I had the six course veggie tasting menu without the wine (I couldn't do the 11 course like most of my co-workers!!)
My first course was a delicious salad with Haumakua lettuce, skinned tomatoes,
cucumbers with a really interesting vinaigrette. YUMMY!!
The second course was my favorite!!
Here's the website's description: Grilled Hamakua Mushroom Macaroni Gratin:
jumbo alii mushroom, jerusalem artichoke, parmesan chips, cauliflower purée
sumida watercress, vinaigrette
The little white thing on the bottom was the Macaroni Gratin (basically pasta lined up
and covered with cheese and baked) - soooo delicious!!
And the mushrooms?? They were seasoned PERFECTLY - to die for!! YUM!
This was also a favorite dish of mine!! :)
They brought out a bowl with carrots, mochi (rice cake - you can see it - the
2 longish white things on either side...), and pearl onions - then they poured
a shiitake mushroom au jus over it... DELICIOUS!!!! I was in veggie heaven!!
This was my main course, which was okay... I liked the other two before far more, though!
This was a chickpea and zucchini mixture on top of swiss chard with a pancake like thing
on the top. Interesting and yummy, but not earth shattering like the last two...
This was a watermelon gelatin thingy that I couldn't eat due to the gelatin... :(
I gave it away and others seemed to like it. :)
My dessert was a plate of three malasadas (Portuguese donuts) covered in sugar
filled with lilikoi. The Malasadas sat upon a really good guava sauce and was topped
with pineapple / coconut ice cream. Delicious - except for the ice cream - I hate
coconut... Bleh.
All the girls that night at dinner. :)
What a night and what incredible food!! It took us nearly 4 hours to complete all the courses, but it was a fun way to spend time with co-workers and try a restaurant we wouldn't normally be able to afford... :)
I'm off to work, hope you all have a nice day!! :)
