Hacking up a lung here... Ewww!!
Not sure what happened in NYC, but on the last day, out of the blue, I had a coughing attack late at night that was so bad that I started wheezing and had a hard time catching my breath. I wasn't sick, didn't have a cold, but for some reason I couldn't stop coughing. At the time I thought it was because I was sucking in so much cold air...

But this odd cough has lasted until now... I almost never cough during the day, though later in the afternoon and night are horrible! And it isn't a dry cough either... I think I need to make an appointment to see the doctor, because this is REALLY strange. My throat isn't sore, nor was it... I don't have sinus congestion or a runny nose,... I don't really have any other symptoms of illness, just this strange cough and sometimes breathing problems at night.

Not sure what it is... bronchitis? Asthma? Allergies? SOOO strange! :P Bleh.

Roger had the same thing, but he also had a fever every once in a while. That's very strange. i hope your doctor can figure out what's going on. *hug*

:-( I hope the cough goes away soon. A trip to the doctor might not be such a bad idea. I had something similar happen to me, but it was a cough that lingered way after a cold was over. Turned out to be asthma.

Feel better!

Oh no - you were diagnosed with asthma? :( So sorry to hear that! :( Thanks for your comment and I did make an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow.

I don't have any ideas what it could be, but don't they say if your symptoms persist for a week you should have it checked out?

Make that appointment!!

Thanks!! I made an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow afternoon! The cough is getting much worse so I thought I should make time to check it out.

BTW, your icons are just... *THUD*! :)

Don't really have any ideas, but I definitely think you should think about seeing a doctor. Better to be safe than sorry! :) Hope you feel better soon!

I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow. It wouldn't be too bad if I had been sick and this was a lingering cough... but I haven't been sick for a long time. The cough came out of nowhere and it's getting worse. :P

I'm very sorry to hear that. :( I hope it's nothing serious! And please feel better soon! Big hugs to you, Sheri!

Hmm...cud be because of the sudden cold temps in your area...freezing I mean...I had (& still have a little) same cough a few weeks ago. Even though visited a doc and took medicines, cough still persists...esp when I am out in cold...

One good rememdy to soothe throat and reduce the coughing intervals is dring warm water...better yet drink hot water like how u drink hot tea or coffee. That will soothe and also reduce the coughing.

Hope u feel better soon.

Could be!! I was thinking it was possibly the cold temperatures in NYC and then the drastic change to 80 degree weather here... But I did schedule an appointment with the doctor tomorrow, just to be sure.

Thanks so much for your comment!! HUGS!!

Sounds very asthma-like to me. It can be brought on by cold or by allergies (it can also follow a virus). My daughter and I both tend toward cough-variant asthma, and it's usually worst at the end of the day. Hope you can get help quickly!

ETA: You should definitely see a doctor, and if s/he doesn't mention the possibility of asthma and doesn't have a good answer for you, ask about it. I was not diagnosed when I had asthma during college, and was just given stronger cough medicine, which made me groggy and didn't solve the problem! That said, I've occasionally had it so bad I had to take something strong to suppress the cough along with inhaled steroids and bronchodilators - but only for a few days. In the interim, I don't know that you drink any caffeine, but some hot black tea may help, as the caffeine may give you some relief along with the warm liquid.

Thanks for your comment, Robin!! I was doing some research on asthma online and I didn't know that night coughing was sometimes a symptom!

I thankfully did schedule an appointment with the doctor tomorrow... I half expect him to tell me it's just a cough and give me cough medicine too... But I will bring up the possibility of asthma if he doesn't.

Thanks so much for your comment!! HUGS!!!
