Getting ready for NYC...
...spent the better part of my morning planning the eating portions of my upcoming trip to NYC with my Mom. :) Since we're flying in on Thursday and have the entire morning and afternoon free on Friday, I thought it might be nice to have brunch at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. I've never actually been there and I thought it would be nice for my Mom to see. :)

I also found a good veggie place in Times Square which I'm pretty sure we'll try to go to more than once while we're there - and we're meeting up with a LJ friend and having dinner at Tony's :) - so it sounds like not only an incredible theatre weekend, but an incredible eating weekend as well. :)

Aside from googling NYC restaurants, I also spent a great deal of time watching clips of Jeff Dunham's (Je-fafa Dun-HAM dot com) "Spark of Insanity" DVD on You Tube - I have to say - I used to love watching his act in the early 90's on A&E, but it's gotten much funnier... And so his humor is a bit un-PC at times, I still love him. :)

I've also been watching Season 3 of "Slings & Arrows" on DVD and I have to say, there's something kinda attractive about Paul Gross, even though he looks MUCH older and almost maniacal...

His Geoffrey is oddly attractive to me and I can't figure out why (maybe it's his intelligence or his passion/madness on the show) - I never especially cared for him in due South - DS was all about Callum Keith Rennie for me, after all...

Well, I'm off to catch up on all of your entries. Hope you're all having a nice weekend! :)

Definitely! :) Too bad I won't be at any show that you're seeing next weekend! :(

DS was all about Paul Gross for me! I went to Canada looking for red-coated Mounties - I even went to see the Musical Ride on Canada Day! Red coats galore!

Now I have to find out what Slings and Arrows is all about...

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

I have to admit that I've never seen Season 1 or 2 of DS and had I seen the "Victoria" episode, it may have changed my mind. :) It's funny but I actually began watching DS because Callum Keith Rennie was in it - I read a slash fic before even knowing who the characters were... :)

"Slings & Arrows" is a GREAT comedy written by Susan Coyne, Bob Martin, and Mark McKinney. It's a great darkish comedy about a theatre troupe in Canada. I love the show, it's well written, hilarious, and soooo compelling! You should rent the dvd! :)

Can't wait to meet you this Friday!!

I've got a few restaurant recommendations for your next trip to NYC, if you want. places my parents love, and they have extremely discriminating tastes, so I would feel comfortable recommending them to you. I hope you enjoy the Tavern on the Green. make suer you walk through the whole place and see *everything*. it's quite the beautiful place, although I'm not as crazy about the food as I used to be. but, it's still a fun place to go from time to time. we went there for my b'day a few years back. :)

Thanks so much! We'd actually love suggestions! I wish we were in NYC for longer than we are (only the weekend, basically) but we want to try as many great places as possible. :) And I've never been to Tavern on the Green before so it should be nice and my Mom just loves places like that with great atmosphere! :)

I'm hoping that my Mom enjoys it! :) I'm very excited because it's been a while since we've been there. :D

Tavern on The Green sounds nice. :) It sure sounds like you and your mom will have a great time in NY. I can't wait to read all about it once you get back. :D *hugs*

I think my Mom will enjoy walking around Central Park a bit and seeing Tavern on the Green. I've never been there before either so it should be a nice experience! :) Thanks so much for your comment! :) HUGS!

For veggie near Times Square (and easy on the wallet), I recommend Zen Palate - 9th Ave and 48th, I think. (it's on 9th, I just can't remember how far up the cross street is - we always walk over to 9th for restaurants when in NY because it's way cheaper for better food in Hell's Kitchen.)

I'm madly in love with Geoffrey because of his intelligence and passion and insight. The whole "You hate theatre, Darren" thing, the way he works with that guy in accounting in Series 1 fucking around with text, the way he works around and against Henry in Series 2, and his overwhelming compassion and understanding in Series 3, these are why I love him. Of course, everything else is why Ellen can have him - I can't actually deal with him :)

Ah, thanks! I've heard of Zen Palate and have always wanted to try the food there. :) I will definitely take a look - thanks for mentioning it.

I think you hit it on the head when you said that it was his overwhelming compassion and understanding in Season 3 -- that's exactly what I find so attractive about his Geoffrey (along with, of course, the intelligence and the passion/madness thing...) :)

Zen Palate! Zen Palate!

And what's with the pronunciation of "Jeff"? :-)

Oh, now I have to try Zen Palate! :)

And what's with the pronunciation of "Jeff"? :-)

I don't know if you saw his new act with Peanut... :)

Re: Good news for S&A fans!
They're coming out with a box set? Darn! I have all three seasons individually already. I love watching the bloopers on the dvd sets I have now, though. Too bad, a behind the scenes featurette might be nice to see. :)

Re: Good news for S&A fans!
And this is the strangest thing, but I have that song, "Trying to Be Heard" from East Hastings stuck in my damn head from Season 3... :P
