Man of La Mancha at the Rubicon (woo hoo for Randal Keith!!), the after party, and Hal Sparks

So, yep, I made it to LA in one piece and although I got close to NO sleep the entire flight over and ended up spending most of my in air time watching W&G on my new portable DVD player that Mark got me as an early anniversary gift :)... I would've watched QaF, but didn't think the person next to me would've been too thrilled if I had that playing on my screen... :P

Man of La Mancha

Tonight I drove up to the Rubicon Theatre in Ventura to see the opening night of "Man of La Mancha." Linda was the sweetheart who made it all possible. :) The show was FABULOUS and really one of the stronger shows I've seen all year! The cast was INCREDIBLE!! George Ball (who I'd previously seen in "The Most Happy Fella" with Kevin) was incredible as Don Quixote - his acting really tugged at my heart making me bawl like a baby in several scenes. Jennifer Shelton was just AMAZING and when she sang "Aldonza" in the second act, it was so painful, that I was in tears before she was done... And Randal Keith (who I'd seen previously in Les Mis) was wonderful as the innkeeper, I just wished he had more solos... Finally, I think found a new favorite theatre performer... Joseph Fuqua... My gosh, not only was he an INCREDIBLY talented actor, but his stage presence was SO unbelievable!! And, dare I say that he was INCREDIBLY attractive... so much so that I couldn't help but look at him whenever he was onstage... *SIGH, SIGH and triple SIGH*

After Party

After the show, Linda was sweet enough to drive me to the opening night party (which, after we'd gotten there I was quite sure I would NEVER have found if I drove on my own!!) It was really a lovely evening and I got to meet Sam Zeller who told me to say HI to Bets when I see her tomorrow :), got to talk with Randal about the days he worked in Chicago with Kevin's Mom and he told me that he'll probably be working more with him now that he's moved to LA, and I got to see and meet the hottness that is Joseph Fuqua live and in person... *SIGH* :) In addition to all the wonderful people I got to speak with, I also had the world's most fabulous brownie... all chocolately and gooey... I know I wasn't supposed to eat it, but what's vacation for if I can't splurge a little? All in all it was a fabulous evening and I owe it all to Linda!! :)

Tomorrow I'm seeing "The Marvelous Wonderettes" with Daniel and his family and Linda and her family will also be there too so it should be a lot of fun! And then, I'm staying at the El Portal and catching the evening performance of "Beehive" - there's really nothing quite like great theatre to take away all my work stress!!! :) :)

I figured out my Hal Sparks attraction...

BTW, last thing before I end this... I FINALLY figured out where my HUGE attraction to Hal Sparks stems from... I love that he's so fearless in his portrayal of Michael, that he's SUCH a talented actor, but more importantly, I love that he's extremely literate and very intelligent - not to mention I love his political beliefs AND he's like me and never drank alcohol before in his life (and never wants to). I admit, he's not the type of actor that I normally get attached to, but I have to say, intelligence and wonderful political beliefs are INCREDIBLY sexy qualities... Am I the only one who thinks so? (BTW my icon of him is from the fabulous site www.benmichaelforever.com) :)

Anyway, I'm SOOOOO exhausted and I feel like it's been one whole LOOOONG day since I got up for work on Friday... So I'm going to try to get some sleep.... I will catch up with your entries and comments when I wake up tomorrow, I promise!! :) Hope you're all having a nice weekend!! *HUGS*
