When we left we looked at the line, which extended around the block and down the street. Never before have I seen so many people taking such an active part in choosing the leaders of our country - there were young people barely out of high school, working people, elderly people... I honestly think that whatever happens in the race, the real winners are all the people who have been touched in such a profound way that they would rush home through hours of traffic to stand in line for hours to have their vote counted.
On the biased side of caucus night, there were TONS of people wearing Obama items, T-shirts, buttons, stickers, etc. No Clinton items anywhere to be found... I also spent a lot of time speaking with the people in line around us (since we were standing there for hours) and they were wonderful and intelligent, caring, and eloquent individuals. An older lady said, "I'm not voting because of me, I'm voting for my children and grandchildren - to try to leave them with a better country." For the record, they were ALL Obama supporters...
I left the caucus with really sore feet, a bumper sticker, two campaign items, and a renewed hope in our future.
