YAY! Web stuff and we got our portraits taken. :)
Web Stuff!

The Chess 2007 Concert Site has finally gone live! :) I spent most of yesterday working on it and this morning I uploaded it to the server - if anyone is interested in seeing the final product, here it is:

It was great working on the site and hopefully it can help in some small way to promote the concert - as it's for a very good cause and is being performed in honor of a very special person (see the "About the Event" page for details about that).

I'm currently working on completing the Children's Theatre Site that I've been working on for the past week or so. This site should be ready to go live VERY soon as well. If anyone is interested, here's the work-in-progress site:

Taking our family portraits!

Yesterday, Mark & I took Sydney down to Ace Portrait Studio (which is owned by a friend of mine) to take a family portrait. It's been YEARS since we've had a formal studio portrait taken and since we know Sydney might not be with us for much longer, we didn't want to wait.

Boy, things have sure changed since I worked in a portrait studio!! The photographer took about 10 shots and then said, "Let's see how they look." We followed him into a back room filled with computers and he had me pick the one I wanted, re-touched it, and printed my enlargement all while we waited!! I got to take my portraits home with me - YAY for technology. :)

When I used to work in the portrait studio, I used to have to process the film and print proofs out on a HUGE Fuji print machine. The clients used to have to wait an hour for their proofs and would have to come back two weeks later for their enlargements... Talk about instant gratification these days... And with no film and chemicals to process the proofs - overhead for portrait studios must be SOOO low these days!

I'm just amazed!

So, I've scanned the photo that we've taken and will post it tomorrow when I've had a chance to complete all the lovely web work that I've been doing. :) Hope you're all having a nice weekend! Big HUGS to you all!! :)

Oooh the Chess site looks fantastic! You ended up going with my favorite even though I didn't comment and tell you which was my favorite.

I want to see the family portrait!

I worked in a portrait studio when I was 16. I took passport photos and put frames together. My boss was French and constantly smoked French cigarettes. I had to wear dresses and heels to work. That's all I remember about it.

Thanks for taking a look at the site, Rita!! :) I'm happy that they liked the way it turned out - hopefully it'll help to promote the show in some small way. :)

My scanner is really old and on its last legs, so I think I'm going to have to scan the photo again - I'll definitely try to post it tomorrow though - once all the web work is done. :D

It's so exciting taking portraits these days - and it seems like it'd be great to work in a photo studio. Imagine, no chemicals to get on your hands and clothes? No light proof boxes... WOW! I'd go back to my old job now. :)

Well, it wasn't my favorite, but I can understand why they chose that one! It all looks great, except that in Mozilla Firefox the ticket prices don't line up correctly - because one of the descriptions is two lines, I guess. It's perfect in Explorer.

Looking forward to seeing the picture!

Thanks for the comment about the ticket prices not lining up! I put a spacer gif in there and hopefully that will help. Could you do me a HUGE favor and check it again in Firefox and let me know if it helped or made it worse. ;)

Thanks for taking a look and for your comments!

Nope. Didn't solve the problem.

The first line of text (VIP Center Seating and Post-Party) has no price to the left.

The second line of text (Reception) has a price ($200) to the left.

The third line of text (Front / Mid Orchestra) has no price to the left.

The fourth line has a price ($125) and text (Rear Orchestra).

The fifth line has a price ($50) and text (Last 2 Rows).

The sixth line has a price ($35) only.

In every case where there is a price, it appears to be printed slightly higher than the text part.

Thanks for looking at it for me!! UGH! This one thing is driving me batty! ;) I put each price and seat descrpition into its own table cell so maybe that will help. When you have the chance, do you think you could help look at it and let me know if it worked? Thanks SO MUCH and sorry!!!

Sorry I just got back to this. We've been doing our taxes (yes, we're the Extension family!) and it's such a pain.

Anyway, it's better now, because each price is clearly associated with the correct line. The highest price is next to the second line of text, and it is still slightly above that line, but it looks okay. Then there is a break, followed by the last three lines.

Thank you SO much for all your help! It's hard for me to tell what the site looks like in different browsers! :P

Hope all is well with your taxes! :)

You're very welcome! The taxes are done, we're getting a refund (should have done this months ago) which will go towards Bethany's tuition, and now I'm off to work!

Hope you have a great day - I know you had a very busy weekend too!

Let me know when the Children's Theatre site is done. I'd like to point my sister-in-law to it; it might be good for my niece.

I will definitely let you know, it should probably go live (with registration info, forms, etc. by early this week) - If I can get my act together on everything! ;)

YAY for a family photo. I can't wait to see it! Guess what, I might be getting a puppy soon. Since we have a small house, we can't have a large dog... so I'm thinking of a small pup! We'll see I've hinted to Brendon that's what I want for my birthday! LOL we'll see!

Give the fuzzy dog some love for me!

YAY for you getting a puppy! I'm very excited for you - what kind of small dog were you thinking of getting?

I will definitely give Sydney fuzz some love from you!! HUGS!!!

Well I wanted a Maltese but they are so expensive, so I am just trying to tell myself that I'm probably not getting a puppy... just so when it does or doesn't happen I'll either be ok with it or surprised that I got one. LOL
