Jury duty update and why I NEVER go into my safe deposit box...
Thank you to everyone who responded to my last post about the jury duty summons I received which conflicted with my NYC trip. I called this morning and thankfully they rescheduled me for Oct 13th. YAY! Oct 13 happens to fall on a bank holiday (but not a state holiday) so I'll be spending my only day off at the courthouse,... but that's okay... At least my NYC trip is safe! :)

On a completely different note, in trying to hunt down my birth certificate, I went into my safe deposit box today for the first time in over 5 years. It had been AGES since I went in there and now I remember why...

I found a birthday card I received from my Dad the year he passed away....

I'd almost forgotten about this and I definitely forgot that I'd put it in there, but seeing it brought back a lot of memories. My Dad was never someone who was very emotional... he didn't talk about his feelings too much and was certainly never one to really show affection, so this card was something EXTREMELY out of character for him...

When I opened it, it read...

AND I CRIED!!! :( :( :(

Now I remember why it's been five years since I've been in my safe deposit box... Finding these things turns me into a HUGE weeping mess... :P What an emotional week its been for me... I swear...

I'm glad you got the jury duty resolved.

And I totally believe that you were meant to see the birthday card now, so that you would know your Dad was thinking of you as much as you are thinking of him. He just told you that he is still with you.

The connection broke after I had read about the jury duty. :( But you've been in my thoughts and now I'm glad to hear that your NYC trip is safe. :)

I'm sending much love and big hugs to a wonderful friend!

*big hugs* It's a wonderful thing to have that memory, and that reminder kept safe.

Oh man... that almost made me cry. :| I agee with some of the other people that said it's your dad's way of saying he still loves you.

I'm glad you were able to postpone jury duty.

I recently received a jury duty summons, and had mine deferred until January...they wanted me for the week of Sep. 22, but I didn't want to get caught up in something that could potentially become a 2+ week trial and have to miss my trip to Wisconsin the first weekend in October.

And my parents might flip out if I had to miss seeing them over the holidays due to jury duty.

Oh, and that is such a sweet card! I love the artwork.
