I've finally gone over to the dark side! :P I actually spent my entire morning working on a very elementary flash banner for my business site. It's not the greatest and it's definitely nothing fancy, but it's my first attempt at Flash. I've been spending the last few hours (more like the last six... which is kind of pathetic!) trying to figure this thing out and trying to make a banner for Kevin's site... *SIGH* I've officially gone over to the dark side and there's no going back. :(

Here's a preview of what I've done for Kevin's site... It's supposed to be the header for my home page, but I may not use it... It just takes too long to load... :P That's what I hate about Flash sites to begin with... :P Are there any Flash gurus out there who can help me improve this?

On an LA theatre note, sadly, I had to give up the idea of going to see Kristi in "Roar of the Greasepaint" in Thousand Oaks on my next trip. :( It would've been SO wonderful to see her, but I just didn't think I could reliably make it down from a 3pm show in Thousand Oaks to meet cahwyguy and his lovely family for a 7pm showing of "Johnny Guitar" at La Mirada. Yahoo maps says the two theatres are 61.9 miles apart, but I didn't want to run the risk of traffic anywhere along my route... It's all good though since "Johnny Guitar" matinee tickets just sprung up on Goldstar last night, so I've decided to see another matinee instead. :)

I'm off to catch up with all of you. :) Hope you're all having a nice weekend! :)

(1) As much as I don't like flash (well, unless people are flashing me :-)), if you must do it, I would have it pause a bit longer at the end of each quote, both so folks can read it, and for dramatic effect. Many flash sites, to avoid annoying people, have a small "skip intro" ability.

(2) You're right about that drive; it will be a bit tight. Let us know if you want to try to get together for dinner before the 7pm show.

1) Very true about flash sites... I never liked them... Odd that I would be creating flash animations for my sites, but I feel that, to be competitive, I should know the basics. :P Good point about the pausing after the quotes and I will definitely look into a "skip intro" link... though the banner will go on the top of my already created html site... so there's really nothing to skip to. :)

2) Dinner would be great before the show. :) Any suggestions as to where to eat? I know there's a mall complex around the area and several restaurants nearby, but I'll have to look into it a little more. :)

Those flash banners look fantastic! I wouldn't have the first clue how to do stuff like that. ;)

Awww, thanks, Karen! I have to read up a little more and study the program much more (I still haven't a clue as to what I'm doing!) :) Thanks for your kind comments, though!

NO WAY Sheri! Your Flash project is really cool! I haven't learned Flash, but you did a good job on your website.

Yikes!! I know, I said I'd never get sucked in by Flash... Shame on me! :P I think I'd want to take a Flash class or something... I still really don't have a good grasp of the program. :P Thanks for your comments, though! :)

Awww, you are so sweet Ashley! Unfortunately, Flash is something that I still haven't a clue about... But I am trying to learn... slowly... VERY slowly. :D

i looked at the hawaii independance page, and i really hope they get it, it would mean anyone who is a resident of hawaii would be able to become a part of that nation if they wanted to. :)

hope your day is going well.

Well, the sovereignty movement is only for native Hawaiians and they've been talking about it for some time now... doesn't really involve the rest of us. I try to stay out of OHA politics as much as possible...

Hope you've had a nice weekend. :)

It said on the Sovereignty page that non-native hawaiians were welcome to become part of the hawaiian nation, if they were a hawaiian resident. such as yourself.

I really like your flash banners very much, they look great!

Hope you are also having a nice weekend, Sheri. :)

Thanks for taking a look, Sabine!! I have a lot more work to do on them... I still need to work out the kinks... and learn more about the program! As much as I don't like Flash, I thought that I should know how to use it for my business. :P

Have a nice week, Sabine!! Big *HUGS* to you!!

The flash banners are nice looking. :)

You are very talented. I wouldn't have the first clue how to do that.

Thanks for looking at them, Laura! I plan to improve them once I can figure the darn program out. ;) There are still SO many things about the program that I haven't a clue how to use, but I'm pretty intent on learning! :D
