No more hose, lovely trades, and mango love!!
On a lighter note (because all of my posts have been so depressing recently) :P ...my work place has finally gotten out of the dark ages! :D In a place as rigid as the bank, we actually had one of our first changes to our dress code manual in over 25 years (I kid you not, the manual they pass out today STILL has pictures from the 1970's and early 80's.) :P Women are FINALLY allowed to wear open toe shoes with their dress slacks AND don't need to wear nylons! Thank goodness!! Especially in a place like Hawaii where the median temperature for at least 90% of the year is 84 degrees. :P

Speaking of weather, the lovely trades are back which means that the humidity we had for the past few weeks has finally gone! Of course the weather would get lovely just as I'm about to leave for LA. ;) I hope the weather there is mild... Thankfully I always seem to miss the rain whenever I'm there. :)

In other good news, the folks in my office have been in mango heaven recently!! :) One of our reps owns a mango farm on the Leeward side of the island and every once in a while he'll drop off some mangos for us. I used to have a mango tree when I was growing up, but our fruit never tasted half as good as his!! And what was once a summer tradition (people giving neighbors, co-workers, etc. mangos until no one could eat any more of them...) now is a valuable asset... Mangos are quite the hot commodity these days, even in Hawaii. :)

I'm off to pack! :) The laundry is already done - which is an odd turn of events for the night before I fly... usually I'm frantically trying to do laundry right now. ;P If I can only figure out what I need to take with me, perhaps my packing will get done tonight too. :) I know, wishful thinking. :P Hope you all have a lovely evening!! :)

I love mangos!

Did you know Altoids came out with mango sours? I had one for the first time today and it was pretty good. ;-)

I've never seen those mango sours! Must look for some when I'm in LA this weekend. :D

I remember the mangoes and how sweet they are in Hawaii. Gosh I love those things.
Pineapple fresh too..ooooo ahhhhh.

They are so sweet here!! Once when I lived in California during college, I was so homesick that I went to the market to buy a mango. It just wasn't the same! :( And you're right, fresh pineapple is extremely delicious. :D

I love MANGOS! I haven't had any recently, but I had a few not too long ago.

I agree Mangos are a rarity or something nowdays. Sad though...

Have a fun, safe trip as always.

Mangos are SO rare these days!! I can't believe it since I remember almost hating mango season! Each year we'd have at least a dozen mangos in our refridgerator that we had to throw out because we couldn't eat them all. :P

Thanks for your trip wishes!! :)

Nylons are the worst!! :P I'm SO glad they did away with that dress code policy!! Men will never understand what we go through... :P

...first changes to our dress code manual...

That sounds like a very good thing to me. Luckily, I never to deal with this. Well, I notice when clothes look dirty or very crumpled but otherwise what somebody wears does not have so much influence on me. Jeans and T-shirt or blouse for example look nice, too. And Jeans have become presentable here, you can wear them nearly everywhere without that somebody looks strange at you.

Glad to hear that the humidity is gone and I hope that you will have nice weather in LA. :)

I admit that I never ate a Mango. Is there any possibility to describe its taste?

Hope you have a safe trip and a nice time in LA! :)

Big *hugs* to you, Sheri!

Our dress code has been very strict for a while - I guess it comes from working at a really conservative place like the bank. :P In our department, we're allowed to wear jeans, but only on Fridays... and I know the people who work downstairs and have customer contact are not allowed to wear jeans at all. :P They're still pretty strict. :P But at least no nylons anymore AND we can wear open toed shoes!! Woo hoo! :D

The weather is SO nice here now!! The days are sunny and cool and the nights are pretty chilly. :) It's the weather that I love! Too bad I'm leaving tonight!

Mangos are very sweet in taste and have a similar taste to a papaya (but better because I'm not fond of papayas). The flesh of the fruit is bright orange and it has a sweet taste, and if you eat it at the right time, a nice texture too (if you eat it when it's too ripe it gets a little mushy...) :P It's really delicious, though and it's such a rarity here now.

Thanks for the good trip wishes. :) Big *HUGS* to you too! :)

Nylons= pain in the butt!

I'm so glad you can get rid of them. :)

The weather here has been off and on hot and cold. It can't make up it's mind. It was pretty warm yesterday, and well it's always a bit humid here to me compared to when I lived out in the Inland Empire where it is dry heat.

See you soon! Be safe.

I totally agree about the nylons!! I hate them!! We were all SO happy about the change in the dress code manual! :D

And I noticed that it is rather warm here. I hope the nights are cooler, though because I brought mostly cool weather clothes. :P

Can't wait to see you guys!! *HUGS*!!

I think people should always look professional and put-together in an office setting, but I hate dress codes... :-/

Sheri: Sheri - yahoo iconshutterbug93 on June 16th, 2006 10:58 pm (UTC)
I have to agree! Our dress code was getting a bit outdated, though so I'm glad they changed it. :)

Hope you guys are having the best time!!! Have a safe trip too!! :D

Now if the men could just wear open toed shoes we shall have REAL progress.
