It feels like it's been SO long since I've updated...
My apologies for being so absent from here lately, I've been SO tired after my LA trip and I came home to A LOT of great work that needed to be done on all of my websites. That, coupled with all the horrible stress going on at work added up to VERY little leisure time on the computer recently. I still have LOTS of catching up to do - both here and on all my websites, but that's my plan for this weekend...

On Thursday night, Mark & I went to see the Diamond Head Theatre production of "Into the Woods." It's one of my favorite shows and I was so excited that it was being produced locally... but unfortunately, the performance that we happened to see with the particular cast that we saw, was a little disappointing. There were a few stand out performances, Joseph Morales, who played Jack was excellent as was Elizabeth Hartnett, who played Cinderella... but I don't know, maybe I've been spoiled by seeing Christopher Sieber and Gregg Edelman in the roles of the Princes, but the reprise of "Agony" (which is one of my favorite parts of the show) was far less hysterical than I remembered it being when I saw the pre-Broadway run at the Ahmanson several years ago... And I know it was a local production, but still - the production of "The Full Monty" that Diamond Head Theatre staged to begin this year's season was FAR more professional and seemed to be at the level of many of the shows that I've seen in LA... Unfortunately, this production was a bit of a disappointment. :(

Speaking of theatre in Hawaii, though - some good news is that we're getting our first Equity tour in over 5 years! The national tour of "Movin' Out" is coming here in September and I've already purchased tickets for us to see it on the 15th of the month. :) The good news is that it seems to be selling really well. Hopefully good ticket sales will lead to more tours coming here - and maybe I won't have to keep traveling so far to get my theatre fix. ;)

And I let my Mom borrow my "It's My Party" dvd so she could see what I'd been raving about this whole time. I was a little afraid of what she might think of it, but she called me after she watched it to tell me just how much she loved it! I swear, it's SUCH a beautiful and touching movie and it's SUCH a shame that it's been relegated to late night cable viewing... I really think it deserves so much more! I don't think I'll ever stop raving about the movie... I've already seen it over ten times (since getting the dvd) and I know I'll probably see it many more times...

In fuzzy dog news, Sydney's still holding on to third place by a small margin in the Savory Dog Treat contest. I believe that tomorrow is the last day to vote and I thank you all SO much for voting for her!! She's SO far behind Jake and I know she won't win, but she'll always be a star in our eyes!! :D

I'm off to do more work on my sites. I still have some pictures that I need to post of my weekend in LA... Hopefully if I can finish everything, I can post them tomorrow. :) Hope you're all having a nice weekend! :) *HUGS*

I know exactly what you mean...sometimes when you get home after a vacation, it just takes a little while to feel caught up and settle back in and get yourself organized! Take your time! :) I hope you did have a nice weekend!

I'm sorry the ITW production was a little disappointing...I find that, too, though - sometimes you see a phenomenal production and you are spoiled by how wonderful it is. I'm the same way with Cabaret; after having seen the Broadway revival, I find that nothing else can live up to it. :)

Enjoy Movin' Out, though! How wonderful...it's such a great show. Who is on the tour cast right now?

Thanks so much, Karen!! I don't know what it is about this recent trip, but I just haven't been able to get back into the swing of things. :P Hopefully by the end of this week I'll be back to my normal internet routine. :)

I really think that you're right about ITW... Mark, who hadn't seen the production that I saw in LA thought it was a great show. After seeing Chris Sieber as the Prince, it was really hard to see anyone else in the role.

And we're very excited about the "Movin' Out" tour coming here! :) Hopefully Holly will still be in the cast (and will be on the night we're going) I've always wanted to see her in the show!
