When we arrived, we caught Kevin running in from his car. We gave him a quick hug and I realized he had no idea I was coming to the concert... It's so funny, because he used to be the first person I'd tell whenever I'm in town, but lately he always seems to be the last to know. We also ran into Bets near the dressing rooms (in a bathrobe with her hair in curlers - how cute!) who said the traffic there was just terrible...
At the concert we also ran into Corliss, Dianne, and Sumi (the wonderful ladies who like Kevin as well who I'd met at the Colony Theatre over a year ago.) :) It was a really nice atmosphere and really interesting how the theatre was set up... We entered through the stage door and sat at dining tables that were set up on the actual stage. There was a small dinner before the show and a great cheesecake dessert during intermission. I've never been to dinner theatre before - so that was definitely an experience!!
The concert itself was incredible!! I've seen Bets onstage so many times, but I've never seen her sing out of character... She's SUCH a fabulous character actress (one of the best in LA!) but the only times that I've seen her, she's sung SO in character that I never really got the chance to hear what she could really do. SO beautiful! And Kevin... when he sang "I Turned the Corner" from "Thoroughly Modern Millie," I almost died! I've always loved that song and being such a huge Millie fan, I've ALWAYS wanted to hear Kevin sing the Jimmy role... but of course, the only part I've seen him play is Trevor Graydon - so last night was a REAL treat!!
It was also interesting to see the both of them play romantic leads together. :) I've seen the both of them in many, MANY shows together but because Kevin is always the romantic lead and Bets is always the wonderful character actress, they've NEVER been paired together! When they kissed in the concert, I turned to Mark and said, "That's SO sweet, but something seems so wrong with that!" Not that I don't think they were fabulous together last night, but they've always seemed more "brother - sister" to me,... I don't know...
Kevin and Bets were both fabulous last night!!!
While there I had the pleasure of meeting Bets' in laws (Steve's parents) at the show. :)
They were both SO sweet and funny and I noticed immediately how much Steve and his father look alike!
I had to photoshop the white back in my eye here - it still looks pretty scary. :P
Thank goodness for photoshop!! Bets looks fabulous as always, BTW! :)
I think you can see my bad eye in this one. :P
Kevin and Bets always look so stunning!! :)
And I love this picture of Kevin & Bets with Mark! :D
Today we're going to check out of our hotel in Cypress, and head up to the Burbank area (where we will be staying for the rest of our trip.) We'll probably try to hit the Glendale Galleria and the Burbank Media Center this afternoon before seeing the evening showing of "13" at the Mark Taper Forum later tonight. :) I hope you're all having a GREAT Friday!! Big *HUGS* to you all!! I'm off to wake the sleepy hubby now.
