I FINALLY got a new computer! :)
After months of searching around, I finally found a computer that I liked that I could actually somewhat afford. :) It's not really state of the art or really blazing fast like rush2112 is used to - but for me - anything is an upgrade from the 6 year old computer that I'm using now. :P I haven't set it up yet, I need to migrate all my files to CDs and find my Photoshop disc, etc before I say goodbye to this one... (That'll probably take me the whole weekend...) :P It's great though and hopefully that'll put an end to my computer crashing every time I try to use Photoshop and GoLive together. :P (Yes, my old computer was pretty pathetic...) :P

In other news: the firework show last night was awesome! :) The best part about it was getting to spend time with Susan and Fredrick. :) We all brought our cameras and spent the entire 25 minutes of the show taking pictures of the fireworks... So while everyone was "Oooohing and Ahhhing" all you could hear from us was, "Crap! Drat! Damn!" - because of all the missed shots due to the lag time on the digital. :P It was kind of amusing. :) The traffic wasn't even too bad - it only took us about 2 hours to get home (an hour of which was just to get out of the mall parking lot). :P

And the hot humid weather is back! Gah! At least there's a trace of wind, but it was so hot today that I wanted to spend the whole day in the frozen food section of the market. :P An AC might've been a more appropriate purchase today - less fun than a new computer, but more appropriate, nonetheless... :)
Current Mood: Broke, but happy :)

Congratulations on purchasing a new toy :) What did you end up getting?

It's a Compaq - I was looking at buying a Dell initially and almost bought one since I have a Dell laptop at work - but I came across a pretty good deal - and really I don't need tons of speed - right now anything is faster than my 1997 computer... :P I'm someone who has fears change - when it comes to electronics (I was still using IE 4.0 up until the beginning of the year!) but I thought I should get a new computer before the old one dies on me. :P

Very cool! Enjoy :)

Congrats on getting a new puter! How fun!

I wish I could have bought air conditioning today!!! Sitting on top of the wall unit one in the living room isnt even helping. Sigh. Its 88% humidity here right now - and the neighbors have their heavy metal music blaring, and I think I might be close to going mental. LOL

Share some fireworks pictures - I didnt see any in the sky ones..... :-/

Thanks! I'm really excited to set it up. :) And as the days here get hotter and hotter - I think I'm going to wish that I had spent that money on an AC too... Right now though, since the sun went down, I'm happy with my computer. ;) I hope the weather gets better for you up there too.

I'll definitely post some fireworks shots when I get my pictures back - I shot two rolls of film and I think I was the only one who wasn't shooting with a digital that night. :)

Oooooh tell, tell, what kind of computer did you get?

You know...I heard the Magic Island Firework show on the radio, well...just the music. HAHAHAHA I did end up going to the Scoldfield one, well in the pineapple fields. No way will I EVER go on base again, trying to leave is insane. So many rude people. :-P

Ah, Rayna - I didn't have enough money to buy one of those cool G4s :(. I had to end up settling for a measly Compaq. In any case, I'll be happy to get rid of my OLD computer - after 6 years I think it's ready for a rest. ;)

I didn't know that Schofield had fireworks. And I can imagine how horrible it must be to try to leave the base - I used to work at the Schofield branch and some of the people there were just so rude. :( Actually Magic Island wasn't too bad - the fireworks show wasn't as spectacular as I remembered it before and it seemed to end quicker, but it was still nice. :)

I wish I could buy a G4, when I finally find a rich guy to marry. *LOL* I'm thinking of going with a laptop and my dad will probably build is own computer. I hear Compaq are good for their price.

Yep, Schofield has fireworks ever since I can remember they've had it. Pretty good, nothing like seeing NY or the other major cities. All I heard was the music for the MI show, which was kewl, would have been nice to see it though. As for being on base, my friend couldn't get out of there and took a long time since there were so many rude ppl.

Wish you fun with your new computer and that it works the way you would like it. Sometimes, mine computer is driving me mad - it tells me that it would be "working to capacity" or stops working.

I'm glad to hear that you had a nice evening watching the firework. Your words in regard to the digital made me smile. :) They really need much time. Hope, you could take some great photos?

Wish you a nice Sunday with better weather. :)

I can sympathize... My computer would constantly crash when I tried to run too many applications. :( I like this computer but I really think that it's outlived its useful life... but after 6 years it did give me a lot of usage so I'm happy. :)

I took about 2 rolls of film. I was the only one not using a digital last night - so I don't know how most of my photos turned out yet. Susan got some nice shots of the fireworks, though. :) If I have any that are worth posting, I'll put them up here (though I don't think so because of our location las night) :P

Thanks, Sabine. Hope you have a nice rest of your weekend as well. :)

Yay for new computers!!! :)

Glad to hear that you had a wonderful 4th of July celebration. :)

I hope the weather gets a little cooler for you. Take care. :) *hugs*

Thanks! :) I was really over-due for a new one. :) Too bad it's only sitting in a box on my floor right now, though. :P I guess that gives me incentive to get off my butt and backup my files and find that darn disc. ;) Thanks for your wishes for better weather - I know how hot it is up there so hopefully your hot spell will end soon too. :) Take care. *hugs* :)

In fact, I just set it up and it's great! :) Certainly better than that old relic I was using before. :P

Sherishutterbug93 on July 6th, 2003 07:24 pm (UTC)
Thanks, Barb! :) I hope I have fireworks pictures that are decent enough to post... :P The area where we were wasn't the best for photos. :( I'll see when my pictures are developed though. :) What have you spent money on this weekend? Now I'm curious!
