What a lovely way to spend my last theatre day in LA!

What a great day it was yesterday and the nicest part was that it was filled with so many wonderful surprises! It started off when I headed up to Hollywood to see "Little Egypt" at the Matrix Theatre. As soon as I got there I was shocked to see Linda there in the lobby! :D I knew that I was supposed to meet her for dinner and then an evening show at Stella Adler, but I was so shocked to see her at the "Little Egypt" matinee! :) She said she knew that I'd be there and changed her plans and thought she'd surprise me... It was SO nice to see her there!! And that wasn't my only surprise... When I was walking out of the theatre at intermission, I heard someone call my name... I almost didn't turn around because I thought it couldn't possibly be me - since I knew no one in Hollywood... but I turned around and it was Julie Dixon Jackson who had come to see Misty in the show!! :) It was SO nice to see her!

LITTLE EGYPT

I'm not quite so sure why this show got such harsh reviews... I found it charming and the cast all incredibly talented. The story itself was a charming look at different stages of love between three very different couples. It's been a while since I've seen Misty on stage and she was fantastic!! I'd almost forgotten what a great stage presence and beautiful voice she has!! French Stewart (most known for his role on "Third Rock From The Sun") was phenomenal as Victor, a very sweet and troubled security guard. His performance was heartbreaking and very special to watch, I even got rather teary during a few of his scenes. He's usually known for comedy, but I was pleasantly surprised to see just how endearing and touching he could be... it was SUCH a lovely portrayal. :) Sara Rue was also very good as Celeste, his akward and sweet love interest.

After the show, Linda and I stayed around to say HI to Misty. :) She was so sweet, as she always is. She, Linda, Julie, and I all talked for a while before Linda and I had to run to grab a quick bite to eat before we had to be at our next show. It was really nice to see both Julie and Misty :D Recently, the only time that I've seen Misty has been when Julie's been around - I'm really beginning to think they are joined at the hip. ;)

She's Daisy... She's Violet...
Julie and Misty were sweet enough to pose for a photo for me.

ME TOO

This show had a great cast and some hysterical lines! It was written by Mark Goffman, who used to write for West Wing. Danica McKellar (from "Wonder Years") was great as Lucy and was so petite and thin in person! Jeremy Glazer was very appealing as the idealistic Andrew - who believes that his love can save his girlfriend from her life-threatening illness. The show itself was okay... I think that the idealistic and almost unrealistic plot was sweet, but hard to wrap my mind around. It also masquerades as a comedy, when it really ends up being a tear-jerker. I'm glad that I saw the show - it wasn't one of my favorites - but it could also be that I just may not have been in the straight play kind of mood last night.

All in all it was a very nice weekend and I'm very glad I decided to make the trip here!! Today I'm hanging around until check out time (I'm trying to see if I can get a late check out) and then it's off to Trader Joe's and the mall. I can't believe that I've been here the whole weekend and haven't even seen the mall yet! :O Still, this is my "save all the money I can" trip, so maybe I'll stay away from the mall altogether. I also checked and double checked my flight info - so I definitely plan to be on that plane today... :D ...unlike the last time. ;)

Hope you all have a lovely Memorial Day! Big *HUGS* to you all!!
