My last entry for 2005...

For most of the world, it's already 2006 - but in our time zone challenged state, I still have about an hour and 15 minutes left before the New Year. :) Mark & I just got home from a party at the in-laws house which my Mom, Mark, Sydney, and I always attend. :) While we were there, one of Mark's friends (who had gotten a divorce earlier this year) stopped by with his new fiancee... What a surprise it was that she was an old high school classmate of mine! It was so nice to see her (and to see them so happy.) :)

It was also my sister-in-law, Julie's birthday today so she had her annual birthday celebration at my in-laws. She's been having her birthday party at the same time as my in-laws New Year's Eve party for years and it's so interesting to see her friends and how different they all are since I started going to these gatherings. Many of them are married now and a few of them have children. It's definitely starting to make me feel old to realize that the first time I went to my in-law's New Year's Eve celebration, was eight years ago! :O

The fireworks here are really bad this year! :( There's so much smoke in our neighborhood that it was hard to see driving home. And for some reason Sydney is barking and yapping at every single firework that pops. She was NEVER like this in previous years. In fact, we used to pride ourselves in the fact that we never had to give her tranquilizers... It's a little odd, though because the fireworks don't seem unusually loud or close to us this year so I wonder what it is? Could it be that she's getting a bit more jumpy as she's getting older? I can't seem to figure it out. :(

Poor dog! And she's been sticking to me like glue, always at my heel wherever I go. She usually follows me around the house (which is how she got named my fuzzy shadow) :) but tonight she's REALLY stuck to my hip. I'm hoping the fireworks die down shortly after midnight so that poor Sydney can get some rest! However, in my neighborhood, I wouldn't count on it. :P

Hope you all had a safe and happy new year! And I wish you all a 2006 filled with many blessings! Thank you all for being such incredible friends to me all year long! Big *HUGS* to all of you!! I'm off to go downstairs now to keep Mark company and get ready to watch the ball drop (albeit five hours delayed...) from Times Square. :)
