuzzy on exactly what it was. They're SO sweet, though and such a pleasure to see.

I got the chance to speak with Michelle and let her know how incredible I thought her performance was. She is SUCH a dear!! The first time I met Michelle was after "Johnny Guitar" at La Mirada a few years ago and she's always been very nice to me. I'd seen her several times since at "Can-Can", etc. but I never really got the chance to talk with her in depth. After speaking with her this time, I've come to realize that she's truly among the nicest, sweetest people I've ever met.

She mentioned that she was ill and was nursing a cold - which, I couldn't even believe based on her incredible performance. We talked about a bunch of things - mutual friends, why she's so passionate about the show and the role... She was sweet enough to introduce me to Allen's Mom - who was very sweet as well. :) I just have to say, if I wasn't an admirer of Michelle's talents before (which I was...) after this weekend, she's clearly become one of my favorite people.

"Mask" runs until the 20th of April in Pasadena... If you live anywhere near LA, I highly recommend it - if nothing else, to see an absolutely INCREDIBLE performance by Michelle Duffy. :)

I'm off to pass out - the theatre weekend was wonderful, but I'm certainly paying for it in the sleep department! :P

Oh, and as a side note: 7 more days until hubby is home from Japan!

HUGS to all!
