I'm So Weak...
...Must.Find.Out.About.Tonys. *SIGH* As if I thought I could stay away from the internet or read the message boards spoiler free and actually be surprised to see the winners. I've already gone to the Tony's official site - watched the web-cast (until it went wonky on me...), and looked at all the theatre message boards that I know of... :( So much for being surprised! :P And I have another 5 and a half hours before the awards are actually going to be shown here... I'm pathetic! :P (And in case anyone wonders, I did the exact same thing last year...) :) I've said it before and I'll say it again - I HATE being 6 hours behind the East Coast! :(

In non-Tony news: we continue to have awful thunder-showers here. :P Poor Sydney is so afraid of the thunder that she constantly tries to jump into my lap as I'm using the computer. :( Poor thing... Right now she's hiding under my desk. :(

My friend Marina called me this afternoon from Disney's CA Adventure to ask if another one of my friend's was there for Super Soap Weekend (the huge soap opera meet-the-stars weekend). Apparently, she thought she saw her standing in Chad Brannon's line but didn't want to make a complete fool of herself and say HI if that wasn't her. Yes, my friends are all seeing Chad Brannon today and I'm sitting at home waiting to hear Denis O'Hare's name being announced - what's wrong with this picture? ;)

And woo hoo! I got notification from Amazon that they FINALLY shipped out my "Parade" CD!! :) I don't know why it took them nearly an entire week to ship it, but I'm just glad that it's on its way - AND I finally got Mark to help me make a CD of my "other" Parade stuff - he's working on that right now. :) **SIGH** Add to that my CD for "The Last 5 Years" and I'm in Jason Robert Brown heaven!! :)

Wanted to welcome a couple more friends to my LJ: angyllina and i_am_angieface. :) Welcome ladies! I promise I usually don't talk this much about theatre but you've both caught me on a bad day - it's the Tony Awards, after all! :)

And I thought being 3 hours behind the East Coast was awful.

It's hard internet wise too since when I get home from work everyone's usually asleep on the East Coast. :(

Thanks. :) I usually talk mostly about real life...really I do. :)

They were FABULOUS...ahh I cried during Billy Joel's thingy at the beginning, he's amazing. You're gonna love 'em in their entirety. Brian Stokes Mitchell did an amazing job with his song from Man of La Mancha. Have fun watching them..!

Re: Tony's!!!
Ah! I did have fun! :) I always enjoying seeing all the live performances - makes me wish I had seen more shows when I was up in NYC. I was so happy for Denis O'Hare who I LOVED in "Take Me Out" - and no matter what anyone says - whether or not people thought she deserved it, I have to admit that I got very teary eyed at the end of Marissa's speech... There were several disappointments, but I thought it was a wonderful show. :)

I cried at her speech too!
I hate how everyone is saying Bernadette should've won just because she's Bernadette and is a Broadway legend...give the new girls a chance!! And Bernadette looked VERY happy for Marissa...I'm kind of disappointed that Gypsy was totally shunned...I just don't think it's been out long enough to earn the recognition it needs to win. So yea, I was very happy with Marissa winning...she looked SO surprised when they called her name! But they're all SO different at what they do...this really shouldn't be a competition because each one of them does something different every night and there really can be no "best." Harvey Fierstein said it best in his acceptance speech, that he is not on the same level as the other actors because they are all completely different...but I'm really glad that the losers support the winners because all of them obviously worked VERY hard to get where they are today and they're all very deserving in their own ways!

Re: I cried at her speech too!
I couldn't agree more, it's SO hard to compare all the performances because they're all SO different and all so deserving in their own ways.

I did the peeking thing for the last episode of Dawsons Creek - but there was so much to read, I got tired and started to fall asleep and said forget it. I was so curious - but it wasnt worth reading through everything - he he.

And hey - I dont mind - talk about whatever makes you happy. :-D

I told myself I wasn't going to - but I couldn't help it - with the information so easily accessible - how could I not? ;) I still enjoyed watching the awards later though, so I guess my knowing in advance didn't lessen my enjoyment. :)

In non-Tony news: we continue to have awful thunder-showers here.

Oh, that we had Sunday afternoon. But today the weather seems to be nice, still a little cold at the moment but the sun is shining. Poor Sydney, please give her a hug from me.

I'm glad to hear that Amazon finally shipped out your CD - hope, it will be there soon.

Wish you a good beginning of the new week. :)

I will definitely give Sydney a hug for you. :) She doesn't like the deep - earthshaking rumbles of thunder or fireworks... She always wants to be carried whenever there's a thunder storm. Luckily the storm seems to have passed and she seems to be okay now. :) Glad to hear that you've been having sunny weather recently - and no more humidity. :)

Hope you have a nice week too. *hugs* to you & Lauser :)

Heheheh, my friend Monica told me who won most of the awards tonight. I thought all the musical segments were really good. I loved LB though, with the dueling Musettas. *LOL* I really liked Hairspray and Brian, he was just great! I love his voice.

Was there loud thunder? We had some, but it wasn't that loud. I don't think our dog went crazy...
Sherishutterbug93 on June 9th, 2003 02:49 am (UTC)
BSM was great! :) Loved his "Impossible Dream"...what a voice! :) And LB was great - though it surprised me how "involved" their staging was. I was shocked when all those people came through the audience and all those streamers came flying out... wow...

BTW, I deleted my post above, because everything that I wanted to say about the Tony's I'm saying in these comments.. :)

And the thunder was pretty loud around 2 in the afternoon, then it stopped with the rain - for no reason at all and then the sun came out. Weird, I tell you... but not as weird as those tornados ...now that's weird...and scary! :(

Re: HA HA!!
Gotta say I'm still pretty bitter about the whole time difference thing ;) but knowing that we aren't the only ones with lousy weather right now makes me feel a wee bit vindicated. ;) Just kidding, of course, hope the weather clears up for you soon. :)
