The very first thing we did was hit the Buffet at the Wynn hotel. :) There were surpringly a lot of things that I could eat there - but at $21.95 a person, it almost wasn't worth it. :P The desserts in the dessert bar looked really good, but by then I was much too full to take full advantage of it.
That night we headed to the Venetian Hotel to see Kristi in Phantom. She was just INCREDIBLE! When she opened her mouth to sing her first note, I almost broke into tears... it was just that beautiful! She looked absolutely gorgeous in her Christine costumes and I was just SOOOO happy and SOOOO proud of her - she was just stunning on stage!
The production itself was very impressive - the sets, the costumes, everything was just SO lavish! I'd never seen Phantom before (I'm ashamed to admit!) and though I knew mostly all of the songs, I didn't expect the story to be so heartfelt. Brent Barrett was the Phantom that night and I loved his characterization of the role... In particular, the final scene with Christine was just so heartbreaking.
After the show, we got the opportunity to see Kristi - she was nice enough to offer to take us on a little backstage tour and we were able to see the props and the trap door, and see her view from the stage... She was SOOOO sweet to do that for us!! We spoke quite a bit, took some pictures - it was so wonderful to see her!! I am SOOO happy that she's doing so well - as I've said before, sometimes really great things DO happen to the people who really deserve it!
Kristi was SOOOO stunning in the show!! It was SOOOO great to see her!!
I look totally silly here, but I think it's a cute photo. :)
With Mark at the Venetian before seeing Kristi in Phantom. :)
We've just gotten back to the Burbank area - but I think I'm headed for a little nap before my evening show tonight (we're seeing Zanna, Don't! at the Hyperion Theatre). Hope you're all having a nice week. :) Big HUGS to you all!!
