Since it's not quite 2009 yet...

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Attended the 2008 Daytime Emmy Awards... Big and scary venture for me, especially not having met anyone there prior to going... it did turn out to be one of my most memorable trips this year, though. :)

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My 2008 New Year's Resolution was to work out more - which I did NOT do... :( I did maintain my vegetarian lifestyle and my weight, in fact, this year I lost an additional 10 pounds so it wasn't all bad! I think I'll make the same work out resolution for 2009.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, Laura gave birth to a beautiful baby boy - Wiley!! :)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully this year, no. Thank GOODNESS!!!

5. What countries did you visit?
Didn't do any traveling abroad this year... though I did take 3 trips to NYC, and 8 trips to LA to see some absolutely wonderful theatre!

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Last year I said I wanted to be a little more adventurous in my interactions with the deaf community - which I'm not sure that I did... I did my normal 50th State Fair volunteering and helping out with Deaf Santa, but by and large, I did less interacting this year than I did last year. :( Next year I would like to focus more on "getting in shape" rather than "losing weight." (Which kind of goes along with my resolution above...) :)

7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Several dates - October 3rd, the day we got to bring Cooper-dog home!! :) November 21st, our 10th wedding anniversary!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Just making it through my job without having gone insane is my greatest achievement!

9. What was your biggest failure?
Probably not working out and getting as out of shape as I have... :P

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Thankfully, no, nothing serious, at least.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
So many things come to mind, but tickets to the Daytime Emmys are probably one of the best things I bought this year. it introduced me to some wonderful people that I would not have met otherwise, who I still travel with to this day. I also got to meet Van for the first time. :)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My grandma - who is AMAZING for 95 and is such a strong willed and feisty woman!!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A certain co-worker who will go unnamed, but who I wrote about throughout the year...

14. Where did most of your money go?
Aside from the mortgage and bills, theatre tickets, theatre tickets, and did I mention? THEATRE TICKETS!

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to New York in Sept and seeing Kevin and Bets in "A Tale of Two Cities" and "Marvelous Wonderettes" on and off Broadway! Going to the 2008 Daytime Emmys and seeing Van arrive on the red carpet at the Kodak Theatre, and then finally being able to speak coherently with him at DDR and finding out what a sweetheart he was. :) Getting randomly pulled on stage as the "Something About You" girl at my first off-broadway performance of Altar Boyz that I saw. :) Getting to see and really catch up with Russell at "Aesop Who" - he's SUCH a lovely person!! Seeing "Mask" and speaking with Michelle after the show and seeing what a gracious and lovely person she is.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Ha!! "Something About You." :D

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
happier or sadder? Happier, all in all this was a pretty nice year (and no robberies this year, thank goodness!)
thinner or fatter? Believe it or not, I actually was able to lose about 10 pounds since last year, which is amazing considering what I've been eating!
richer or poorer? I think I'm in a little better financial place than I was last year.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish I'd gotten to spend more time with Cooper when he was first brought home instead of spending all those late hours at work... :P

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Agonizing and stressing over work...

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Spent the morning at the in-laws and then took Cooper to meet the neurotic fuzzy dog at my Mom's house in the evening. It was a great Christmas. :)

21. How will you be spending New Year's Eve?
Each year, Mark & I take my Mom to my in-law's house for their annual New Year's Eve party.

22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
I fell in love back in 1996 and never fell out of it. :)

23. How many one-night stands?
I don't like answering this question every year... None!

24. What was your favorite TV program?
This was the year that I got back into soap watching - so I have to say "As The World Turns" - not all of it,... just the Luke & Noah storyline. :) I also started the year a huge fan of "October Road" - but sadly that didn't last... Other than that, I really don't watch TV at all.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't think I will ever hate anyone, but "dislike" sure did play a HUGE factor in this year for me.

26. What was the best book you read?
Not too much a fan of books, though I did read A LOT of really good fan fiction this year. My favorite was a little "Due South" fic called "From Afar" by TrueEnough. It was written back in 2002, but it was gorgeous... the RayK and Fraser of her story sang to my heart... I absolutely adored it. Also discovered a fic called "True North" by Crysothemis which I love... There's something about the way Fraser whispers in RayK's ear at the end (at the airport) that gets me EVERYTIME!) I tend to love those fics that are either post COTW, or alt versions of COTW. "True North" was just that kind of fic.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
"Thrill Me" both the music and the performers I saw in the amazing production at the Hudson backstage (Alex and Stewart), "In the Heights", and I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of any at the moment... :P

28. What did you want and get?
Many great new website clients!! :)

29. What did you want and not get?
I was very fortunate this year and could not have asked for anything more.

30. What was your favorite film this year?
"Save Me!!!" Saw it twice in Chelsea when I was in NYC in September and it was just gorgeous!! :) I would see it another 10 times during that trip if I could... Chad Allen was absolutely heart-breaking - he is SO amazing! Also I saw "Shelter" for the first time this year and it was lovely as well.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Mark took me to eat at PF Chang's for my birthday this year - and that's when I discovered their INCREDIBLE mabo tofu!! :)

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
You know, I've been incredibly blessed in my life with a wonderful hubby, amazing friends, a great job, and incredibly amazing experiences... I couldn't ask for anything better, really...

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Because of my job, I have to wear a lot of suits

34. What kept you sane?
Definitely my hubby & fuzzy baby and of course, traveling to LA and NYC to see wonderful theatre has certainly kept me sane throughout the year as well.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Van Hansis, Van Hansis, and did I mention? VAN HANSIS! ;) The year seemed to be all about Van for me... from discovering him and Luke & Noah early in the year, to actually meeting and finding out what a sweet person he was later in the year... This year was also about re-discovering Chad Allen... From seeing him on stage in April at the Pasadena Playhouse in Looped, to seeing his beautiful independent film "Save Me," this certainly was a year that I re-discovered what it was about Chad Allen that I adored. Of course, the year also reminded me why I will always adore Kevin and Russell. Others this year in the "fancy" department: Norm Lewis (and finally meeting him that the BC/EFA flea market was a treat!!), Stewart & Alex (Thrill Me - one of the best shows I saw all year!!), and Callum Keith Rennie & Michael C. Hall. :)

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The Presidential Election, Prop 8.

37. Whom did you miss?
My Dad and Sydney. :(

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I've met so many wonderful people this year that it would be hard to name everyone... But I have to say Kevin M - technically I met him back in 2007 at the Ovations, but I didn't get to know him the way that I did this year working with him on his site - he's become one of my favorite people! The wonderful folks from the VH.Net message board (I can't name everyone but most notably among them, Jessica & Nicole...) As far as celebrities go... meeting Norm Lewis at the BC/EFA flea market was SUCH a thrill for me, and meeting Van at the Emmys (and later getting to speak with him coherently at DDR) ;) was a thrill. :)

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
Life is way too short - make every moment count!

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I have to give the same answer as last year - " being an us for once, instead of a them" - from "Rent", obviously. ;)

Here are my answers for 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and finally 2007.

Happy New Year, Everyone!! :)
