Way too MUCH food and "Spelling Bee" :)
I swear, Mark & I are going to be 500 pounds by the time this NYC trip is over!!! Sadly we both got up a little on the late side this afternoon so we didn't get the chance to eat breakfast at Pigalle - which was fine because it would've only added to the 5 billion calories we ended up consuming today. :P We definitely need to get back on our diets when we go home... :P

Mark & I ended up going to eat lunch at Say Cheese! Thanks to the recommendation of broadway_rose we went to try this great place on 9th Avenue. They had THE BEST grilled sandwiches ever!! I had a grilled cheese with bacon sandwich (which, in retrospect I should've been more adventurous and tried something more exotic). Mark had the "El Cubano" which was filled with pork, ham, swiss cheese, and pickles. We were in complete heaven!! :) We're definitely taking another trip back there before we head home. :)

We also took a walk around 5th Avenue and Rockefeller Center. :) On our way there, we stopped in the Nintendo World store and Mark went crazy! He didn't want to come out, I think he wanted to buy everything there. :) On the way back to the hotel we found this great bakery that sold THE BEST chocolate chip cookies. As full as we were, we just couldn't resist buying some to take back with us. :)

Then tonight we went to see "Spelling Bee" which we both adored! :) It was such a hilarious and cute show! The funniest parts were the audience interaction bits with the audience members who were picked to be "spellers." The entire cast was hysterical, but I really enjoyed Celia's performance the most... she was wonderful.

After the show we hung around the stage door in the hopes of seeing Celia. I RARELY ever go to the stage door - I really only go to see Kevin (or my other favorites in LA) so I was pretty apprehensive about staying after "Spelling Bee"... Sadly, Celia, Dan, and Jose never came out. :( But the performers that I did get to meet were all SO nice. :)

Finally we ended our evening with a yummy dinner at Applebee's and the best deep fried bread pudding dessert ever! :) It was served hot with vanilla ice cream, and sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon with warm caramel dipping sauce. It was the best thing I ate all day! In fact, it was so good that Mark and I have decided that Applebee's is one place we HAVE to go to when we're in LA next... just to eat the bread pudding again. :) I sure hope the eating portion of this trip calms down a bit... if it doesn't, I won't be able to fit into the clothes I brought! :P

I'm off to get some sleep. Tomorrow we're seeing the "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" matinee and then meeting bigrivermusical for dinner, and then we're all seeing "Sweeney Todd." It should be a great day. :) Hope you all have a nice evening! :)

Here we are at Say Cheese! with our scumptious sandwiches! :D

My grilled cheese and bacon sandwich. :) It was so HUGE!! And SO delicious!! :D

Mark and his scrumptious Cubano sandwich!
As you can see, by the time I took this picture - there was nothing left of his sandwich to photograph! ;)

Mark was in absolute heaven when we hit the Nintendo World store.

We bought a stuffed Dacshund Nintendog for Susan - it was SO cute!! :)

Here we are at Rockefeller Center! :)

I really liked that statue thing outside the Time/Life building. :)

Here I am with Derrick Baskin - who played Mitch Mahoney in "Bee". :)

Here I am with Deborah Craig, who played Marcy Park. :)

You guys are SO cute. I'm so glad you're having such a good time. (And you're making me want to be there so badly.) And I'm loving your updates so much! :)

(I also love the nintendo dog - but I'm a sucker for anything related to dogs! ;))

I really love NYC too!! Whenever I leave I always feel like I didn't get to do (or see) half the things I wanted to!

The Nintendogs were SO cute!!! There were Pugs and labs too. :) I had to get one for Susan! :)

You guys are so cute! I love the pictures you include with your updates.

I'm so glad you liked Spelling Bee...and that you got to meet at least some of the cast! They're all so sweet - and so talented!

Those sandwiches look good...you're making me hungry! Where on 9th is that place? It sounds like something I'd like to try! :)
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 14th, 2006 07:23 am (UTC)
I'm glad I stayed after the show too. :) I got to meet, Lisa Howard and Sarah Saltzberg too. They were all so sweet! :) I loved too how they put up all the cast's elementary school pictures in the lobby - we went around looking at everything - it was SO cute!

Say Cheese! is on 9th Avenue between 45th St and 46th. The food there is SO good and the service is so friendly! You and Gill should definitely try to go there on your next trip - Mark & I loved it! :D

I LOVE Sarah Saltzberg. She, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Celia are my favourite people in the show. I love that too! We had so much fun reading all the signs and posters as we waited for the show to start. :)

Thanks! That sounds so terrific. We will definitely have to go there. The food looked so good, I even made a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch today. :)

you are going to make it to Cafe Lalo, right?
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 15th, 2006 06:06 am (UTC)
Oh wow - sounds like a great place! I'd love to go there, but sadly we only have one more day in the city! :( Thanks for the suggestion, because we're always looking for places to eat and we can try it on our next trip here! (Which we're already planning!) ;)

dude, good food exists to both comfort and torture, particularly when traveling, "Oh, that was so good, but now my pants don't fit because of the gas/water retention/magical-and-seemingly-direct transformation from food into fat/take your pic."
Sheri: Sydney *SIGH*shutterbug93 on January 15th, 2006 06:08 am (UTC)
The good food here has been more torture than anything else... I no longer fit into the "tight" pair of jeans I brought and have to wear my larger pair home. :( Wah! :(

I really love your updates and to look at the photos, Sheri! They made me wish I could be there, too. :) The dog for Susan looks so cute that I could steal him, even if it's not a Sheltie. :)

And, I had breakfast but not only that the reading and seeing the food made me hungry again, it also remembered me that I should prepare everything for today evening now.

Wish you both a wonderful time.

Big *hugs* to you! :)
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 15th, 2006 06:10 am (UTC)
Thanks Sabine! :) We are having a wonderful time - I almost don't want to go home... :) And I love Susan's little Ninendog!! I wish there were sheltie ones though! :(

The food here is just so good that no one could effectively diet here in NYC! I'll really have to work hard at being healthy once I come home!

Big *HUGS* to you, Sabine!! :)

Looks like you're having a fantastic time! YAY FOR SAY CHEESE! It's the cutest restaurant in the world. My friend Erin told me about it and now everyone I take there or recommend it to LOVES it! Their smoothies are amazing too. =D
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 15th, 2006 06:12 am (UTC)
Yay! Thanks so much for the great recommendation, Meredyth!! We loved it! I haven't tried the homemade smoothies yet, but I think we're going back tomorrow and I promised myself I'd try it before we left. :)
irisheyes77 on January 14th, 2006 03:27 pm (UTC)
I'm enjoying these pictures so much. I haven't been to NYC since 1994!

You don't have Applebee's in Hawaii? Even out here in the country, we're a stone's throw away from like five of them, lol.

Nintendo World! Nintendog! I want to see a picture of the husky one! :D
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 15th, 2006 06:15 am (UTC)
You, Tom, and Cameron should definitely take a trip out that way! The city has become so child friendly, it's almost like going to Disneyland (well, not really... but you know what I mean.) ;)

And no Applebee's anywhere for us in the state of Hawaii! :( We've always wanted one, though - especially for their incredible desserts. :D

And the Nintendogs were so cute!! Unfortunately, I didn't see any Husky ones (or Sheltie ones either) :(
singnycsingnyc on January 14th, 2006 04:34 pm (UTC)
Glad to hear you are having fun!! You must go to Angus McIndoe while you're there! The food is fabulous!! Plus, Matthew Broderic is part owner haha (I love him). Its best to go there after a night show because that's when a lot of the performers are there. Its on 44th right next to "The Producers".

Let me know how "Sweeny Todd" is...I still haven't seen it :(
Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 15th, 2006 06:21 am (UTC)
Thanks so much for the great restaurant recommendation! :D Mark & I might try to go there after our shows tomorrow, but if not, we're definitely going to try to go there on our next trip back (which we're already planning.) ;)

Sweeney was very eerie and creepy and great. I really loved it... it was interesting that the cast was the orchestra. The performances were all so great! :)

Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on January 15th, 2006 06:02 am (UTC)
Sorry Stacey! I think something's wrong with my dot net server - so I re-uploaded them to my dot com server - they should be working now. :)

Say Cheese is a wonderful place! They mostly serve grilled sandwiches and homemade smoothies. :) I love the food there and the service is so friendly! :D

OH MY, I found the Nintendo World Store website and showed it to Brendon.... That will be a place we visit if we ever make it down that way!
