UGH! Why do these things always happen to me?? I was supposed to arrive in Orange County at 6:30pm... I finally arrived in my hotel at 11:00pm! :(
I'm going to refrain from mentioning the name of the airlines that I flew, but I will say that it's THE LAST time I'm ever booking a flight with them. :P The flight to San Francisco was fine (yes, for some reason they had me fly THROUGH San Francisco to get to Orange County... don't ask...) :P The problem came when I found out that my flight from San Francisco to Orange County was oversold by 21 people! :( I can understand one or two or even 5 people, but 21?? :[ Thankfully I had a confirmed seat on the flight, but when they asked for volunteers to take another flight to Burbank (which they said they would provide ground transportation to John Wayne airport) and I saw all the poor people who needed to leave on the Orange County flight, I offered up my seat to them...
Bad choice! Not only were the ticketing agents extremely rude to me the entire time (I was only trying to help THEM get out of a bad situation!) :P But the new flight flew into Burbank (just 5 miles away from where I'm staying), but I still needed to take the shuttle ALL THE WAY down to John Wayne because my luggage was sent there and my rental car (which I'd pre-paid) was waiting for me in Orange County, then I had to drive ALL THE WAY back up to Burbank to check in to my hotel for the night. :( But I did it, because I wanted to help out - I know what it feels like to have to be somewhere and to be stranded at the airport and if I could help it, I didn't want anyone else to have to go through that. :P
But what an ordeal it was! I'd gotten up at 4:30am and had been traveling since 6am, by the time 10:30pm rolled around and I was STILL not at the hotel, I was a little discouraged. :( And the shuttle ride was ridiculous! It was over an hour long, but seemed so much longer because it was in the smallest, tiniest little van I'd ever seen - with practically no ventilation. :( The seven of us who had volunteered to give up our seats were sitting so close to each other it felt like we were sitting on each other's laps. :P And if that wasn't enough, the entire trip over we were SO unsure of EVERYTHING... how we'd be transported to John Wayne, which airport our luggage was being sent to and whether it would even be at any of the airports at all. :(
Thankfully our bags made it safely to John Wayne (hours before we actually did) and, though cramped, the shuttle was fairly easy to catch and everyone at the Burbank ticketing desk was incredibly sweet and helpful to us (SO unlike the ones at SFO) :P And the good news is that I did make it safely to my Burbank hotel and I was able to get my rental (even though I was three hours late picking it up...) On the bright side, I told the ticketing agent at Burbank that it was such an awful flight over that the rest of the trip should only get better. :) I'm meeting up with cahwyguy and his family for "The Grand Tour" tomorrow night, which I'm really looking forward to, so it already looks as though things are looking up for this trip. :)
I'm off to finally get some serious sleep. My apologies if I haven't been able to get to everyone's entries yet, I promise to catch up with everyone tomorrow. Hope you all have a nice evening. *HUGS*
