I'm sorry I haven't been here for a while...
Work has been incredibly ridiculous (starting on Monday with a shocking resignation of one of our best reps), my diet has been shot to hell (darn all that yummy dim sum...) and darn it... I have to admit this, but I've been spending WAAAY too much time watching a new DVD set that I recently purchased... And okay, I'll admit that I'm actually pretty addicted to it... It's Queer as Folk... Who would've thought?

And yes... I realize that I'm always late in discovering things - and this is no exception (yes, leave it to me to realize how great this show is AFTER it's over...)

Some of the scenes are pretty explicit, but if you can get past the shock value of that - the storylines, the acting, and writing are extremely engaging. Currently I'm halfway through Season 2 on DVD and it's amazing... and I have to say, Hal Sparks is just adorable. And I can't even describe the talent that Gale Harold has... he's AMAZING - to be able to play such a self-involved jerk that we all should hate, but end up really loving just makes his portrayal all the more special... His storyline with Randy Harrison is turning out to be incredibly touching and beautiful...

"Then you turned around and smiled... and then I knew why Debbie calls you Sunshine..." *SIGH*

One of my favorite scenes (aside from the one I quoted above) is of Michael and Brian on the rooftop in the first episode. In fact, I think it was when Michael turned around to hug Brian, that I knew that this was a show that I needed to keep watching.

So I've been watching it in marathon fashion - like a good book, not wanting to put it down - always wanting to know what happens next... And because of it, I've completely gotten behind on LJ (I just realized this morning hadn't logged in since Sunday...), my sites, and email. And I promise to catch up on all of your entries tonight.

Hope you're all well, big *HUGS* and I miss you all...

Thanks, Daniel - just trying to hold on until my theatre trip in a couple of weeks...

I missed you too, Sheri! Glad to see you! And I definitely understand this: like a good book, not wanting to put it down :)

Hope you've a nice day. Big *hugs* to you!

Thanks so much, Sabine! I'm so sorry I haven't been around! :( I'll be around a bit more this weekend and I'll try to catch up on everything at that time. :D

Hope you're having a nice weekend! *HUGS*

Hi Sheri,

I'm glad you're doing well! I was so behind with everyone, but I did catch up on all of your entries last night, and I actually managed to update mine in the process! :) Congratulations on the promotion, by the way! Happy Friday, and I hope you have a great weekend! :)

hee. I got into QAF about half-way through season 4. so I literally went and bought the first three seasons and devoured them in record time. it really is a wonderfully addictive show. I guess this probably comes as no surprise how much I loved the show given how much of a slash fan everyone knows I am. :)

I'm so addicted to it! Season 2 is much better than season 1 and I've been spending WAAAAY too much time watching it.

Yay, another Queer as Folk fan. =) I loved that show. Brian & Justin were always my favorites. There were so many great B/J quotes. That one you mentioned is adorable. A few years ago when my LJ layout featured B&J I had several quotes by them. Here are two I love that don't spoil much:

Justin: Stop being cynical.
Brian: I'm not being cynical, I'm being-
Justin: -Realistic?
Brian: Do you mind if I finish my own sentences? I despise when couples do that.
Justin: Hah! did you hear that, rubber ducky? He said couples, I should quit while I'm ahead.

Brian: All this running back and forth between here and Daphne’s is time-consuming. And inconvenient. I mean, just last week, you forgot your socks and had to borrow a pair of mine. And as for the times when you’re not around, I wouldn’t particularly mind it if you were.
Justin: I’ve been waiting for you to ask me that since the first night you brought me here.
Brian: Well, then what do you say? Should I make room in my drawers for your drawers?

I'm not a fan of the guy (David) in your icon, though. I didn't think him & Mikey went well together. Wait until you see more of Ben. He appears sometime in season two. You've probably already seen a few episodes with him.

Great, GREAT quotes, Jami!! I finally got to see some Michael and Ben scenes and you're right - LOVE them! :) Just got through with episode 11 of season 2... I simply adored the medicine cabinet scene... *SIGH* And although David was probably not the right guy for Michael, I have to admit being a fan of Chris Potter... :)

Brian and Justin's storyline is just so beautiful at the beginning of season 2... I just couldn't stop watching them. LOVE your icon!!

Sorry work has been hectic. :(

I've missed ya around here, but understand about being consumed by things. :) At least it's a good habit, and not a bad one. HUGS!

I've missed you, Laura!! :( Thanks for your sweet comments! And I'm beginning to think my all-consuming addiction for QAF is getting to be a bad thing. ;) *HUGS*

I am totally addicted to that show. And NetFlix can't get the disks to me fast enough. I haven't gotten any in a long time, but it's one series I definitely want to buy.

And Hal Sparks IS adorable!!

Have you watched the entire season? I'm up to episode 11 in season 2... I can't afford to buy season 3 just yet ($109???) so I'm going to have to slow down on my QAF watching for now... :P

Oh my gosh, I don't know what it is about Hal Sparks, but I find him SO adorable! Michael's scenes with Ben... even the scenes with David.... *SIGH*

I finished season three and haven't been able to start season four yet. I have a thing for Emmett though... his goofy smile gets me all the time.

Ahhh... I agree, Peter Paige is adorable!! For me, there's something SOOOO incredible about Hal Sparks and I'm not quite sure what it is... I think it's because he's such an incredible actor!! I just LOVED the medicine cabinet scene with Ben... He is so amazing!!

:) It makes me all fuzzy inside.

Aw, we miss you too! But I'm glad you're finding some nice personal time to do something you love in amongst your work stress...everyone needs something like that! I've always been interested in QAF, but I shouldn't get involved in any dvd sets right now. When I bought all of the seasons of Felicity on dvd, I would watch 5 at a time sometimes! :)
Sheri: Queer As Folk - Michael & Davidshutterbug93 on September 23rd, 2006 06:59 pm (UTC)
Thanks SO much, Karen - you're SO sweet!! And thanks for the sweet MySpace message!! I think you'd really love QAF - in fact, I'm positive you will. It's a little graphic, but once you get past that, there are extremely beautiful moments... *SIGH*

Tv on DVD is possibly one of the most addicting things EVER! I can watch a whole season in a weekend. It's really bad.. :/

I'm also sad to get into things after they're already over because then it's SO hard to catch up. Like, I've always wanted to watch Six Feet Under.. but now it's not on TV and there are so many seasons. *sigh*

It's nice to hear from you! I hope you're doing alright! :)
Sheri: Queer As Folk - Michael & Ben 2shutterbug93 on September 23rd, 2006 07:04 pm (UTC)
It is SO addicting!!! I keep telling myself - "Just one more episode and then I'll go to sleep..." but then I find myself wanting to know what happens next... and next thing I know, it's 4am... GAH! ;P

I think that you and Karen will really like QAF, though. :) It is a little graphic (it makes Brokeback Mountain look like Walt Disney) ;) but once you get past all that, it's lovely...

Big *HUGS*
